  • Pusher-Loaded Scrapers are important construction equipment for large earthmoving operations. Production rates of a Pusher-Loaded Scraper vary greatly in accordance with the temperature or elevation, the equipment performance, haul speed, haul-road conditions, the method of loading, and Number of scrapers per one pusher. Determining of most economical scrapers fleet regarding the size of equipment, model name, and number of scrapers demands time-consuming calculation because it needs to reference of varied performance charts or tables and repeat complicated calculation. In this study, decision-making support system for the Optimal Pusher-loaded Scrapers Fleet is suggested for the purpose of calculating easily and handling effectively variables which are changed depend of the work conditions. The prototype of this program is developed using MATLAB. And the Database of Pusher-loaded Scraper embodies Performance chart & Retarder chart, soil properties, and calculation-support table.

  • As the time goes by, the energy use in buildings are increasing threateningly. So, it is important to have an accurate energy load calculation for buildings. The accurate energy simulation program carries numerous input data. So, our purpose of this study is to verify the application of simplify modeling method which eliminates coordinates of building components instead of using full coordinates by using DOE2. After comparing original modeling method with simplify modeling method, we applied PAF for daylighting control in the building to verify the application of daylighting control in simplify modeling method. The results shows that there are little difference between original modeling and simplify modeling. Also it showed that application of daylighting control has little difference between original modeling so it is feasible to adapt simplify modeling. These results reveals that the application of simplify modeling is possible to predict energy load and use of the building.

  • The line impedance is important data that is applied in all analysis fields of electric power system like power flow, fault current, stability and relay calculation etc. Usually, impedance can be accurately calculated in case of overhead line. However, in case of power cables or combined transmission lines, impedance can not be accurately calculated because cable systems have the sheath, grounding wires, and earth resistance. Therefore, if there is a fault in cable system, these terms will severely be caused much error to calculation of impedance. Therefore, the line impedance were measured for this study in an actual power system of underground cables, and were analyzed by a generalized circuit analysis program EMTP for comparison with the measured value. These analysis result is considered to become foundation of impedance calculation for underground cable.

Simple equations for the calculation of the temperature within the cross-section of slim floor beams under ISO Fire

  • The calculation of fire resistance for a composite structural element comprises the calculation of the temperature within its cross-section and of the load bearing capacity, considering the evolution of the steel and concrete mechanical properties, function of the temperature. The paper proposes a method to calculate the bending capacity under ISO fire, for Slim Floor systems using asymmetric steel beams, with a wider lower flange or a narrow upper flange welded onto a half hot-rolled profile. The temperatures in the cross-section are evaluated by means of empirical formulas determined through a parametrical analysis, performed with the special purpose non-linear finite element program SAFIR. Considering these formulas, the bending capacity may be calculated, using an analytical approach to determine the plastic bending moment, for different fire resistance demands. The results obtained with this simplified method are validated through numerical analysis.

  • This paper describes the design of optimal location and capacity of DC substation for Mass Transit System. Three factors are considered for the design i.e. substation arrangements, line configuration and substation power capacity. In this study, we considered all of them for capacity calculation of power supply system for MTS. At first, DC-fed-traction system is introduced on an outline, a characteristics of train and fed network, and design method of substation arrangements. Optimal design procedures are described, and program for capacity calculation of the system is presented. In addition, the computer simulated results are compared with the conventional simple calculation method.

  • Because the magnetic bearing supports levitating body without contact, wear, noise and vibration, it is very useful to high revolution machinery. In this paper we selected ATmega 128, a less expensive and widely used micro controller, for control the magnetic bearing system. And we selected the sampling time and the control gain of PID controller through trial-and-error. The control program of the one board controller utilized lookup table to reduce calculation time, and bit shifting for the integer calculation in instead of floating point calculation. As the results, the controller carried out relatively high speed PID control on sampling time 0.25 ms. At last the rotation test for the magnetic bearing system was carried out by 3 phase induction motor and air turbine.

  • In order to design a reliable machine component efficiently, it is necessary to set up the process of durability analysis using computer simulation technique. In this paper, two methods for dynamic stress calculation, which are basis of durability analysis, are reviewed. Then, a user-oriented dynamic stress analysis program is developed from these two algorithms together with a general-purpose flexible body dynamic analysis and structural analysis programs. Finally, a slider-crank mechanism which has a flexible connecting-rod is chosen to show the special characteristics of these two dynamic stress calculation methods.

  • Energy dissipation systems increase the energy dissipation capacity of buildings considerably. In this study, the effect of dampers on a typical 10-storey reinforced concrete structure with a ductile moment-resisting frame was investigated. In this context, 5 different models were created according to the calculation of the slip load and the positions of the dampers in the structure. Nonlinear time-history analyzes using 11 different earthquake acceleration records were performed on the models using the ETABS program. As a result of the analyses, storey displacements, energy dissipation ratios, drift ratios, storey accelerations, storey shears, and hysteretic curves of the dampers on the first and last storey and overturning moments are presented. In the study, it was determined that friction dampers increased the energy dissipation capacities of all models. In addition, it has been determined that positioning the dampers in the outer region of the structures and taking the base shear as a basis in the slip load calculation will be more effective.

Development of 2.5D Electron Dose Calculation Algorithm (2.5D 전자선 선량계산 알고리즘 개발)

  • In this paper, as a preliminary study for developing a full 3D electron dose calculation algorithm, We developed 2.5D electron dose calculation algorithm by extending 2D pencil-beam model to consider three dimensional geometry such as air-gap and obliquity appropriately. The dose calculation algorithm was implemented using the IDL5.2(Research Systems Inc., USA), For calculation of the Hogstrom's pencil-beam algorithm, the measured data of the central-axis depth-dose for 12 MeV(Siemens M6740) and the linear stopping power and the linear scattering power of water and air from ICRU report 35 was used. To evaluate the accuracy of the implemented program, we compared the calculated dose distribution with the film measurements in the three situations; the normal incident beam, the 45$^{\circ}$ oblique incident beam, and the beam incident on the pit-shaped phantom. As results, about 120 seconds had been required on the PC (Pentium III 450MHz) to calculate dose distribution of a single beam. It needs some optimizing methods to speed up the dose calculation. For the accuracy of dose calculation, in the case of the normal incident beam of the regular and irregular shaped field, at the rapid dose gradient region of penumbra, the errors were within $\pm$3 mm and the dose profiles were agreed within 5%. However, the discrepancy between the calculation and the measurement were about 10% for the oblique incident beam and the beam incident on the pit-shaped phantom. In conclusions, we expended 2D pencil-beam algorithm to take into account the three dimensional geometry of the patient. And also, as well as the dose calculation of irregular field, the irregular shaped body contour and the air-gap could be considered appropriately in the implemented program. In the near future, the more accurate algorithm will be implemented considering inhomogeneity correction using CT, and at that time, the program can be used as a tool for educational and research purpose.   • When a disabled ship is being towed in a seaway, the speed and direction of the towed ship are estimated by using the towing force and direction of the selected tug boats at the predicted sea conditions including the wind and currents. In this paper, prediction method at the towing conditions of the various towing operations for a disabled ship are studied. The proposed calculation method suggests firstly the method to import the speed and resistance of the forward direction of the towed ship calculated by the existing computer program, second, the method to calculate the speed and resistance of the towed direction of the towed ship acquired from the selected tug boats at the initial towing conditions and lastly, the method to calculate the speed and resistance of the towed direction for the towed ship at the stable towing conditions. These calculation methods have been applied to the computer program and this program has been approved to be a useful program, capable of appropriately predicting the towed ship's conditions.
