선택적 가스분리를 위한 활성탄소섬유의 분자체 특성 연구 (Studies on Molecular Sieve Characteristics of Activated Carbon Fibers for Selective Gas Separation)

  • 선택적 가스분리를 위한 분자체탄소(Molecular Sieve Carbon: MSC)로서의 활용을 위해 제조된 활성탄소섬유의 흡착능과 분자체 특성이 다양한 분자크기를 갖는 가스 흡착실험을 통해 조사되었다. 각 활성화 조건별 세공크기분포와 세공발달 전개과정을 유추함으로서, 세공크기분포의 조절이 가능하게 되었으며 활성탄소섬유의 분자체 탄소로서 활용을 용이하게 할 수 있었다. 800, 85$0^{\circ}C$의 온도로 수증기에 의해 활성화한 활성탄소섬유의 경우 burn-off가 각각 50, 40% 정도를 가진 활성탄소섬유가 비교적 작은 분자크기(0.3~0.4nm)의 흡착질에 대한 분자체 특성을 나타냈다. 또한, 다양한 분자크기의 흡착질을 포함하는 혼합가스의 유속과 흡착온도의 조절로서 원하는 흡착질의 선택적 분리를 위해 활성탄소섬유가 갖는 분자체 특성 향상을 보였다.

Sorption of $Pb^{2+}$ Ions on to Activated Carbons Prepared from Olive Stones

  • The carbon sample "O", phosphoric acid-activated carbon "OP", zinc chloride-activated carbon "OZ", and two steam activated carbons "OS" and "OS2" with different burn-off of 25% and 58% respectively, were prepared from olive stones. The textural properties were determined from the results of nitrogen adsorption at 77 K and by analyzing these results through the application of different adsorption models. The chemistry of the carbon surfaces was determined from the base neutralization capacities, acid neutralization capacity and surface pH. The sorption of $Pb^{2+}$ ions on to the carbons prepared was followed under dynamic and equilibrium conditions. The differences between the values of the textural parameters were attributed to the inapplicability of some adsorption models and to the heterogeneity of the microporous carbons. The sorption of $Pb^{2+}$ ions is favored on carbon and activated carbons. However, chemically activated carbons are more effective compared with steam-activated ones. The sorption of $Pb^{2+}$ ions were related to the chemistry of the surface rather than to the textural properties.

강 의 마찰용접 에 미치는 탄소당량 의 영향 - 동종강 에 대하여

  • In this study, the influence of carbon equivalents on friction welds of similar steels was investigated. Four types of steels with 15mm diameter tested in the wide range of carbon equivalents from 0.3 to 1.1 Main experimental results are summarized as follows : (1) Under the constant burn-off length, the friction time becomes longer with the increasing carbon equivalent, but the upset length shows no consistent tendencies. (2) Due to the recrystallization in the contact area, the maximum hardness occurs some away from the contact surface. And it increases almost linearly with the increasing carbon equivalent. (3) Even a steel with 1.1 C.E. can be friction welded to make defect-free welds. (4) With the increasing carbon equivalent, the bend angle and charpy impact value decrease very rapidly in the range from 0.3 C. E., but remain nearly unchanged for C. E. higher than 0.6. (5) Heat treatment of the base metals before welding has very little influence on the mechanical properties of welds. On the other hand, normalizing of the welds improves the bend angle and charpy impact value, but its effect becomes almost negligible, when the carbon equivalents are higher than 0.6.

A Structural Study of the Activated Carbon Fibers as a Function of Activation Degrees

  • Isotropic pitch-based carbon fiber was isothermally activated in $CO_2$ atmosphere. Structural parameters of the isotropic carbon fibers and activated carbon fibers (ACFs) were evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The $d_{002}$ and La of the carbon fibers were measured to be 4.04 ${\AA}$ and 23.6 ${\AA}$ and those of ACFs were 4.29 ${\AA}$ and 22.7 ${\AA}$, respectively, representing less ordered through activation process. The pores in the ACFs were characterized by BET, and they showed super-high specific surface area of maximum value 3,495 $m^2/g$ from average pore size of 8.3 ${\AA}$ at 59% burn-off. It was recognized that 8-9 ${\AA}$ was optimum range of pore size for efficient creation of high specific surface area. The average size of the pores formed at higher temperature ($1100^{\circ}C$) was larger than that of the pores formed at lower temperature ($900^{\circ}C$).

Preparation of Activated Carbon Fiber from Chemically Modified Coal-tar Pitch

  • Cabon fiber of general purpose was prepared from coal tar pitch modified with 10% benzoquinine(BQ) at 380C for 3 hours. Such a modified pitch raised the softening of the pitch from 85C to 271C at the yield of 40%. The modified pitch was spun smoothly at a rate of 480m/min into a fiber of 20um diameter. The fiber was stabilized stepwise at 236C (5C/min) and 312C (1C/min) for 3 hours each. Both carbonized and graphitized fibers exhibited tensile strength of 570MPa which appears large enough as a precursor for active carbon fiber. The activated carbon fiber prepared exhibited relatively high surface area of 2062m2/g at 76% burn-off and rather narrow distribution pore size of 20A.

