An Empirical Study about the Segmented Cell in Anode Side of PEMFC

  • The present study focused on the segmented cell which has the similar performance to unaltered (not segmented) cell in real operating condition. Many literatures have been made the segmented cell to observe the behavior of local current density distribution in the single cell. However, it has been lack of scheme to segment the cell in that the detailed interpretation of segmenting in analytic point of view was insufficient. Hence, the basic idea of segmenting was introduced to determine the component to be segmented in anode side of unit cell. The electrical contact/bulk resistance was measured by using four wire/probe method through each part of cell components including MEA, GDL, Bipolar Plate and Current Collector. Electron transport mechanism was predicted by comparing resistance values which were obtained from the experiment. As a result, this offered a great benefit to segment the cell efficiently. With this method further experiments would be conducted in research areas which require current density distribution at the same operating condition as unaltered cell.

Can be the dielectric constant of thin films as-grown at room temperature higher than that of its bulk material?

  • The $Bi_2Mg_{2/3}Nb_{4/3}O_7$ (BMNO)-Bi composite films sandwiched by an $Al_2O_3$ protection layer exhibited a linear increase of a dielectric constant with increasing thickness and the 1000nm-thick BMNO-Bi composite films showed a dielectric constant (~220) higher than that of its bulk material (~210), keeping a low leakage current density of about $0.1{\mu}A/cm^2$. An enhancement of the dielectric constant in the BMNO-Bi composite films was attributed to the hybrid model combined by a space charge polarization, dipolar response, and nano-capacitors. On the other hand, 1000nm-thick BMNO-Bi composite films sandwiched by 40nm-thick BMNO layer exhibited a dielectric constant of about 450 at 100 kHz and a leakage current density of $0.1{\mu}A/cm^2$ at 6V.

  • Manufacturing bulk nanostructured materials with least grain growth from initial powders is challenging because of the bottle neck of bottom-up methods using the conventional powder metallurgy of compaction and sintering. In this study, bottom-up type powder metallurgy processing and top-down type SPD (Severe Plastic Deformation) approaches were combined in order to achieve both real density and grain refinement of metallic powders. ECAP (Equal Channel Angular Pressing), one of the most promising processes in SPD, was used for the powder consolidation method. For understanding the ECAP process, investigating the powder density as well as internal stress, strain distribution is crucial. We investigated the consolidation and plastic deformation of the metallic powders during ECAP using the finite element simulations. Almost independent behavior of powder densification in the entry channel and shear deformation in the main deformation zone was found by the finite element method. Effects of processing parameters on densification and density distributions were investigated.

분말식품의 마이크로파 유전율 및 수분함량 측정 (Measurement of Permittivity and Moisture Content of Powdered Food at Microwave Frequencies)

  • In this study, the microwave free-space transmission technique was used to measure the dielectric property of powdered food at microwave frequencies. The sample holder was designed and fabricated to transmit the microwave signals ranging from 1 to 15GHz. From the microwave propagation theory the equation expressing the dielectric property of powdered food was derived and validated by standard dielectrics. The dielectric property of powdered food such as wheat flour, coffee powder and milk powder was measured and analyzed. In the uniform range of bulk density of material, the real parts of permittivity of the food samples increased with the increase of moisture content, bulk density and temperature of the samples. The propagation properties such as attenuation and phase shift increased linearly as the moisture density of the food samples increased. As a measuring frequency of the moisture content, the X-band was recommended.

W(110)위에 성장한 Fe 웃층의 전자 및 자기적 성질 (The Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Fe Overlayers on W(110))

