  • This paper addresses a method of enabling objects in an image to have apparent 3D motion. Many researchers have solved this issue by reconstructing 3D model from several images using image-based modeling techniques, or building a cube-modeled scene from camera calibration using vanishing points. This paper, however, presents the possibility of image-based motion without exact 3D information of scene geometry and camera calibration. The proposed system considers the image plane as a projective plane with respect to a view point and models a 2D frame of a projected 3D object using only lines and points. And a modeled frame refers to its vanishing points as local coordinates when it is transformed.

  • Vision-based tracking has been proposed as a means to efficiently track a large number of construction resources operating in a congested site. In order to obtain 3D coordinates of an object, it is necessary to employ stereo-vision theories. Detecting and tracking of multiple objects require an entity matching process that finds corresponding pairs of detected entities across the two camera views. This paper proposes an efficient way of entity matching for tracking of construction workers. The proposed method basically uses epipolar geometry which represents the relationship between the two fixed cameras. Each pixel coordinate in a camera view is projected onto the other camera view as an epipolar line. The proposed method finds the matching pair of a worker entity by comparing the proximity of the all detected entities in the other view to the epipolar line. Experimental results demonstrate its suitability for automated entity matching for 3D vision-based tracking of construction workers.

  • High-resolution satellite images offer abundance information of the earth surface for remote sensing applications. The information includes geometry, texture and attribute characteristic. The pixel-based image classification can't satisfy high-resolution satellite image's classification precision and produce large data redundancy. Object-oriented information extraction not only depends on spectrum character, but also use geometry and structure information. It can provide an accessible and truly revolutionary approach. Using Beijing Spot 5 high-resolution image and object-oriented classification with the eCognition software, we accomplish the cultures' precise classification. The test areas have five culture types including water, vegetation, road, building and bare lands. We use nearest neighbor classification and appraise the overall classification accuracy. The average of five species reaches 0.90. All of maximum is 1. The standard deviation is less than 0.11. The overall accuracy can reach $95.47\%.$ This method offers a new technology for high-resolution satellite images' available applications in remote sensing culture classification.

  • The interaction of plan geometry and structural configuration, a determinative factor in the earthquake behavior of buildings, has become a serious issue in the building industry in Turkey due to the poor seismic performance of R/C buildings during the latest earthquake. Consequently, designing new buildings without structural irregularities against earthquake loads is proving to be more significant. This study focuses on the effects of plan geometries on earthquake performances of buildings. In that respect, structural irregularities in the plan are investigated in detail based on the Turkish Earthquake Code (TEC 2007). The study is based on five main parametric models and a total of 40 sub-models that are grouped according to their plan geometries with excessive projections such as L-shaped, H-shaped, T-shaped and U-shaped models. In addition to these, a square model without any projections is also generated. All models are designed to have the same storey gross area but with different number of storeys. Changes in the earthquake behavior of buildings were evaluated according to the number of storeys, the projection ratios and the symmetry conditions of each model. The analysis of each structural irregularity resulted in many findings, which were then assessed. The study demonstrates that the square model delivers the best earthquake performance owing to its regular plan geometry.

  • Purpose: This paper aims to analyse the composition system of architectural elements including shape, kinetic and material elements of kinetic facades and establish the design parameter system as a common conceptual and practical knowledge sharing platform with mechanical and electrical experts. Method: This research has been conducted in a three steps. At first, 120 cases of external shading devices are analyzed and their classification criteria have been established. Secondly geometric, kinetic and material elements are categorized in a common kinetic facade coordinates system considering environmental effects and operation method, and the applicability of combination of each element are tested. Lastly core design parameters for each element have been established in a common office building installation coordinate. Result: Geometry elements are categorized into seven geometric shapes and kinetic elements is categorized into basic linear and rotational motion and combinational folding and rolling motion. The combined set of parameters for three elements composes the whole design parameters for architectural elements of kinetic façade. Design parameters of shape elements are composed of shape, installation and arrangement parameters; design parameters for kinetic elements are composed of axis and range parameters; and design parameters of material elements are composed of thermal, lighting and color parameters.

