하이브리드 용접방식을 이용한 박판 및 후판용접공정 (Hybrid Welding Process for Sheet Metal and Narrow Gap Fill Pass)

  • An application of innovative laser+GMA hybrid welding process is presented for reducing bead humping defects in high speed welding and increasing side wall fusion in narrow groove welding without torch or wire oscillation. In this hybrid process, the laser heat input is applied adjacent to the weld pool at a relatively low power density to produce a wider, flatter weld bead. In bead on plate in sheet metal gauges, the hybrid process was able to produce hump-free welds from 70ipm (${\sim}1780mm/min$) to over 150ipm (${\sim}3810mm/min$) of the travel speed compared to the un-assisted GMAW process. A square-butt joint in 15mm A572 Gr50 steel welds was investigated. A square butt joint with a gap of 3.2mm was filled with 6 passes. Liquid Nitrogen calorimetry and innovative $CO_2$ laser reflective optics were also developed to demonstrate the concept of hybrid welding.

OPTIMAL PROCESSING AND SYSTEM MANUFACTURING OF A LASER WELDED TUBE FOR AN AUTOMOBILE BUMPER BEAM

  • A study has been conducted for an optimal processing and an apparatus for manufacturing a laser welded tube for one-body formed bumper beam. The tube dimensions used in calculation were the thickness of 1.4 mm, the diameter of 105.4 mm and the length of 2000 mm. The tube was formed of a cold rolled high strength steel plate(tensile strength of 600 MPa). The two-roll bending method was the optimal tube forming process in comparison with the UO-bending method, the bending method on the press brake, the multi-step continuous roll-forming method and the 3-roll bending method. Monitoring of the welding quality was conducted and the seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis was also examined. The longitudinal butt-joint was welded by using a $CO_2$ laser welding machine equipped with a seam tracker and a plasma sensor. The $CO_2$ laser tube welding machine could be used for precise seam tracking and real-time monitoring of the welding quality. As a result, the developed laser welded tube could be used for a one-body formed automobile bumper beam.

연강 판재의 맞대기 용접에서 아크에 작용하는 자기력의 해석 (Analysis of Electro-Magnetic Force Acting on Arc Column in Butt-Joint Welding of Mild Steel Plate)

  • Arc blow being occurred by Electro-Magnetic force(EMF) during the electric arc welding prevents the formation of a sound weldment. In this study, the effects of arc position, groove size, tack weld and base plate on the EMF in a butt-joint welding of mild steel plate are analyzed by a computer simulation based on the finite element method. The EMF can be numerically identified to be caused by a difference of the magnetic flux-density between ahead of and behind the arc in case that the workpiece locates asymmetrically around the uc. When there exists an air gap of groove ahead of the arc in the welding direction, the similar magnetic force has been producted regardless of the arc position and the gap size. The tack weld alleviates the magnetic force to about one fourth at the finish end of the workpiece. The magnetic force can be also significantly reduced with the base plate to about one fifth at the start end of the workpiece containing a tack weld.

비정질 코아 변압기의 설계 및 해석 기술

  • 비정질 core의 Butt-lap-step joint model의 자계를 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석한 결과, step당 리본 수의 변화, 설계자속밀도의 변화, 코아 연결부의 형상 변화에 따른 특성을 분석하면 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. (1) Step당 리본 수의 변화에 따른 영향에서 리본수가 작을수록 코아 전체의 flux density의 편차가 작으며 최대값 역시 낮으므로 유리하다. (2) 설계자속밀도의 변화에 따른 코아 부위의 자속 변화는 인가하는 설계자속밀도의 값이 높을수록 균일한 자장 분포를 얻을 수 있다. (3) 코아의 적층 방법의 변화에서는 Butt-Lap-Step방식이 가장 유리한 결과를 얻을 수 있었지만 코아 곡률부의 형상 변화가 중요한 요소로 작용한다. (4) 최적 step수, ribbon/group 수, airgap 길이 등은 전체 model의 특성, 손실, 제작성 등을 고려하여 결정하는 것이 바람직하며, 유한요소법의 해석으로는 전체적인 비정질 코아 변압기의 전기적인 특성과 경향을 도식화하여 설계자에게 좋은 설계방향과 정보를 제공할 수 있게 된다. 또한 비정질 코아의 특성상 종래의 일반적인 유한요소법으로는 많은 계산시간과 큰 computer system을 요구하는 core의 미세부분의 해석은 새로운 계산기법을 도입하여 계산해야 할 것이다. 이러한 문제해결을 위하여 3절에서 설명한 Asymptotic Expansion을 이용하여 균질화(homogenized)된 투자율 (또는 reluctivity)를 산출하고, 여기에 유한요소기법을 도입하여 단점을 보완한 새로운 기법의 algorithm을 개발하고 있으며, 이 기법은 계산시간의 단축과 Microscopic하게 자속밀도 분포를 관찰 할 수 있으므로 joint 부분의 자속경로와 손실 등 비정질 코아의 설계 Parameter를 설정하는 결정적인 역할을 할수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

