신용카드 이용대금 연체집단의 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Credit Card Delinquents)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of late credit card bill payers. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey of 621 credit card users residing in five metropolitan cities including Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The results indicated that credit card delinquents showed irrational behavior in managing the use of credit cards. That is, they unnecessarily subscribed for credit cards, used their credit cards without signature, or excessively used the credit cards regardless of their payment capability. From these study results, two recommendations were made : 1) consumer education on credit card use and credit management and 2) law revision on regulating credit card use.

시장 경쟁이 신용카드 연체부도율에 미치는 효과에 대한 실증분석 (Empirical Analysis of Credit Card Delinquency Effect by Market Competition)

  • The purposes of this article is to analyse how market competition of credit card company affect price(interest rate) and survival length of card users. This paper uses individual account data from a large Korean credit card company during the periods from 2002 to 2006. The findings of our study are as follows. First, market competition of credit card company have a negative effect with interest rate of credit card. Second, market competition of credit card company have a affirmative effect with survival length. Finally, The effect of Increasing delinquency rate due to price increase is smaller than decreasing delinquency rate due to extending survival length.

지하철역사내 승객보행흐름 분석모형 - 교통카드자료를 활용하여 - (An Analysis Model on Passenger Pedestrian Flow within Subway Stations - Using Smart Card Data -)

  • 교통카드를 이용하는 승객의 지하철역사내에서 보행이동은 직승직하, 노선환승, 역사환승 3가지로 구분된다. 직승직하는 단말기노선과 열차노선이 동일한 상황에서 나타나는 통행을 의미한다. 직승은 출발역에서 직하는 도착역에서 각각 나타난다. 노선환승은 승객이 하차 및 승차한 열차노선이 다른 상황에서 발생한다. 노선환승은 출발역과 도착역이 아닌 중간역의 환승보행통행이다. 역사환승은 단말기노선과 열차노선이 다른 경우 나타난다. 역사환승은 출발역에서 출발환승과 도착역에서 도착환승으로 나타난다. 수도권 교통카드는 출발역 및 도착역 단말기노선번호가 기록되나 열차노선정보가 존재하지 않는다. 따라서 지하철역사를 보행하는 승객의 전체흐름을 분석하기 위해서 카드자료가 활용되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 교통카드자료의 제한된 정보를 활용하여 지하철역사내 승객의 보행이동 분석모형을 제안한다. 이를 위해 출발역과 도착역을 연결하는 경로선택모형을 구축하여 열차노선을 분석하는 개념을 적용한다. 수도권지하철을 대상으로 사례연구를 시행하여 보행통행을 분석한다.

Towards Smart Card Based Mutual Authentication Schemes in Cloud Computing

  • In the cloud environment, users pay more attentions to their data security since all of them are stored in the cloud server. Researchers have proposed many mutual authentication schemes for the access control of the cloud server by using the smart card to protect the sensitive data. However, few of them can resist from the smart card lost problem and provide both of the forward security and the backward security. In this paper, we propose a novel authentication scheme for cloud computing which can address these problems and also provide the anonymity for the user. The trick we use is using the password, the smart card and the public key technique to protect the processes of the user's authentication and key exchange. Under the Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) assumption, it is provably secure in the random oracle model. Compared with the existing smart card based authentication schemes in the cloud computing, the proposed scheme can provide better security degree.

스마트카드 기반의 전력원격검침 프레임워크 (Smart Card based Framework for Electricity AMR)

  • 전력검침은 전력 사용요금을 부과하기 위하여 전력사용량을 측정하는 행위를 말하며, 이를 자동화한 시스템을 전력원격검침(AMR: Automatic Meter Reading)이라 한다. 전력원격검침은 검침 인력을 시스템으로 대체해 원가를 줄이고 고객 서비스를 강화할 수 있는 시스템으로 부각되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 전력원격검침 모델의 대안으로 스마트카드 기반의 전력원격검침 프레임워크 SCEMS를 제안하고 구현하였다. 제안된 SCEMS 프레임워크는 자바카드 기반의 다기능 스마트카드를 사용하며, 스마트카드에 수집된 자료와 가구의 전력사용 패턴을 활용하여 다양한 요금제를 지원하는 등의 고객서비스를 제공한다. 제안된 원격검침 모델 연구는 전력산업의 환경변화에서 초래할 다원화, 이질화, 복합화에 대한 해결방안이 될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

The Impact of Increased Credit Card Usage on Costs Incurred by Merchant Establishments in Singapore

  • The research aims to help merchant acquiring institutions gain a better insight on what merchant establishments in the Singapore market perceive of the costs they incur due to credit card acceptance. The research attempts to study the Singapore market and establish if increased credit card usage does increase costs for the merchant establishments that accept credit cards, this will help to acquire institutions in Singapore have a better understanding of merchant perceptions and what drives or deters credit card acceptance in the Singapore market. The survey was based on an interview of merchant establishments and the views of the merchants and was not based on their financial data. As a first step, the variables used in the survey were tested for interdependence using Chi-square tests; subsequently data reduction using factor analysis was performed and finally linear regression to establish a relation between dependent and independent variables. Merchant establishment believe accepting credit cards and increasing volume is costlier compared to another form of payment, but have mixed awareness about interchange fee. It also indicated that interchange fee and cardholder benefits are independent of the merchant establishments. The study only broadly attempts to gauge merchants view if increased credit card usage has increased costs for them.

