Freeze drying for porous Mo was accomplished by using $MoO_3$ powder as the source and camphor-naphthalene eutectic system as the sublimable material. Eutectic composition of camphor-naphthalene slurries with the initial $MoO_3$ content of 5 vol%, prepared by milling at $55^{\circ}C$ with a small amount of oligomeric dispersant, was frozen at $-25^{\circ}C$. The addition of dispersant showed improvement of dispersion stability in slurries. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphor-naphthalene during drying in air for 48 h. To convert the $MoO_3$ to metallic Mo, the green body was hydrogen-reduced at $750^{\circ}C$, and sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The sintered samples, frozen by heated Teflon cylinder, showed large pores with the size of about 40 ${\mu}m$ which were aligned parallel to the sublimable vehicles growth direction. The formation of unidirectionally aligned pores is explained by the rejection and accumulation of solid particles in the serrated solid-liquid interface.
Although in Korea there are only three examples of wooden coffins being found in burial mounds - from the Daho-ri, Songhyun-dong, and Munyung tombs, in Japan data on the shape and structure of wooden coffins from the Gofun era is relatively abundant. The wooden coffins of the Gofun era of Japan can be classified into either the dugout log style or the combined boards style according to their method of manufacture. They can also be divided by shape, into such categories as the boat shape, the split bamboo shape, the box shape, and so on. The box shape category can be further divided into the assembled type and the nailed type, according to how the boards are put together. Japanese Umbrella Pine (Sciadopitys verticillata) was favored as coffin-wood in all ages, but during the later Gofun era easily obtained woods such as the Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) or the Hinoki Falsecypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) were also used. The coffins found at Daho-ri and Songhyun-dong are similar to the Japanese dugout log style in shape and manufacture, while the king's and queen's coffins excavated at Munyung Tomb are seen to have had direct influence on the appearance of nailed coffins Japan. The coffin in Songhyun-dong 7th mound was originally a dugout log boat. It was probably used for practical reasons such as the bugproof, anti-corrosion qualities of camphor wood, not because of ideological reasons such as in a boat burial (in which the boat takes the deceased to the after world). Because the Changnyong region is inland, where camphor trees do not grow, using an already existing boat may have been the only way to procure a camphor-wood coffin. From historical circumstances, it may be inferred that the camphor trees were imported into Korea from Japan, between which there was much cultural exchange.
Pseudomonas putida 3SK, which was constructed by the conjugal transfet of the $CAM::TOL^{*}$ plasmid of Pseudomonas putida CSnA and the NAH plasmid of Pseudomonas putida KCTC 2403 into n-alkane assimilating Pseudomonas putida KCTC 2405, showed a broad degradation spectrum and floc-forming ability. This strain degraded m-toluic acid, naphthalene, camphor and decane simultaneously. $Hg^{2+}$ at the concentration of 1 ppm in the minimal medium could not inhibit the growth of this strain. The degradation of m-toluic acid by Pseudomonas putida 3SK was not repressed by the easily utilizable compounds, such as glucose and succinate. But, the addition of formalin inhibited the growth of Pseudomonas putida 3SK. After the cultivation of this strain on the artificial wastewater containing m-toluic acid, naphthalene, camphor and decane for 24 hr, the initial COD value (1500) of the artificial wastewater was declined to 300.
In the conservation treatment of wood remains, polymers, treatment methods, and treatment period can be varied, depending on the percentage of moisture content and species of trees. Thus, in order to apply the appropriate conservation treatment, a lot of information from the wood remains are required. Despite the information from the wood remains, testing a part of the wood remains is necessary to get information about the polymers. When the wooden coffin made of camphor trees was excavated, it was cracked in the section of radiation, and there were hairlines cracks. Therefore, without any conservation treatment, it is impossible to restore it. This experiment is for the conservation treatment of the wooden coffin excavated from Songhyun-dong tombs No 7, Changnyeong. For this experiment, I used camphor trees from Jejudo. The purpose of this experiment is to asses the possibility of preliminary testing materials before the conservation treatment on the wooden coffin. After the camphor trees from Jejudo are artificially aged by Fenton's reagent, they are As a result of oxidation by Fenton, the degree of oxidation is high in proportion to the amount of peroxide and iron sulfate. Among several samples, the sample 'na' made the most similar result to the wooden coffin from Songhyun-dong. If I use this condition to make the sample in polymer tests, it is very helpful to find the most suitable polymer for the conservation treatment of wooden coffin. After the same species of trees are oxidized by Fenton and they become the similar condition, we are able to find suitable methods of conservation treatment. The suitable methods reduce the demage of the remains and make us to get more information. Thus, we are able to carry out conservation treatment more exactly.