  • A study on machining electrode for LED (Light Emitted Diode) mold with shaped end-mill is presented. The electrode machining by shaped end-mill has been used for maximizing the productivity in manufacturing semiconductor mold. However, it has not been researched systematically for many difficulties such as the making of shaped end-mill, generation of tool path due to distinctive tool geometry, and so on. Tool path is generated on geometry of the shaped end-mill and cutting force to provide accurate and efficient machining of electrode. The verification program can drive enhancement of productivity, selecting cutting conditions from experiment function of cutting force. Also, compensation of tooling and maching error can make the electrode accurately by modifying tool path. Therefore, the research on machining with shaped end-mill can contribute to enhancement of accuracy and productivity in building semiconductor mold.

  • The present study aims to estimate the wind ventilation performance for pedestrian level domains from the air quality point of view. Three typical models of a dense urban area were considered and numerically simulated in order to examine the effects of the geometry of such models on wind flow characteristics, which in turn affect the air quality, within the pedestrian domain of a street canyon located within this area. The calculated flow fields were employed to estimate the exceedance probabilities within the study domain using a new approach: air exchange rate within the domain. The study has been applied to nine cities in Japan: Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Niigata, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sendai, Yokohama, and Kyoto, based on their mean wind velocity data. The results demonstrated that the exceedance probability analysis of the pedestrian wind environment could be a valuable tool during the design stage of inhabited areas for the evaluation of pollutant-removal efficiency by the applied wind. Also, the calculated probabilities demonstrated substantial dependence on both the geometry of building arrays and the wind conditions of the nine cities.

  • In this study, a pseudo ship structure data model for the :.hip cargo hold structure based on STEP is proposed. The proposed data model is based on Application Reference Model of AP218 Ship Structure which is the model that specifies conceptual structures and constraints used to describe the information requirements of an application. And the proposeddata model refers the Ship Common Model framework for the model architecture which is the basis for ongoing ship AP development within the ISO ship-building group and the ship product definition information model of CSDP research project for analyzing the relationship between ship structure model entities. The proposed data model includes Space, Compartment. Ship Structural System, Structural Part and Structural Feature of cargo hold. To generate this data model schema in EXPRESS format, ‘GX-Converter’was used which enables user to edit a model in EXPRESS format and convert schema file in EXPRESS format. Using this model schema, STEP physical file containing design data for ship cargo hold data structure was generated through SDAI programming. The another STEP physical file was also generated containing geometry data of ship cargo hold which was extracted and calculated by SDAI and external surface/surface intersection program. The geometry information of ship cargo hold can be then transferred to commercial CAD system, for example, Pro/Engineer. Examples of the modification of the design information are also Presented.

  • This paper presents a theoretical model for the behavior of partially confined axi-symmetric reinforced concrete members subjected to axial load. The analysis uses the theories of elasticity and plasticity to cover the full range of the concrete behavior. Analysis of the elastic range of the problem involves boundary conditions that are defined along a relatively simple geometry. However, extending the analysis into the plastic range involves difficulties that arise from the irregular geometry of the boundary between the plastic zone and the elastic zone, a boundary which is also changing as the axial load increases. The solution is derived by replacing the discrete steel ties with an equivalent tube of thickness $t_{eq}$ and by analyzing the concrete cylinder, which is uniformly confined by the equivalent tube. The equivalency criterion initiates from a theoretical analysis of the problem in its elastic range where further finite element analysis shows that this criterion is valid also for the plastic range of the cylinder material. According to the proposed model, the efficiency of the lateral reinforcement can be evaluated by the equivalent thickness $t_{eq}$. Comparison with published test results of confined reinforced concrete stress-strain curves shows good agreement between the test and the analytical results.

  • The uniformity of temperature on a wafer is one of the most important parameters to control the RTP (Rapid Thermal Process) with proper input signals. Since it is impossible to achieve the uniformity of temperature without exact estimation of temperature at all points on the wafer, the difficulty of understanding internal dynamics and structural complexities of the RTP is a primary obstacle to accurately measure the distributed temperatures on the wafer. Furthermore, it is also hard to accomplish desirable estimation because only few pyrometers have been commonly available in the general equipments. In the paper, a thermal model based on the chamber geometry of the AST SHS200 RTP system is developed to effectively control the thermal uniformity on the wafer. First of all, the estimation method of one-point measurement is developed, which is properly extended to the case of multi-point measurements. This thermal model is validated through certain simulation and experiments. The work can be usefully contributed to building a run-by-run or a real-time controls of the RTP.
