  • This study used Omija extract as a natural congelation to compare and analyze soybean curd's physicochemical and sensory quality characteristics in order to improve functional benefits and taste of soybean curd. When Omija extract concentration increased, protein content went up considerably while crude fat and yield significantly decreased. In the pH change, the group with Omija extract were lower than control and the change was not much noticeable but slightly checked as the storage period was extended. The turbidity tended to increase as the storage period was longer. In the acidity change, the group with 0.5% Omija extract showed rapid increase on the 4th day after starting storage, and it can be interpreted that decomposition started at the moment. As the storage period was extended, brightness and yellowness remarkably decreased and redness considerably enhanced: higher concentration Omija extract worked to decreased brightness and to increase yellowness and redness. In accordance with the storage period, hardness, brittleness and gumminess increased and springness decreased, but there was no considerable change in cohesiveness: in accordance with the concentration, hardness, brittleness and gumminess significantly increased, but there was no considerable change in cohesiveness. In terms of sensory quality, the group with 1% of Omija extract showed the best appearance, flavor, taste and after swallowing results. The group with 1% Omija extract was the most preferred, $4.89{\pm}0.32$ in the overall preference. In conclusion, adding Omija extract can improve soybean curd's physicochemical and sensory quality characteristics. Moreover, the extracts can be expected to play an important role in encouraging Omija's value and widening its appliances to various food.

  • The vehicle electronic control system is being developed as the legal and social demand for ensuring driver's safety is rising. The various Driver Assistance Systems with various sensors such as radars, camera, and lasers are in practical use because of the falling price of hardware and the high performance of sensor and processer. In the preceding study of this research, the program was developed to recognize the experiment vehicle's driving lane and the cars nearby or approaching the experiment vehicle throughout the images taken by CCD camera. In addition, the 'dangerous driving analysis program' which is Vision System basis was developed to analyze the cause and consequence of dangerous driving. However, the Vision system developed in the previous studyhad poor recognition rate of lane and vehicles at the time of passing a tunnel, sunrise, or sunset. Therefore, through mounting the brightness response algorithm to the Vision System, the present study is aimed to analyze the causes of driver's dangerous driving clearly by improving the recognition rate of lane and vehicle, regardless of when and where it is.

  • As ecological design elements, daylighting can be applied to provide adequate illumination on visual tasks to create an attractive visual environment and to save electrical energy. Daylighting control systems reject direct sunlight and penetrate it onto the ceiling or to deep into the room. This study aims to evaluate the luminance environment of sloped light guide with automated venetian blind systems according to sun angle changes. For evaluation, a mock-up model was used and the south facing side-window mounted between the clerestory window and the view window. To assess luminance performance, 3 view points of luminance were monitored. As results, the conventional and lightshelves show ideal luminance ratio between workplane and surroundings(3:1) and workplane and darkness area(2:1) due to total ratio of surroundings and darkness area has lower ratio than workplane. Compared to the lightshelves window, conventional window shows unrelieved effect in between the workplane and brightness area(1:5). It means that there has low deviation according to the required standards. Also, compared to the ratio between the brightness area and darkness area(2~6:1) conventional window with high deviation(10~20:1) provide discomfort glare due to the excessively strong contrast, while lightshelves window shows a required luminance ratio that provide a three-dimensional effect to occupants. Therefore, luminance distribution indicate that application of a lightshelves and blinds not only has a significantly positive effect but also offers higher luminance quality in a daylit room

  • Nowadays blending ratio of OMG (old magazine) in recovered paper used for manufacturing newspaper have been increased. When large amount of OMG is consumed in newsprint mill, brightness can be improved by inorganic pigments of coating layer. On the other hand decrease in yield of deinking process will be encountered because the pigments can be removed as reject of froth flotation process. Therefore selection of the optimal deinking agent is an important. Non-ionic surfactant have been used widely in newsprint mill. Non-ionic surfactant has amphoteric characteristics. Hydrophilic group is ethylene and propylene oxide that can induce hydrogen bonding with water molecules. In this regard, cloud point is an important parameter in order to control efficiency of deinking process because hydration of the hydrophobic group can be varied according to temperature of a system. In this study, deinking properties of ONP at high blending ratio of OMG was analyzed according to cloud points of non-ionic surfactants. $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$, brightness and effective residual ink concentration did not affected by the change of cloud points. Especially, flotation reject decreased significantly according to increase in cloud point of the non-ionic surfactant. Consequently, when a nonionic surfactant having a cloud point higher than the temperature of the system is used, properties of the deinked pulp can be maintained and yield of deinking process can be improved.

