This paper presents critical buckling loads of laminated composites under cylindrical bending. In-plane displacements are assumed to vary exponentially through plate thickness. The accuracy of this theory is examined for symmetric/antisymmetric cross-ply, angle-ply and unsymmetric laminates under cylindrical bending. Analytical solutions are provided to investigate the effect of transverse shear deformation on critical buckling loads of the laminated plates, and the results are compared with those obtained from the first-order shear deformation plate theory and the classical laminated plate theory.
This work aims to present a solution for the buckling behavior of perforated nano/microbeams with deformable boundary conditions using nonlocal strain gradient theory (NLSGT). For the first time, a solution that can provide buckling loads based on the non-local and strain gradient effects of perforated nanostructures on an elastic foundation, while taking into account both deformable and rigid boundary conditions. Stokes' transformation and Fourier series are used to realize this aim and determine the buckling loads under various boundary conditions. We employ the NLSGT to account for size-dependent effects and utilize the Winkler model to formulate the elastic foundation. The buckling behavior of the perforated nano/microbeams restrained with lateral springs at both ends is studied for various parameters such as the number of holes, the length and filling ratio of the perforated beam, the internal length, the nonlocal parameter and the dimensionless foundation parameter. Our results indicate that the number of holes and filling ratio significantly affect the buckling response of perforated nano/microbeams. Increasing the filling ratio increases buckling loads, while increasing the number of holes decreases buckling loads. The effects of the non-local and internal length parameters on the buckling behavior of the perforated nano/microbeams are also discussed. These material length parameters have opposite effects on the variation of buckling loads. This study presents an effective eigenvalue solution based on Stokes' transformation and Fourier series of the restrained nano/microbeams under the effects of elastic medium, perforation parameters, deformable boundaries and nonlocal strain gradient elasticity for the first time.

In this paper, the experimental and numerical results of buckling loads for laminated composite plates are compared. Using boundary conditions of buckling test are all fixed supports. Experiments were conducted for plates with fiber angles $ heta$=30$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$,60$^{\circ}$ and aspect ratio a/b=0.8. Experimental results were obtained from load-deflection curves of buckling test. Numerical methods were presented to evaluate buckling loads, using structural analysis results from ANSYS.
Cylindrical shell structures buckle at service loads which are much lower than their associated theoretical buckling loads. The main source of this discrepancy is the presence of various imperfections which are created on the cylinder body during different processes as manufacturing, handling, assembling and machining. Many cylindrical shell structures are still designed against buckling based on the experimental data introduced by NASA SP-8007 as conservative lower bound curves. This study employed the numerical based Linear Buckling mode shape Imperfection (LBMI) method and modified it using a stochastic method to assess the effect of geometrical imperfections in more details on the buckling of cylindrical shells with and without the cutout. The comparison of results with those obtained from the numerical Simcple Perturbation Load Imperfection (SPLI) method for cylinders with and without cutout revealed a good correlation. The effect of two parameters of size and number of cutouts on the buckling load was investigated using the linear buckling and Modified LBMI methods. Results confirmed that in cylinders with a small cutout inserting geometrical imperfection using either SPLI or modified LBMI methods significantly reduced the value of the predicted buckling load. However, in cylinders with larger cutouts, the effect of the cutout is dominant, thus considering geometrical imperfection had a minor effect on the buckling loads predicted by both SPLI and modified LBMI methods. Furthermore, the modified LBMI method was employed to evaluate the combination effect of cutout numbers and size on the buckling load. It is shown that in small cutouts, an increasing in the cutout size up to a certain value resulted in a remarkable reduction of the buckling load, and beyond that limit, the buckling loads were constant against D/R ratios. In addition, the cutout number shows a more significant effect on decreasing the buckling load at small D/R ratios than large D/R ratios.

This paper deals with buckling loads of the column with the constant surface area. The shape function of variable column depth is chosen as the linear taper. The ordinary differential equation governing buckled shapes of the column is derived based on the dynamic equilibrium equation of such column subjected to an axial load. Three kinds of end constraint of hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped and clamped-clamped are considered in numerical examples. Effects of the column parameters on buckling loads are extensively discussed. Especially, section ratios of the strongest column are calculated, under which the maximum, i.e. strongest, buckling loads are achieved. Also the buckled shapes are obtained for searching the nodal points where the inner transverse supports are simply installed to increase the buckling loads.
Stability analysis of three-layered piezoelectric doubly curved nano shell with accounting size dependency is performed in this paper based on first order shear deformation theory and curvilinear coordinate system relations. The elastic core is integrated with sensor and actuator layers subjected to applied electric potentials. The principle of virtual work is employed for derivation of governing equations of stability. The critical electrical and mechanical buckling loads are evaluated in terms of important parameters of the problem such as size-dependent parameter, two principle angle of doubly curved shell and two parameters of Pasternak's foundation. One can conclude that mechanical buckling loads are decreased with increase of nonlocal parameter while the electrical buckling loads are increased.

Practical stability design method of main members of cable-stayed bridges is proposed and discussed through a design example. For this purpose, initial tensions of stay cables and axial forces of main members are firstly determined using initial shaping analysis of bridges under dead loads. And then the effective buckling length using system elastic/inelastic buckling analysis and bending moments considering $P-{\delta}-{\Delta}$ effect by second-order elastic analysis are calculated for main girder and pylon members subjected to both axial forces and moments, respectively. Particularly, load combinations of dead and live loads, in which maximum load effects due to live loads are obtained, are taken into account and effects of live loads on effective buckling lengths are investigated.
The present study investigates the influences of vehicle induced loads on the thermal buckling behavior of straight and curved continuous welded rail (CWR) tracks. Quasi-static loads model is assumed to determine the uplift region, which occurs due to the vertical track deflection induced by wheel loads of vehicle. The lateral loads of vehicle induced by weight, the speed, the superelevation and curvature of track, and other dynamic vehicle track interaction, are included in the ratio of lateral to vertical vehicle load. Parametric numerical analyses are perfomed to calculate the upper and lower critical buckling temperatures of CWR tracks, and the comparison between the results of this work and the previous results without vehicle is also included.
Checking the stability of anisotropic plates with free edges, it is impossible that buckling loads and modes are found via existing classical methods about various loads and boundary conditions. For solving this problems. finite difference method(FDM) is used to analyze the buckling behaviors for arbitrary boundary conditions. Using FDM, it is difficult to treat the fictitious points on free edges. So, this paper analyzes buckling behaviors of analytic models with one edge free and the other edges clamped and with opposite two edges free and other two edges clamped. The various buckling loads and mode characteristics through numerical results are given for buckling behaviors of anisotropic plates on free edges.
This paper focuses on the buckling capacity of a hybrid grid shell. The eigenvalue buckling, geometrical non-linear elastic buckling and elasto-plastic buckling analyses of the hybrid structure were carried out. Then the influences of the shape and scale of imperfections on the elasto-plastic buckling loads were discussed. Also, the effects of different structural parameters, such as the rise-to-span ratio, beam section, area and pre-stress of cables and boundary conditions, on the failure load were investigated. Based on the comparison between elastic and elasto-plastic buckling loads, the effect of material non-linearity on the stability of the hybrid barrel vault is found significant. Furthermore, the stability of a hybrid barrel vault is sensitive to the anti-symmetrical distribution of loads. It is also shown that the structures are highly imperfection sensitive which can greatly reduce their failure loads. The results also show that the support conditions pose significant effect on the elasto-plastic buckling load of a perfect hybrid structure.