  • 비자성 천이금속인 W의 (110)표면 위에 성장한 강자성 Fe 원자층의 전자적 성질 및 자기적 성질을 국소밀도근사 범위 내의 Full Potential Linearized Augmented Plane Wave (FLAPW) 방법을 이용하여 계산하였다. 이 계산에서 W, Fe의 층간 거리는 bull값을 이용하였으며 표면이완 및 계면이완은 고려하지 않았다. 전하밀도, 스핀밀도, 자기 모멘트, 접촉 초미세장, 2차원 띠구조, 각층의 상태밀도 등의 계산결과를 제시하였다. Fe 웃층이 1층인 경우, Fe의 자기모멘트는 2.56 ${\mu}_B$로 bulk에 비해 16% 증가하였고, Fe 웃층이 2층인 경우 표면 및 계면을 이루는 Fe층의 자기 모멘트는 각각 2.90과 2.30 ${\mu}_B$로 평균 자기모멘트는 bulk에 비해 약 18% 증가한 것으로 나타났다. Fe 층수가 1층일 때 자기초미세장의 크기는 2층일 때와는 큰 차이를 보여주고 있다. 깨끗한 Fe(110)의 결과와 비교함으로써 W과의 띠혼합 효과와 격자상수 확장 효과에 대해 논의하고 실험결과의 계산결과를 비교 검토하여 보았다.

오일부 운전조건 변화에 따른 수소용 다이어프램 압축기의 성능예측에 대한 수치해석 (A Numerical Analysis on a Dependence of Hydrogen Diaphragm Compressor Performance on Hydraulic Oil Conditions)

  • The specific some types of compressors are appropriate for a use in hydrogen gas station. Metal diaphragm type of hydrogen compressor is one of them, which can satisfy the critical requirements of maintaining gas purity and producing high pressure over 850 bar. The objective of this study is to investigate an characteristics of compression through two-way Fluid-Structure-Interaction (FSI) analysis as bulk modulus and initial volume of oil independently varies. Deflection of diaphragm, oil density, gas and oil pressure were analyzed during a certain period of compression process. According to the analysis results, bulk modulus and initial volume remarkably affected deflection of diaphragm, oil density, gas and oil pressure. The highest gas pressure were attained with the highest bulk modulus of $7e^9\;N/m^2$ and the lowest initial oil volume of 80 cc.

Tc and Jc distribution in in situ processed MgB2 bulk superconductors with/without C doping

  • Temperature dependence of magnetic moment (m-T) and the magnetization (M-H) at 5 K and 20 K of the in situ processed $MgB_2$ bulk pellets with/without carbon (C) doping were examined. The superconducting critical temperature ($T_c$), the superconducting transition width (${\delta}T$) and the critical current density ($J_c$) were estimated for ten test samples taken from the $MgB_2$ bulk pellets. The reliable m-T characteristics associated with the uniform $MgB_2$ formation were obtained for both $MgB_2$ pellets. The $T_cs$ and ${\delta}Ts$ of all test samples of the undoped $MgB_2$ were the same each other as 37.5 K and 1.5 K, respectively. The $T_cs$ and ${\delta}Ts$ of the C-doped $MgB_2$ were 36.5 K and 2.5 K, respectively. Unlike the m-T characteristics, there existed the difference among the M-H curves of the test samples, which might be caused by the microstructure variation. In spite of the slight $T_c$ decrease, the C doping was effective in enhancing the $J_c$ at 5 K.

벌크 TiO2 산소 공공 결함에 대한 이론적 이해 (Theoretical Insights into Oxygen Vacancies in Reduced Bulk TiO2: A Mini Review)

  • Titanium dioxide (TiO2) holds significant scientific and technological relevance as a key photocatalyst and resistive random-access memory, demonstrating unique physicochemical properties and serving as an n-type semiconductor. Understanding the density and arrangement of oxygen vacancies (VOs) is crucial for tailoring TiO2's properties to diverse technological needs, driving increased interest in exploring oxygen vacancy complexes and superstructures. In this mini review, we summarize the recent understandings of the fundamental properties of oxygen vacancies in bulk rutile (R-TiO2) and anatase (A-TiO2) based on DFT and beyond method. We specifically focus on the excess electrons and their spatial arrangement of disordered single VO in bulk R and A-TiO2, aligned with the experimental findings. We also highlight the theoretical works on investigating the geometries and stabilities of ordered VOs complexes in bulk TiO2. This comprehensive review provides insights into the fundamental properties of excess electrons in reduced TiO2, offering valuable perspectives for future research and technological advancements in TiO2-based devices.

