  • There nay be fierce debate over the nature of the medium that will herald the brave new world copper, fiber, wireless or satellite there is little doubt that future networks will be broadband in their capabilities. The Republic of Korea is a significant exception and leads the world, at present, in terms of number of subscribers with broadband access via ADSL.   • There are many researches to increase bandwidth of the microstrip patch antenna for wireless LAN. In spite of broad bandwidth, Bow-Tie microstrip patch antenna, broadband microstrip patch antenna, has disadvantages that are low gain and big size. In this paper, stacked Bow-Tie microstrip patch antenna for wireless LAN is designed in 5.725~5.825GHz band. This antenna has characteristics that are broadband bandwidth, high gain and small size compared with microstrip patch antenna. In simulated results, the return loss is -34.2dB at 5.78GHz and bandwidth is 11.345% for VSWR is 2:1 and 7.75% for VSWR is 1.5:1. In measured results, the return loss is -38-45dB at 5.78GHz and bandwidth is 13% for VSWR is 2:1 and 5.6% for VSWR is 1.5:1.

Loop Cancellation and Path Optimization of Path Extension Handover in a Wireless ATM LAN (무선 ATM LAN 환경에서 경로 확장 기법의 루프 제거 및 경로 최적화 알고리즘 연구)

  • There has been increasing interest in broadband services to mobile terminals. Wireless ATM will be used to support broadband services for future generation mobile service. We propose an algorithm for handover in wireless ATM LANs. We have studied how to treat the loop cancellation and optimization of path extension handover scheme, and present path optimization algorithms : polyangular loop cancellation and triangular loop cancellation. We express the location of MT(mobile terminal) by direction angle, and the direction angles can be converted into direction vectors. Using direction vectors, we can find the current optimal path of MT. The analysis and the experimental results show that the proposed scheme provides the better performance than that of anchor rerouting scheme in average handover delay, handover disruption delay, and buffer requirements.

  • In this paper, we design a Wibro / WiFi dual band microstrip antenna for wireless broadband communication. The proposed antenna is designed to have the characteristics of FR-4 (er = 4.3), size of $40[mm]{\times}40[mm]$, and usable in 2.31[GHz] and 5.8[GHz] bands of Wibro / WiFi. The simulation is performed by CST Microwave Studio 2014 The simulation result shows that the gain is 2.308[dB] at 2.31[GHz] and 2.985[dB] at 5.8[GHz]. S-parameters were also found to be less than -10[dB] (WSWR2: 1) in the desired frequency band, and a small number of parameters and a compact antenna were designed. It is expected that many users will use the mobile communication antenna for accurate and fast communication for smooth wireless broadband communication.

  • Wibro(Wibro - Wireless Broadband Internet ) is a system that can accept effectively the IP-based Wireless data traffic with upward / downward asymmetric transfer characteristic by using a Wirelss broadband transfer technology in OFDMA/TDD (Orthogonal frequency Division Multiple Access/Time Division Duplex). Wibro service should support handover to maintain connection continuously in movement because the service is based on If system which is different from cellular system. Current Micro Mobility system and general Mobile If system has got a problem of delayed speed and lost packets during handover. IETF protocol has been proposed for minimizing this problem and its standardization is under process, mainly focused on Mip4, Mip6 and Mipshop WG. This article studies and analyzes an effective method of minimizing handover delay to improve the problem of WiBro system and its revitalization & outlook.

Congestion Control Scheme for Efficient Multimedia Transmission in Broadband Wireless Networks (광대역 무선 네트워크에서 효율적인 멀티미디어 전송을 위한 혼잡 제어 기법)

  • TCP does not ensure the bandwidth and delay bound required for multimedia streaming services in broadband wireless network environments. In this paper, we propose a new congestion control scheme for efficient multimedia transmission, called COLO TCP (Concave Increase Slow Start Logarithmic Increase Congestion Avoidance TCP). The COLO TCP prevents the burst packet loss by applying the concave increase algorithm in slow start phase. In the congestion avoidance phase, COLO TCP uses the logarithmic increase algorithm that quickly recovers congestion window after packet loss. To highly utilize network bandwidth and reduce packet loss ratio, COLO TCP uses additive increase algorithm and adaptive decrease algorithm. Through simulation results, we prove that our COLO TCP is more robust for random loss. It is also possible for efficient multimedia transmission.

MEDU-Net+: a novel improved U-Net based on multi-scale encoder-decoder for medical image segmentation

  • The unique U-shaped structure of U-Net network makes it achieve good performance in image segmentation. This network is a lightweight network with a small number of parameters for small image segmentation datasets. However, when the medical image to be segmented contains a lot of detailed information, the segmentation results cannot fully meet the actual requirements. In order to achieve higher accuracy of medical image segmentation, a novel improved U-Net network architecture called multi-scale encoder-decoder U-Net+ (MEDU-Net+) is proposed in this paper. We design the GoogLeNet for achieving more information at the encoder of the proposed MEDU-Net+, and present the multi-scale feature extraction for fusing semantic information of different scales in the encoder and decoder. Meanwhile, we also introduce the layer-by-layer skip connection to connect the information of each layer, so that there is no need to encode the last layer and return the information. The proposed MEDU-Net+ divides the unknown depth network into each part of deconvolution layer to replace the direct connection of the encoder and decoder in U-Net. In addition, a new combined loss function is proposed to extract more edge information by combining the advantages of the generalized dice and the focal loss functions. Finally, we validate our proposed MEDU-Net+ MEDU-Net+ and other classic medical image segmentation networks on three medical image datasets. The experimental results show that our proposed MEDU-Net+ has prominent superior performance compared with other medical image segmentation networks.

QoS-Guaranteed Realtime Multimedia Service Provisioning on Broadband Convergence Network(BcN) with IEEE 802.11e Wireless LAN and Fast/Gigabit Ethernet

  • In broadband convergence network(BcN), heterogeneous broadband wired & wireless subnetworks and various terminal equipments will be interconnected. In order to provide end-to-end realtime multimedia services on such heterogeneous networking environment, as a result, two major problems should be resolved: i) Multimedia session establishment & negotiation that adjusts the differences in the capability of multimedia data processing at the end terminal nodes, ii) quality of service(QoS)-guaranteed connection establishment or resource reservation with connection admission control(CAC) in each heterogeneous subnetworks along the path. The session layer signaling(e.g., SIP/SDP) should be extended for QoS negotiation, and must be tightly cooperating with network layer signaling or resource reservation with CAC function. In this paper we propose a session and connection management architecture for the QoS-guaranteed realtime multimedia service provisioning on BcN, with Q-SIP/SDP, resource reservation protocol with traffic engineering extension, and CAC functions. The detailed interaction scenario and related algorithms for QoS-guaranteed realtime multimedia session, resource reservation and connection establishment are explained and analyzed. From the experimental implementation of the proposed scheme on a small scale BcN testbed, we verified that the proposed architecture is applicable for the realtime multimedia service provisioning. We analyze the network performance and QoS parameters in detail.

  • The home network is the technique to guarantee a safe, economical, socially integrated, and healthy life to the family and it provides domestic safety, instrument control, controllable energy and health monitoring by the connection of the home appliances using wired and wireless networks. A home control system has been developed for managing and controlling home appliances. This paper designs the broadband PLC home controller using broadband PLC technology which can save much cost at a network infrastructure using the existing power line at a home and design the USB home controller using USB technology which is low cost and has many goods with it. And the embedded home server manages those. The CDMA module provides mobile functions to the home control system in this paper. And we choose the OSGi specification which is compatible with other home middleware and can accept various communication techniques of home network