  • Emotional image quality optimization methodologies are investigated using technological image quality controls based on the eye tests of various image samples. The images are evaluated based on various contrast, lightness and saturation image quality metric tone curves. The order of importance to image quality enhancements is contrast, saturation and brightness. The slopes of emotional image qualities with respect to technical image quality metric changes are found to be composed of mathematical function modelling with nearly zero, intermediate and maximum slope regions in general, which can reflect well known log and saturated as well as conventional reverse U shape natures. Image quality improvements are analyzed not only with just single but also with multiple image quality metrics. To ease the unified image quality metric analysis and control, a new function is presented to utilize both the newly found and conventional emotional image quality behaviors. It is found that the overall image quality enhancement can be realized only in a few limited cases of multiple image quality metric controls. It is also found that the kinds of image quality enhancement methodologies are not strongly dependent on image contents (genre).

  • ICC profiles of output devices are necessary to solve the problem of color inconsistency between output devices. Therefore, output device manufacturers are offering ICC profiles that encode each model\`s color characteristics according to the specification decided in ICC (International Color Consortium). In this study, a program that can decode data of ICC profile was composed and evaluated the present condition of ICC profile files of domestic CRT monitor. As a result of comparing the ICC profiles of various model\ulcorner selling since 1999 from LG and Samsung companies, it was found that ICC profiles that are made at a similar time are the same regardless of model\`s specification and in some profiles, extraordinary data are saved. Accordingly, it can be said that current ICC profiles are made independently of the real monitor\`s color characteristics. This paper shows how color characteristics of a real monitor are affected by the control of brightness and color temperature, and proposes that the ICC profile has to be made from the data. measured in the optimum brightness state at each color temperature setting.

  • Low surface brightness (LSB) dwarf galaxies hold a key to resolve the small-scale problems of Lambda Cold Dark Matter (LCDM) paradigm such as missing satellites problem. Many recent studies found LSB dwarf galaxies around massive galaxies beyond Local Group up to 10Mpc. Motivated by this, we can increase the number of them by searching for LSB dwarf galaxies around galaxies up to 40Mpc. We use stacked deep (${\mu}_R{\sim}26.2mag\;arcsec^{-2}$) optical B, R-band images taken from Maidanak 1.5m telescope, one of facilities of Intensive Monitoring Survey of Nearby Galaxies (IMSNG) which monitored nearby galaxies in a day cadence from 2014 to 2016. Extended LSB sources in ambient regions of 16 nearby galaxies are selected using central surface brightness and total R magnitude criteria. After that, 24 LSB dwarf candidates are selected with visual inspection. To identify if the candidates are satellites or not, we are trying to compare the number density of LSB dwarf candidates around massive galaxies with those in Canada-France-Hawaii-Telescope Legacy Survey (CFHTLS) wide fields which have no dominant massive galaxies for control sample.

  • Fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs) are widely applied in the papermaking process to improve the CIE whiteness and the ISO brightness of papers. Large amounts of FWAs are used in the paper and paperboard industry, but no standard method exists for quantitative FWA analysis. Therefore, a new method is needed to analyze the presence of FWAs in paper and paperboard to control their additions and applications. In particular, FWA analysis must concentrate on those used for surface treatment of paper because their use in surface applications has increased recently. The purposes of this study were to measure the optical properties of papers surface-treated with oxidized starch containing FWAs and to deduce the regression equations for the quantitative analysis of FWAs used for surface treatments. Surface sizing was carried out to treat the surface of a base paper with T-FWA and H-FWA, and the pickup weight of the surface sized paper was measured to determine the real weight of FWAs transferred onto the paper surface. After surface sizing and preconditioning, the paper was evaluated for CIE whiteness, ISO brightness, fluorescence index, and reflectance at 440 nm using an Elrepho spectrophotometer. The CIE whiteness and the ISO brightness increased linearly as FWA content increased. The fluorescence index and the reflectance showed linear relationships with T-FWA and H-FWA. Linear regression equations were determined for the quantitative analysis of FWAs used for surface treatments.

  • In this study, a test was conducted to examine the effects of micro-needle therapy (MTS) and cosmetics containing spirulina on improving the skin tone, skin hydration, hyper-pigmentation, and fine lines of middle-aged women in their 40s and 50s and to propose an effective skin care method. The subjects were divided into a control group of eight people who used serum and cream mask that does not contain MTS and spirulina, and an experimental group who used serum and cream containing MTS and spirulina. The test was conducted with six 30-minute sessions for one week. The change in skin was measured over three times in the week of the test, after six weeks of the test, and two weeks after the test had finished. The result showed that after six weeks of the test, in the experimental group, the skin tone (color brightness, saturation brightness, skin brightness) and moisture showed a significant increase (p<0.05), while the number of small hyper-pigmentation and large hyper-pigmentation, as well as the length of crow's feet, melanin, erythema showed a significant reduction (p<0.05). No significant differences in fine lines under the eyes and length of crow's feet were observed. Two weeks after the test was finished, the experimental group showed a significant decrease in the length of crow's feet and melanin (p<0.05), and a significant increase in skin brightness and moisture (p<0.05). Even after the test was completed, the skin brightness, fine lines, melanin, and moisture improved continuously. In conclusion, skin care using MTS and cosmetics containing spirulina was more effective on improving the skin tone, hydration, hyper-pigmentation, and fine lines, than skin care without using them.