Factors Reducing Credit Card's Perceived Risk in Retail Payment: An Approach to Consumer Traits

  • Purpose: The study is focused on understanding consumer behaviour related to credit card use in retail payment or identifying factors that influence risk perception. Research design, data and methodology: Based on data collecting from structured self-administered questionnaires of 247 Vietnamese bank account payers, this study uses the Cronbach alpha analysis, the factor analyses, the structural equation modeling to assess the research's measurement model and structural model with the presence of knowledge, propensity to trust, self-efficacy, risk perception, intended use and their complex, intertwined relationships. Results: The results reveal that customer's perceived risk, which is affected by their self-efficacy and propensity to trust, negatively impact on their intended use of credit cards in retail payment. However, there is no evidence of the significant influence of consumer knowledge on how they assess potential losses of credit card. Conclusions: These findings provide a better understanding of consumer risk perception, its antecedents and consequence in a direction of credit card adoption. Bank managers or marketers should focus on increasing the information about credit cards and issues related to credit card use in retail payment, promoting mechanisms to encourage customers to participate in the credit card experience.

모바일 기기를 활용한 고객 개시 카드결제 시스템 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation for Card Holder Initiated Card Payment System Using the Mobile Devices)

  • Payment system is defined as the various contracts and operating facilities for the transfer of monetary value to clear the relationship between credit and debt. Payment systems essentially require the efficient and reliable operations. Card-based payment systems are developed practically and creatively in accordance with the progress of ICT. Especially in mobile environment with intelligent mobile devices such as smart-phones and tablets, a variety of payment services are provided. Existing card-based payment services are configured by the payment transaction initiated by the merchants card acceptance and then swiping into the CAT (Card Authorization Terminal) to begin the transaction. The merchant initiated payment services are now applied to the Wireless CAT (W-CAT) for mobile environment. That kind of payment services cause many problems such the illegal card information leaks and the lingering threat of W-CAT theft. Also, the use of many W-CATs increased cost to the merchant. In this paper, we propose the card holder initiated card payment system using the intelligent mobile devices in mobile environment for solving problems of the existing merchant initiated card payment system and coping effectively with the activation of a wireless data network and changes of information technology.

대학생 소비자의 신용카드 관리행동에 관한 연구 (Credit Card Management Behaviors of College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitude, knowledge and need for educational contents about credit cards according to credit card use, and to examine the status of credit card use and the factors affecting credit card management behaviors of college students. The data were collected from 481 college students in Busan and Kyungnam areas by a self-administered questionnaire. Frequencies, Cronbach's alpha, factor analysis, t-test, ${\chi}^2$ analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis and regression analyses were conducted by SPSS WINDOWS. The results from this study were as follows. First, there were no significant differences between the credit card user group and the non-user group in the means of their altitude and knowledge towards credit cards. The mean of each category of the need for educational contents was high in both groups. Second, respondents of the credit card user group answered that they used credit cards whenever necessary, using them to purchase mostly clothing, shoes, and books. Third, credit card management behaviors were influenced by the allowance amount, experience of consumer education related to credit cards, number of total credit cards, attitude towards credit cards, knowledge about credit cards, frequency of credit card use, terms of credit card use and father's occupation. These results suggest that consumer education should be conducted for the credit card management behaviors of college students.

신용카드 추천을 위한 다중 프로파일 기반 협업필터링 (Collaborative Filtering for Credit Card Recommendation based on Multiple User Profiles)

  • Collaborative filtering, one of the most widely used techniques to build recommender systems, is based on the idea that users with similar preferences can help one another find useful items. Credit card user behavior analytics show that most customers hold three or less credit cards without duplicates. This behavior is one of the most influential factors to data sparsity. The 'cold-start' problem caused by data sparsity prevents recommender system from providing recommendation properly in the personalized credit card recommendation scenario. We propose a personalized credit card recommender system to address the cold-start problem, using multiple user profiles. The proposed system consists of a training process and an application process using five user profiles. In the training process, the five user profiles are transformed to five user networks based on the cosine similarity, and an integrated user network is derived by weighted sum of each user network. The application process selects k-nearest neighbors (users) from the integrated user network derived in the training process, and recommends three of the most frequently used credit card by the k-nearest neighbors. In order to demonstrate the performance of the proposed system, we conducted experiments with real credit card user data and calculated the F1 Values. The F1 value of the proposed system was compared with that of the existing recommendation techniques. The results show that the proposed system provides better recommendation than the existing techniques. This paper not only contributes to solving the cold start problem that may occur in the personalized credit card recommendation scenario, but also is expected for financial companies to improve customer satisfactions and increase corporate profits by providing recommendation properly.
