  • In this study, we review the ground-based whole-sky camera (WSC), which is developed to continuously capture day and night cloud images using the illumination data from a precision Lightmeter with a high temporal resolution. The WSC is combined with a precision Lightmeter developed in IYA (International Year of Astronomy) for analysis of an artificial light pollution at night and a DSLR camera equipped with a fish-eye lens widely applied in observational astronomy. The WSC is designed to adjust the shutter speed and ISO of the equipped camera according to illumination data in order to stably capture cloud images. And Raspberry Pi is applied to control automatically the related process of taking cloud and sky images every minute under various conditions depending on illumination data from Lightmeter for 24 hours. In addition, it is utilized to post-process and store the cloud images and to upload the data to web page in real time. Finally, we check the technical possibility of the method to observe the cloud distribution (cover, type, height) quantitatively and objectively by the optical system, through analysis of the captured cloud images from the developed device.

  • This paper Non-metric digital video camera against subject of study, stone cultural heritages such as stone pagodas. Non-metric digital video camera can perform functions that metric or quasi-metric camera cm not. Thus we could easily acquire still-images which are for analyzing from moving picture part. When we analyze a location of cultural heritages using a Non-metric digital video camera, we could get a accuracy from 2mm to 4mm. Finally, it can be said that study also suggests the efficient measurement when planning to restore prototype of cultural heritages in the future and providing specific three-dimensional information on them.

  • In this paper, the TDMA-based PoE wireless multi-IP camera transmission system using wireless communication technology is developed to reduce the burden of construction costs caused by the existing wired-based CCTV surveillance system and IP camera system. It intends to design and implement the long-distance wireless transmission technology of video. The transmission/reception prototype of the line IP transmission system and the wireless multi-IP camera transmission terminal and image acquisition device (SB-200) for the proposed related technology were described.

  • A new method for the catadioptric omnidirectional stereo vision with single camera is presented in this paper. The proposed method uses a concave lens with a convex mirror. Since the optical part of the proposed method is simple and commercially available, the resultant omnidirectional stereo system becomes versatile and cost-effective. The closed-form solution for 3D distance computation is presented based on the simple optics including the reflection and the reflection of the convex mirror and the concave lens. The compactness of the system and the simplicity of the image processing make the omnidirectional stereo system appropriate for real-time applications such as autonomous navigation of a mobile robot or the object manipulation. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed method, an experimental prototype is implemented.

  • Recently, the growing market demand for small and slim mobile phone cameras requires the size reduction of the camera module. In this paper, an auto-focusing actuator for camera phones is proposed by converting the rotational motion by a rotary VCM actuator into the linear motion using a novel cam structure. This new concept for auto-focusing module enables the reduction of the module thickness and low power consumption. This paper presents the theoretical analysis and optimal design for VCM actuator, cam structure and preload spring. Finally, the experimental results using a prototype with the size of $9.9{\times}9.9{\times}5.9\;mm^3$ are compared with the theoretical predictions.

  • Demosaicing, or color filter array (CFA) interpolation, estimates missing color channels of raw mosaiced images from a CFA to reproduce full-color images. It is an essential process for single-sensor digital cameras with CFAs. In this paper, a new demosaicing method for digital cameras with Bayer-like W-RGB CFAs is proposed. To preserve the edge structure when reproducing full-color images, we propose an edge direction-adaptive method using color difference estimation between different channels, which can be applied to practical digital camera use. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method in terms of CPSNR, FSIM, and S-CIELAB color distance measures, we perform simulations on sets of mosaiced images captured by an actual prototype digital camera with a Bayer-like W-RGB CFA. The simulation results show that the proposed method demosaics better than a conventional one by approximately +22.4% CPSNR, +0.9% FSIM, and +36.7% S-CIELAB distance.

  • We have proposed a measurement system for measuring a whole shape of an object easily. The proposed system consists of a camera and a cylinder whose inside is coated by a mirror layer. A target object is placed inside the cylinder and an image is captured by the camera from right above. The captured image includes sets of points that are observed from multiple viewpoints: one is observed directly, and others are observed via the mirror. Therefore, the whole shape of the object can be measured using stereo vision in a single shot. This paper shows that a prototype of the proposed system was implemented and an actual object was measured using the prototype. A method based on a pattern matching which uses a value of SSD (Sum of Squared Difference), and a method based on DP (Dynamic Programming) are employed to identify a set of corresponding points in warped captured images.

  • The design of Graphic Information System(GIS) in various applications is suffering from the difficulty of data acquisition, which is labor-intensive and time consuming. In order to provide the spatial data rapidly and accurately, 4S-Van, a prototype mobile mapping system, has been developed. The 4S-Van consists of 1)Global Positioning System(GPS), Inertial Navigation System(INS) for estimating the geographic position and attitude of the moving van, i.e.,(x, y, z) and the direction of the Van, 2) Charge Coupled Device(CCD) camera and laser scanner for capturing images and for measuring depth from geographic objects, and 3) External Synchronization Device(ESD) and industrial PC for synchronizing data from GPS/INS/CCD camera and for storing the data. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of the proto-Dpe 4S-Van system for spatial data acquisition for various GIS applications.

  • This paper presented a design which was a minimized remote control robot. This remote control robot was created for preventing life damage from conflagrations, nuclear events and HF gas accidents. This robot's system based smart phone that had camera and GPS systems. When fire came out, The robot figured out that how big fire was, where the fire was started and various aspects of situations. And The robot broadcasted the informations to smart phone using mobile application and wi-fi camera. By doing these, the fire mans could more accurate and be easier to plan a strategy for saving life. The body of robot are 2 parts. One is a car and the other one is a remote controller. By the power, 1step to 10steps, of grabbing remote controller could change the car's speed to move. Also, The prototype robot was already confirmed its utility itself.

  • To provide social security and for cooperative smart camera context awareness processing, each camera stores and exchange context data. For a specific event, measured values with other context data is stored RDB. RDB is transformed to ontology RDF file and is used for context reasoning. Interoperability between smart cameras conforms to ONVIF and constitutes intelligent surveillance system. To guarantee the confidentiality and integrity, securiy techniques are adopted. Security overhead between agents is analyzed in the prototype system implemented.