평판의 맞대기 이음 용접시의 가로수축에 관한 연구 (A study on the transverse shrinkage for the butt joint welding of plate)

  • The mechanism of transverse shrinkage for the butt joint weldig of plates is investigated in this paper. It was certified that the compressive plastic strain due to thermal expansion of materials during heating play an important role on the transverse shrinkage. It was also pointed out that the transverse shrinkage has to be treated with the samples of which the shapes are as close to real shapes of welded materials as possible, because the distribution of temperature and relative rigidity of materials during welding have great influence on the transverse shrinkage. The formulas for the calculation of transverse shrinkage were presented and the experiments were carried out in order to verify the formulas. the main results are as follows; 1. For the bead-on-plate welding, the transverse shrinkage in the begining parts of welding is the smallest, the end parts is next and the transverse shrinkage of mid section is the largest. 2. In bead-on-plate welding, the equations presented in this paper concerning transverse shrinkage coincide fairly well with the experimental values generally. 3. Transverse shrinkage increases generally as specific heat input per unit thickness increaes.

  • Optimal process and system to produce the laser welded tube for one body formed bumper beam are studied. The calculated size of tube is a thickness of 1.4mm, diameter of 105.4mm and length of 2000mm. The tube is shaped from a cold rolled high strength steel sheet(tensile strength: 60kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ grade). Two roll bending method is the optimal tube shaping process compared to UO-bending, bending on press brake, multi-step continuous roll forming and 3 roll bending methods. Weld quality monitoring and seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis are also studied. The longitudinal butt-joint is welded by the $CO_2$ laser welding system equipped with a seam tracker and plasma sensor. The constructed $CO_2$laser tube welding system can be used for the precision seam tracking and the real-time monitoring of weld quality. Finally, the obtained laser welded tube can be used for one-body formed automobile bumper beam.

이종재료 레이저 용접 판재의 저주기 피로 특성 (The Low Cycle Fatigue Behavior of Laser Welded Sheet Metal for Different Materials)

  • In this study, low fatigue behavior of laser welded sheet metal were investigated. Before welding, the cross section of butt joint was prepared only by fine shearing without milling process. Specimens were same sheet metal and welding condition that using automobile manufacturing company at present. Butt joint of cold rolled sheet metal was welded by $CO_2$ laser. It is used that welding condition such as laser welding speed was 5.5m/sec and laser output power was 5kW for 0.8mm and 1.2mm sheet metal. The laser weldments were machined same or different thickness and same or different material. In order to mechanical properties of around welding zone, hardness test was performed. Hardness of welding bead is about 2 times greater than base material. We performed the low cycle fatigue tests for obtaining fatigue properties about thickness and the weld line direction of specimen. The results of strain controlled low cycle fatigue test indicate that all specimens occur cyclic softening, as indicated by the decrease in stress to reach a prescribed strain.