  • 항공기 배기가스가 지구의 현재와 미래의 기후에 미치는 잠재적 영향력은 항공산업계가 당면하고 있는 매우 중요한 환경 이슈 중 하나이다. 온실가스 배출의 잠재적 악영향에 대한 우려가 증가함에 따라 항공기의 배기가스 배출을 줄이고 기후에 관한 항공기의 영향을 완화하는 수단 중 하나로 항공기 배기가스를 산정하고 예측하는 시스템 개발의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 영국 Lissys사에서 개발한 Piano-X 소프트웨어를 사용하여 3가지 항공기 급에 대한 다양한 비행거리와 경로에 대해 유상하중의 변화에 따른 항공기 온실가스 배출량을 산정하였다. 다양한 항속거리와 고도에 따른 경제속도, 장거리 순항속도, 최대 운항거리 속도에 대해 연료소모량도 분석하였다.

활성탄소섬유-세라믹복합체의 제조 및 물성 (Preparation of Activated Carbon Fiber-Ceramic Composites and Its Physical Properties)

  • 탄화된 PAN 섬유, 페놀수지, 세라믹 결합체를 혼합하여 탄소섬유-세라믹복합체를 제조한 후 활성화시켜 PAN 섬유의 탄화온도에 따른 활성탄소섬유-세라믹복합체의 비표명적과 굽힘 강도변화를 연구하였다. 안정화 PAN 섬유를 80$0^{\circ}C$와 100$0^{\circ}C$에서 각각 탄화시켜 얻은 두 종류의 탄소섬유를 복합체 제작시편의 원료로 사용하였다. 탄소섬유-세라믹복합체를 10~90분간 CO2로 85$0^{\circ}C$에서 활성화시켜 얻은 두 종류의 활성복합체에 대한 물성 측정결과, 80$0^{\circ}C$로 PAN 섬유를 탄화시켜 만든 활성복합체의 burn-off이 37%에서 76%로 증가될 때 비표면적은 493m2/g에서 1090m2/g으로 증가하였으며, 굽힘강도는 4.5 MPa에서 1.4MPa로 감소하였다. 이 값들은 안정화 PAN 섬유의 탄화온도를 100$0^{\circ}C$로하여 활성복합체 시편이 나타내는 값보다 약 2배 정도 큰 값이었다. 비표면적, 굽힘강도 측정결과와 미세조직 관찰결과, PAN 섬유의 탄화온도가 활성복합체의 비표면적과 굽힘강도에 미치는 영향은 활성화시 탄소섬유와 페놀수지탄화체 또는 세라믹 필름간에 발생되는 결합력과 상대적인 수축율에 의해 결정되는 활성복합체의 구조특성에 기인된 것으로 해석하였다.

핵연료 계장을 위한 천공조건에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Drilling Conditions for the Instrumentation of Nuclear Fuel)

  • To develop a new nuclear fuel, it needs to make a test fuel rod and carry out burn-up test in the test loop of a research reactor to check the irradiation characteristics of the nuclear fuel. At that time, several sensors such as thermocouples, LVDTs and SPNDs are needed to be attached in and out of the fuel rod and connect them with instrumentation cables. Then, the instrumentation cables deliver the signals measured by the sensors to the measuring device located outside of the reactor pool. In particular, to install a thermocouple in a fuel rod, it needs to drill off holes on the alumina blocks and sintered $UO_2$ pellets. However, because the hardness of a sintered $UO_2$ pellet is 700 Hv (or HRC 61) and that of an alumina block is 1480 Hv, a special drilling machine which adapts a diamond coated drill bit had developed. In this study, several case experiments have been carried out to find an optimal drilling condition of the drilling machine. And, using the optimal drilling condition, minimum numbers of the holes that a drill bit can drill off are verified.

이산화탄소를 이용한 등방성 탄소섬유의 활성화과정 중 발생하는 구조변화(I)-XRD를 이용한 분석 (Microstructural Changes during Activation Process of Isotopic Carbon Fibers using CO2 Gas(I)-XRD Study)

  • The structural parameters such as Lc, La and d of $CO_2$activated isotropic carbon fibers(ACFs) were obtained from XRD in order to understand a development mechanism of micropores. And the structural parameters were compared with specific surface area(SSA) data. The $d_{002}$, Lc, and La of the original fiber were measured to be 4.04$\AA$, 6.2$\AA$, and 23.6$\AA$, respectively. Carbonization of outer-parts and oxidization of inner-parts of the original fibers were far from completeness. It was observed that the structural changes of the ACFs during activation take place severely, therefore the carbonization and the oxidization of the fibers take place simultaneous with pore developments. The $d_{002}$ of the ACFs was increased to be 2.80$\AA$, and the La of the ACFs was decreased to be 17.0$\AA$ by activation. It was shown that the pores are developed continuously from the outer-parts to the inner-parts of the fibers, therefore the SSA increases as a result of the development of pores fully to the inner-parts of the fiber when the burn-off degree was over :39%. It seems that the (002) planes of crystallites contribute to the micropore wall related to the super high SSA.SSA.

  • 본 논문은 우발적 화재에 노출되면 이상 온도를 감지하고, 자동으로 반응하여 추진제를 연소시킴으로써, 고체 추진기관의 위험 정도를 완화시키는 둔감 점화 장치의 반응을 연구한 결과이다. Kissinger 식으로 구한 둔감 점화 장치 신호 화약의 자동 점화 온도는 $165.5^{\circ}C$이었지만, 추진기관에 장착하고 MIL-STD-2105D의 규정에 따라 수행한 완속 가열 시험에서는 약 $140^{\circ}C$에서 연소 반응을 하였다.
