PDM/ODB: Mapping XML to ODMG-Compliant Object-Oriented Database (PDM/ODB: XML 데이타의 ODMG 표준 객체지향 데이타베이스로의 사상)

  • The value of XML as electronic documents is increasing nowadays. The XML document has properties of semistructured data. It can be modeled as object-oriented model which can be easily adapted by object-oriented database. For storing XML documents to conventional database system, extracting schema information from the DTD of a XML document has been studied for several years. In this paper we store XML documents into object-oriented database, which preserve the semantics of the documents. We can store and query by OQL and make applications by C++ and make applications by C++ binding which is the access method of object-oriented database. Therefore, existing database applications can be used without modification.

  • As a XML Schema has been settled to W3C as standard at May. 2001 and technologies like as XML. Xpath and NameSpace related with XML has been developing. XML is becoming the standard of the new document exchanging. Due to the ability expressing various types of documentstructure through XML, ebXML, RosettaNet, and BizTalk are using XML as a core technology in the part of e-Business, To make the task automatically in the B2B EC now, a standard XML document is needed. Internal documents in each company should be transformed differently without any loss to work with other companies. In this paper, transforming XML document based on JAVA servlet is considered as realization of a XML system to exchange documents safely.

  • Because XML is a W3C standard and has characteristics like platform independent, it has a critical role in electronic commerce. Many electronic commerce systems are already using XML. Business rules and procedures should be standardized for efficient B2B electronic commerce. But a lot of companies have its own XML documents instead of standard documents. In this paper an XML message processor is designed. Clients may request services in XML and server returns response in XML in this system. This XML message processor can be applied easily and used efficiently in electronic commerce systems.

  • 인터넷의 사용 증가로 정보의 양은 기하급수적으로 증가하고 있으며 웹 데이터의 표준인 XML의 데이터 표현의 유연성으로 인해 EDMS(Electronic Document Management Syste), ebXML(e-business extensible Markup Language)등 웹 기반의 전자문서를 이용하는 XML를 문서 교환 및 표준 문서 형식으로 도입하고 있는 실정이다. 이런 XML문서들을 저장관리 하기 위해 XML전용 Database도 현재 많이 연구되고 있다. 하지만 이런 XML전용 Database들은 관계형 데이터베이스보다 실용성이 떨어지는 점들이 많아 XML과 관계형 데이터베이스 매핑에 대한 연구도 활발히 진행중이다. 본 논문에서는 $C{\sharp}$을 이용하여 XML과 관계형 데이터베이스 간의 매핑을 위한 모듈을 개발하였으며, XML의 element와 관계형 데이터베이스의 필드를 상호 매핑시켜 줌으로 인해 XML문서의 element를 정확하게 저장, 관리 할 수 있다.

  • MTF message is the normalized and standardized format which is used in the time when it tries to transmit data to other systems or exchanges needed information in defense message systems. XML can support variety of search functionality and is estimated to be the best way from the view of efficient presentation and exchange in internet based environment, based on advantage which is independent of hardware and software. US army brought in XML-MTF combining with XML based technology, but we do not contain such a MTF system, and necessity of MTF is increasing for combined operation between ROK and US as a lot of C4I system were transferred to Web based systems. In this paper, we make analysis of fundamental structure, organization of paragraph, witting regulation of MTF message. We present the rule of naming element and fundamental mapping rule for transformation of its XML based on it. Also, we prove that MTF message can be transformed to XML document by trying to transforming sample documents to XML document applying presented mapping rule, creating MTF message based on it and implement program which can automatically transform them to XML-MTF.

  • Nowadays an information exchange on XML such as B2B electronic commerce is spreading. Therefore the systematic and stable management mechanism for storing the exchanged information is needed. For this goal there are many research activities for connection between XML application and database. Accordingly, A unified modeling methodology need to store the XML file on the variety database. In this paper, we propose a unified design methodology for XML applications based on variety databases using UML. To this goal, first we introduce a XML modeling methodology to design W3C XML schema using UML and second we propose data modeling methodology for object-relational database schema, object oriented database an schema and relational database schema to store efficiently XML data in databases.

  • XML is recommended by W3C(World Wide Web) and widely accepted as a standard markup language for expression and sharing data. Recently, increasing the use and the amount of XML documents, there is required that easy methods for accessing XML documents at anytime and anywhere, therefore, the distributed XML repository systems is developed. For this, distributed XML repository systems is necessary to research catalog management schemes. In this paper, we design distributed XML database model considering CPU costs, I/O costs, concurrency control, two-phase commits a protocol, queuing delay and so on. And we implement a simulator in order to execute performance evaluation centralized catalog method, fully replicated catalog method, and partitioned catalog method using reasonably setting up environments.

PSN: A Dynamic Numbering Scheme for W3C XQuery Update Facility

  • It is essential to maintain hierarchical information properly for efficient XML query processing. Well known approach to represent hierarchical information of XML tree is assigning a specific node number to each node of XML tree. Insertion and deletion of XML node can occur at any position in a dynamic XML tree. A dynamic numbering scheme allows us to add nodes to or delete nodes from an XML tree without relabeling or with relabeling only a few existing nodes of XML tree while executing XML query efficiently. According to W3C XQuery update facility specifications a node can be added as first or last child of the existing node in XML tree. Generating new number for last child requires referencing the number of previous last child. Getting the number of last child is very costly with previous approaches. We have developed a new dynamic numbering scheme PSN which is very effective for insertion of a node as last child. Our approach reduces the time to find last child dramatically by removing sorting of children.

Developing a B2B Integration System based on XML Database System (XML 데이터베이스 시스템을 기반으로 한 B2B 통합 시스템 개발)

  • E-commerce requires many different types of communications and an unprecedented amount of data changes hands. The many different Platforms and systems interacting require a platform neutral standard for data exchange. One of the technologies that can fill this niche is XML, the extensible markup language established as a standard by the W3C. By being standardized and platform neutral, XML to be factor in e-commerce application and using many systems In this paper, we designed XML document that is used in transaction between corporations, and implement the B2B integration system based on XML database system. Also we use XSLT that make efficient transformation XML documents for exchanging heterogeneous XML data between corporations. So, he or she can more easily and efficiently exchange XML documents between corporations using this system.

  • XML documents used for exchanging structured documents between heterogeneous distributed systems are spreading among B2B and the industrial world rapidly. This condition brings an object-oriented visualization tool for modeling XML documents. It is hard to apply for DTD - the rule for declaring document type, which is employed in XML, to various industrial field. Thus, W3C announced Recommendation for XML Schema - the rule for declaring new document type which is adaptable to XML and satisfy to user. Document Type which has high reusability and flexibility can be defined owing to that XML Schema is designed by utilization of Object-Oriented-Modelling technique(UML). This document is proposed the specification and an algorithm for mapping XML Schema to UML.