HVPE 법에서의 공정변수 조절에 의한 bulk GaN 단결정의 두께 최적화 (Thickness optimization of the bulk GaN single crystal grown by HVPE processing variable control)

  • 다양한 성장온도, V/III 비율, 성장속도과 같은 공정변수의 조절을 통하여 GaN 단결정을 성장시키고, 그에 따른 표면 및 재료 내부의 결함분석을 통하여 고휘도 고출력의 소자적용을 위한 bulk GaN 단결정의 두께를 최적화하였다. 2인치 직경의 sapphire 기판 위에 HVPE(hydride vapor phase epitaxy) 공정변수들을 조절하여, 0.3~7.0 mm 두께의 GaN 결정을 성장시켰다. 성장된 GaN 단결정의 구조분석을 위하여 XRD 분석을 사용하였고, 공정변수의 변화에 따른 표면 특성은 광학 현미경을 이용하여 관찰하였다. 성장된 두께에 따른 결함밀도 분석을 위하여 화학습식 에칭하였고, 에칭된 표면을 SEM으로 관찰하였다.

벌채적지(伐採跡地) 운재로(運材路)의 토양가밀도(土壤假密度) 변화(變化)와 자연식생회복(自然植生回復)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Variations of Soil Bulk Density and Natural Revegetation on the Logging Road of Timber Harvested-Sites)

  • 이 연구(硏究)는 벌채작업후(伐採作業後) 방치된 운재로의 조기식생회복(早期植生回復)을 위한 과학적(科學的)인 기초자료(基礎資料)를 제공할 목적(目的)으로 1989년(年)부터 1994년(年)까지 서울대학교(大學校) 농업생명과학대학(農業生命科學大學) 부속(附屬) 남부연습림(南部演習林) 백운산지구(白雲山地區) 제(第) 26 임반(林班), 제(第) 27 임반(林班)에 연차적(年次的)으로 개설(開設)된 운재로(運材路)를 대상(對象)으로 이 연구(硏究)를 수행하였다. 운재로(運材路) 노면(路面)의 토양교란(土壤攪亂)으로 인한 토양가밀도(土壤假密度)와 자연식생회복(自然植生回復)을 조사(調査) 분석(分析)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 운재로(運材路) 노면(路面)의 토양가밀도(土壤假密度)는 운재로 개설후 시간의 경과에 따라 자연임지(自然林地) 상태(狀態)로 회복(回復)되어 가는데 약 10년이 소요되며, 계산식(計算式)은 다음과 같다. $$Y_1=1.4195-0.0744{\cdot}X(R^2=0.91)$$, $$Y_2=1.4673-0.0688{\cdot}X(R^2=0.73)$$ (단, X : 경과년수, $Y_1$ : 토양 0~7.5cm의 가밀도, $Y_2$ : 토양 7.5~15cm의 가밀도) 수림대(樹林帶)를 조성(造成)하고 운재로(運材路)를 개설(開設)한 지역(地域)의 토양깊이별 가밀도(假密度)는 각각 $0.892g/cm^3$, $0.903g/cm^3$로 수림대를 조성하지 않은 운재로보다 약 20% 낮았다. 운재로(運材路) 절(切) 성토사면(盛土斜面), 노면(路面)에 침입하는 목본의 중요도(重要度)는 산딸기, 산벚나무, 참싸리 등의 순이었으며, 초본은 고사리, 새, 큰까치수영 등의 순이었다. 또한 운재로 폐쇄후 약 6년이 경과되었을 때 식생피복도(植生被覆度)는 절(切) 성토사면(盛土斜面)은 약 70%, 노면은 약 20%로 운재로의 폐쇄후 조기에 인공적(人工的)으로 식생회복(植生回復)을 도모하는 방안이 검토되어야 할 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 성숙임목수확(成熟林木收穫) 벌채지역(伐採地域)에서 운재로(運材路) 개설시(開設時)에는 수림대(樹林帶)를 조성하여야 하며, 운재로 사용이 완료된 후에는 녹화수목식재공사(綠化樹木植栽工事) 및 파종공사(播種工事)와 노면굴기작업(路面掘起作業) 등을 통하여 운재로(運材路) 노면(路面) 토양(土壤)의 조속(早速)한 회복(回復)과 식생피복녹화(植生被覆綠化)를 유도하여야 할 것이다.
