  • In today's competitive business environment it is a necessary condition for a company to produce high-quality product for its survival and growth. That is the case in the auto-part industry as well where the international standards, ISO/TS 16949 certification, are required by customers to adopt mandatory. This study presents a successful implementation of quality management system(QMS) in a major auto-part manufacturer in Korea, utilizing SAP's QM(qualaity management) module and a mobile office system. The QMS brought the company "A" a variety of benefits such as real-time availability of product-inspection data, speedy decision-making, reduction in time required for defect-handling, ease of vertical integration of business partners in supply chain, and ease of business process standardization between headquarters and overseas subsidiaries. It is expected that the findings of this study can be used as a useful guideline for companies to consider implementing ERP-based quality management systems successfully.

As a result, first, the role of the PMO was found to have an influential on the project performance. Second, the PM leadership was verified to has a moderating effect in the relationship between the PMO role and the project performance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influential of the role of PMO on project performance in the construction industry to suggest the necessity of PMO in the construction industry and the need to adopt PMO in large-scale construction projects and analyze the moderating effect of PM leadership on project performance.

  • Book adaptation has been considered an effective strategy in filmmaking. This paper examines the relationship between the box office sales and the performance of its original book focusing on category extension, especially investigating reciprocal spillover effect from a movie to the book. With empirical data, two-way causality between performance of the extension brand (i.e., movies) and that of the parent brand (i.e., books) was examined to test the existence of reciprocal spillover effect. In addition, a linear model was used to test the moderating roles of extension characteristics. The results revealed that the higher the movie's box office sales, the higher the original book's sales after movie's release. The authors also found moderation effects such that if the book has high level of brand awareness prior to movie's release, or if there is a movie tie-in version, or when the book is mentioned in movie trailer, or if the movie is released shortly after the book's publication, then the strength of spillover effect is superior. The current empirical investigation is meaningful considering it provides implications to both buyers and sellers of the extension rights, contributing to the literature of reciprocal spillover effects in category extension.

  • The actual clothing conditions were surveyed to diagnose clothing condition of Korean female in the view point of the adaptation to the thermal environment according to seasonal changes. Then, clothing microclimate, physiological responses, and subjective sensation were investigated through wearing trials on human body in climatic chamber based on the results from the survey. Factors to evaluate validity of clothing condition were clothing weight, clothing microclimate, physiological response of human body, and subjective sensation. The results were as follows: 1. Clothing weight per body surface area of the season was $856g/m^{2}$, $439g/m^{2}$ in summer, $630g/m^{2}$ in fall, and $1184g/m^{2}$ in winter. Cold - resistance of Korean female in office was superior to Japanese, inferior to residents of rural areas of Korea, and similar to male in office. However, in heat - resistance, female in office was inferior to residents of rural areas of Korea. 2. In spring, fall, winter, clothing microclimate temperature was a little higher than that in summer. Therefore, it was not a desirable wearing condition even though the clothing microclimate was comfortable zone. 3. Mean skin temperature of female in office was including within the range of Winslow's comfortable zone, but the range of comfortable zone in mean skin temperature of female was more narrow than Winslow's. Thus, it has problem for female to adaptation to thermal environment.

IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), WRI/WBCSD (World Resources Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development)

  • Sociological, technical, and organizational changes have affected the culture of business in many ways. These changes are now encouraging new concepts in the workplace environment such as emotional approaches for a more creative and humanistic workplace let alone enhancing image of the company. The aim of this study is to understand current situations of common office areas and serve as a stepping stone for designing more creative and stimulating work environments. The study first examines concepts of new office designs in our modem society, then defines categories such as territorial fuzziness, eco-friendly, fun and play. Secondly, by using content analysis as research tool the researchers have investigated how the conceptual categories and detailed design presentation methods are shown in workplace designs in Korea. Scope of study is limited to 39 office design projects from 2002-2008 presented in the Korean monthly magazine 'Interiors'. As results. territorial fuzziness was found to be most popular method while play the least. For application wise, meeting rooms, rest area and hallways were places where these concepts appear the most. Even though, these new approaches in office designs can be found in our domestic offices, still more experimental and active approach seems to be needed.

  • The importance of applying project management in interior design has been increased due to recent changes in construction business environment along with market opening which demands more systematized and organized project management system. Yet, project management has not been utilized for interior design industry in Korea. This study intends to define the concept of project management in interior design, categorize tasks of each phase in office design project, and establish a table of elements which should be considered in each task. The table can be utilized as a checklist at the designing site. An in-depth analysis was conducted on the tasks in the Designing phase. In short, this study demonstrates five management phases and nine tasks. The differentiated checklist for office design is discussed in the project management of the Design phase. The checklist established in this study can be used as a practical guideline not only for the clients who are not familiar with management of design project, but also for existing project managers and interior designers. Further studies on management of design projects and development of checklist other than office design is needed.

  • This research classified fashion merchandisers into different categories depending on the type of companies they worked for and inquired into their line of work. In so doing, the authors attempted to outline the work for merchandise mix performed by each type of merchandiser and provide some raw data, which can be utilized to enhance their work efficiency. The evaluation tool used for this study was the questionnaire made on the basis of preceding studies, literature, and trade journals, which was then modified through one on one interviews with fashion merchandisers. The questionnaire contained 15 questions about merchandise mix. For data analysis, SPSS Package Program was used to conduct frequency analysis, ANOVA, and Tukey's test. The findings are as follows 1. National brand merchandisers spent most time on merchandise planning, then department store buyers, followed by imported brand merchandisers, and lastly buying office merchandisers. 2. In merchandise planning, National brand merchandisers did more work overall compared to other merchandisers. In production planning, buying office merchandisers spent more time than any others on searching for new suppliers and decision-making. 3. Production planning took up a greater portion of their work for National brand merchandisers and buying office merchandisers compared to department store buyers and imported brand merchandisers. 4. Imported brand merchandisers spent more time on purchase planning and actual purchase compared to any others.