GMA 초층용접에서 이면비드 생성을 위한 최적용접조건의 선정 (Selection of an Optimal Welding Condition for Back Bead Formation in GMA Root Pass Welding)

  • In GMAW processes, bead geometry is a criterion to estimate welding quality. Bead geometry is affected by welding current, arc voltage, welding speed, shielding gas and so on. Thus the welding condition has to be selected carefully. In this paper, an experimental method for the selection of optimal welding condition was proposed in the root pass welding which was done along the GMA V-grooved butt weld joint. This method uses the response surface analysis in which the width and height of back bead were chosen as the quality variables of the weld. The overall desirability function, which is the combined desirability function for the two quality variables, was used as the objective function for getting the optimal welding condition. Through the experiments, the target values of the back bead width and the height were chosen as 4mm and 1mm respectively for the V-grooved butt weld joint. From a series of welding test, it was revealed that a uniform weld bead can be obtained by adopting the optimal welding condition which was determined according to the method proposed.

Fatigue Resistance Improvement of Welded Joints by Bristle Roll-Brush Grinding

  • In the periodic repainting of steel bridges, often the steel surface has to be prepared by using power tools to remove surface contaminants, such as deteriorated paint film and rust, and to increase the adhesive strengths of the paint films to be applied newly. Surface preparation by bristle roll-brush grinding, which is a type of power tool, may additionally introduce compressive residual stress and increase the fatigue resistance of welded joints owing to the impact of rotating bristle tips. In this study, fatigue tests were conducted for longitudinally out-of-plane gusset fillet welded joints and transversely butt-welded joints to evaluate the effect of bristle roll-brush grinding prior to repainting on the fatigue resistance of the welded joints. The test results showed that bristle roll-brush grinding introduced compressive residual stress and significantly increased fatigue limits by over 50%.

임플란트 고정체-지대주 연결부 및 지대주 디자인이 기계적 강도에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Implant Fixture-Abutment Connection and Abutment Design on Mechanical Strength)

  • 골유착성 임플란트 보철물에서 피로나 과하중에 의해 보철유지 나사나 지대주 나사의 파절, 보철물의 파절, 또는 고정체의 파절 등과 같은 기계적 강도와 연관된 문제점이 발생할 가능성이 높다. 임플란트 시스템의 기계적인 강도에 영향을 주는 요소에는 고정체와 나사의 직경, 재료적 특성, 연결부 디자인, 지대주 디자인 등이 있으며, 이 중 임플란트 고정체와 지대주간의 연결부 디자인은 임플란트 시스템의 기계적인 연결상태와 연결부 안정성을 결정하는 주요소이다. 대부분의 기계적 강도에 관한 연구에서처럼 단일하중에 의한 압축굽힘강도나, 단기적인 반복하중 후의 결과만을 평가하여 임플란트 시스템의 장기적인 안정성을 예측하기에는 한계가 있다. 연구 목적: 이에 본 연구에서는 external butt joint와 internal conical joint를 갖는 임플란트 시스템(오스템사)의 연결부 디자인에서 각각 다른 두 가지 지대주를 사용하여, 연결부 및 지대주 디자인이 기계적 강도에 미치는 영향을 압축굽힘강도는 물론 내구성한계를 측정하여 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: External butt joint인 US II에서는 통상적인 UCLA 지대주 형태의 Cemented abutment(BJT)와 굽힘 저항성을 증가시키기 위해 나사 두부가 지대주 상단에 위치하도록 설계된 Safe abutment(BJS)를, internal conical joint인 SS II에서는 one-piece형의 Solid abutment(CJO)와 two-piece형의 ComOcta abutment(CJT)를 지대주로 사용하였다. ISO 규정을 참고하여 단일 임플란트, 변연골 흡수, 그리고 $30^{\circ}$ 경사하중 조건에서 압축굽힘강도와 내구성한계를 측정하였고 실패 양상을 관찰한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 결과 및 결론: 1. 압축굽힘강도는 BJS군(1392.0N), CJO군(1261.8N), BJT군(1153.2N), 그리고 CJT군(1110.2N) 순으로 낮아졌으며(P<.05), CJT군과 BJT군 사이에는 차이가 없었다(P>.05) 2. 내구성한계는 CJO군(600N), CJT군(453N), BJS군(360N) 그리고 BJT군(300N) 순으로 낮아졌다. 3. 압축굽힘강도는 연결부 디자인 또는 지대주 디자인에 따라 차이를 보였으며, 내구성한계에 있어서는 연결부 디자인이 더 주된 요소로 작용하였다.