This study investigated the chemical composition of Artemisia princeps var. orientalis (Pampan) Hara (ssuk in Korea) essential oil and the quantitative changes of major terpene compounds according to the time of harvest. The essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation extraction from the aerial parts of ssuk were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The essential oil composition of ssuk was characterized by higher contents of mono- and sesqui- terpene compounds. Ninety-nine volatile flavor compounds were identified in the essential oil from ssuk harvested in 2010, with camphor (11.9%), ${\beta}-caryophyllene$ (9.11%), dehydrocarveol (8.51%), and borneol (7.72%) being the most abundant compounds. Eighty-three compounds were identified in the essential oil from the plant harvested in 2011, with borneol (12.36%), caryophyllene oxide (12.29%), ${\beta}-caryophyllene$ (10.24%), camphor (9.13%), and thujone (8.4%) being the most abundant compounds. Eighty-four compounds were identified in the essential oil from the plant harvested in 2012, with ${\beta}-caryophyllene$ (20.25%), caryophyllene oxide (14.63%), and thujone (11.55%) being the major compounds. Eighty-nine compounds were identified in the essential oil from the plant harvested in 2013, with thujone (23.11%), alloaromadendrene oxide (12.3%), and ${\beta}-caryophyllene$ (11.48%) being the most abundant compounds. Thujone and aromadendrene oxide contents increased significantly from 2010 to 2013, while camphor and dehydrocarveol contents decreased significantly during those 4 years. The quantitative changes in these 4 compounds according to the time of harvest can served as a quality index for ssuk essential oil. The ecological responses to recent climate changes may be reflected in the chemical components of natural plant essential oils.
Amomi Fructus with anti-oxidative activity was chosen and essential oil was obtained by SDE (simultaneous distillation extraction), and 39 constituents were determined by GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry). Major components were camphor, borneol acetate, borneol, D-limonene and camphene. Three solvent extracts such as hexanes, diethyl ether and methylene chloride from Amomi Fructus were obtained. These were analyzed by GC-MS and 4 more constituents were identified in addition to 39 components discovered in essential oil. Five major components such as camphor, borneol acetate, borneol, D-limonene and camphene were also detected, however the relative peak percents of those components were different from those of constituents in essential oil. To estimate the kind and the amount of materials evaporated at certain temperature and conditions from essential oil and solvent extracts, dynamic headspace apparatus was used and materials evaporated and trapped at certain conditions were analyzed by GC-MS. Recovery yield of SDE method from Amomi Fructus was measured by using camphor and standard calibration solution of camphor methanol solution and, the yield was 82.0%. Content of Hg was measured by mercury analyzer and contents of Cd, Pb, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn in Amomi Fructus, essential oils and solvent extracts were determined by ICP-MS (Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer). Pb, Cd and Hg were measured in the concentration of 0.72 mg/kg, <0.10 mg/kg and 0.0023 mg/kg, respectively and these were below permission level of purity test. Contents of Mn, Cu and Zn in Amomi Fructus were 213 mg/kg, 8.29 mg/kg and 31.0 mg/kg, respectively and which were relatively higher than other metals such as Cr, Co and Ni. Metals such as Mn (0.65 ~ 9.08 mg/kg), Cu (1.16 ~ 4.40 mg/kg) and Zn (1.10 ~ 3.80 mg/kg) in essential oil and solvent extracts were detected. At this point it is not clear that the metals were cross-contaminated in the course of treating Amomi Fructus or metals were contained in Amomi Fructus. The influence evaluation toward biological model study of these metals in essential oil and solvent extracts will be needed.
The essential oils of Thymus quinquecostatus Celakov. and T. magnus Nakai, respectively, were isolated by using a modified Likens-Nickerson type steam distillation and extraction apparatus and analyzed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The oil content of T. quinquecostatus was 1.94%, and that of T. magnus was 1.91% in mixed leaves and stems and 0.68% in flowers. Among 38 components identified in either mixed leaves and stems or flowers the major components in essential oil isolated from T. quinquecostatus were thymol(39.8%), ${\gamma}-terpinene(10.0%)$${\rho}cymene(9.2%)$ and camphor(5.9%) while those from mixed leaves and stems of T. magnus were thymoI(54.7%), ${\gamma}-terpinene(15.8%)$, ${\rho}cymene(6.7%)$ and carvacroI(3.2%). The contents of ${\alpha}-pinene$, camphene, camphor, bornyl acetate and ${\alpha}-terpinene+borneol$ were higher in T. quinquecostatus than in T. maglnus but ${\gamma}-terpinene$ and thymol were higher in T. magnus than in T. quinquecostatus. Comparing leaves and stems with flowers in T. magnus, peak area percentage(%) of ${\gamma}-terpinene$, ${\alpha}-terpinene$ were higher in mixed leaves and stems than in flowers, whereas ${\rho}cymene$ was predominantly higher in flowers than in leaves and stems.

Constituents of the essential oil (EO)s and hydrosol of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.) were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The identified major constituents were ${\alpha}$-pinene (40.96%), camphor (34.44%), verbenone (45.31%), and camphor (67.04%) in rosemary EO, lavender EO, rosemary hydrosol, and lavender hydrosol, respectively. The antioxidant activity of EO and hydrosol extracted from rosemary and lavender were evaluated. Both EO showed di(phenyl)-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl) iminoazanium (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) free radical scavenging activities as well as $Fe^{2+}$ ion chelating activity but no alkyl radical scavenging activity. Rosemary EO showed higher DPPH radical scavenging activity than lavender, whereas lavender EO showed higher $Fe^{2+}$ ion chelating activity. Both rosemary and lavender hydrosols showed alkyl radical scavenging activity, but only lavender hydrosol showed an activity on $Fe^{2+}$ chelating assay. Both rosemary and lavender hydrosols also protected the dermal fibroblast and the HaCaT keratinocytes against $H_2O_2$-induced cytotoxicity.
