This paper presents the case study of the CE by collaborative system and proposes a model of the CM group for the cable supported bridge. The cable supported bridges have a large project scale and need a high level of construction method. Therefore an advanced construction management system is required for successful completion of project. The construction management (CM) group which control design management, construction plan, subcontract, technical support and R&D is organized for the cable supported bridge project. The CM group established a collaborative system with construction site and drew an effective management of cost, process, quality, safety for each project. Furthermore, the CM group established the procedure of construction management based on the construction engineering (CE) items and performed the project management on the construction phase. Efficiency of cost reduction and site control is maximized by using a collaborative system.

Case studies for real bridge sites are performed to verify the applicability of the Bridge Scour Management System in the field. The case studies for 20 bridges in Gangneung District of National Road Management consist of site investigations including the boring tests, bridge scour analyses for the design floods, bearing capacity evaluation of the bridge foundation before and after scour, and comprehensive evaluation of the bridge scour maintenance. The bridge scour management system is verified as an useful tool which can evaluate bridge scour vulnerability quantitatively, and is also proposed as a reasonable system which can help establish effective measures and secure the safety of bridges during floods.
Concrete structures immersed in seawater are exposed to uniform chloride concentration. However, seashore concrete structures are subjected to various airborne chlorides concentration depending on areas, distance from seashore, orientation of structures and wind direction etc. Therefore, structures which is not coming into direct contact with seawater are greatly affected by salt attack and those cases have been reported. This study intends to investigate salt attack by airborne chlorides in terms of the distance from the seashore based on the measurements conducted at 73 spots and 27 areas during 3 years in the Eastern, Western and Southern coasts of South Korea. Results revealed large regional variations of the salinity in coastal regions along with significant seasonal effects caused by seasonal winds. Moreover, the salinity is seen to diminish as the distance from the seashore increases at a rate corresponding to the function $y=ax^{-b}$. These results will be helpful to do the durability design and management of seashore structures.

Recently the construction of bridges crossing navigable waterways is being promoted aiming at expanding social infrastructure and optimizing the overland routes through private investment. The construction, however, tends to focus on more the commercial requirements than the marine safety and efficient port management that it has a big risk not only to fail in ensuring the safety of ship traffic, but also to muse some severe conflicts between the parties concerned. These problems result from the lacking of standards about the design guidelines and discussing process considering the marine traffic safety when designing bridges. This research attempts to show the problems mused by bridge construction and suggest the standard discussing process through the survey and process analysis on Kwangyang Bridge and Incheon Bridge.

Internationally the load carrying capacity of bridges is decreasing due to material deterioration while at the same time increasing live loads mean that they are often exposed to stresses for which they were not designed. However there are limited resources available to ensure that these bridges are fit for purpose, meaning that new approaches to bridge maintenance are required that optimize both their service lives as well as maintenance costs. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) provide a tool that could support such an optimized maintenance program. In many situations WSNs have advantages over conventional wired monitoring systems in terms of installation time and cost. In order to evaluate the potential of these systems two WSNs were installed starting in July 2007 on the Humber Bridge and on a nearby approach bridge. As part of a corrosion prevention strategy, a relative humidity and temperature monitoring system was installed in the north anchorage chambers of the main suspension bridge where the main cables of the bridge are anchored into the foundation. This system allows the Bridgemaster to check whether the maximum relative humidity threshold, above which corrosion of the steel wires might occur, is not crossed. A second WSN which monitors aspects of deterioration on a reinforced concrete bridge located on the approach to the main suspension bridge was also installed. Though both systems have provided useful data to the owners, there are still challenges that must be overcome in terms of monitoring corrosion of steel, measuring live loading and data management before WSNs can become an effective tool for bridge managers.

In recent bridge design, studies on application of external prestress have actively been conducted. When prestress is applied to steel structures, the limit value of elastic strain with large load increases with reduction of steels, this method is economic in cost. According to study by Brodka (1969), steel plate bridges with prestress has an effect on cost saving of about 15% compared with structures without prestress. For that reason, our country recently adopted this method in construction of temporary bridges and various engineering technologies have been developed which made stress correction, droop correction and long-span construction possible with relatively small cross sections. This study verifies the method of application of prestress in temporary steel structures, the influence of high-strength tendon arrangement and the effects of composite structures of steel plates and high-strength tendons based on existing method.

Bridge structures are a socially important infrastructure and safety management of bridges during the public service period is important. Steel box girder bridges, which account for a large percentage of road bridges, have been designed by allowable stress design method(ASD) and load carrying capacity have been evaluated using ASD. Although design specification has recently been changed to limit state design method(LSD), in most cases, ASD is still used for load carrying capacity evaluation. In this study, the two design methods were used to compare the results of a load rating factor evaluation on a number of bridges, and we are going to find out how to convert the existing rating factor by ASD into rating factor by LSD. The results of this study are expected to can be used as a basis for determining the need for reinforcement and evaluating load carrying capacity by LSD in bridge maintenance.
While large-sized facilities (type I II) have been managed systematically after the establishment of the Special Law for Safety Management on Facility, the management of small-sized facilities is relatively poor. The small-sized facilities have been managed by The Basic Law for Disaster and Safety Management, however, it is hard to manage them systematically as related standards are not established. Therefore, this study proposed the management plans for including the facilities such as some road tunnels and utility tunnels, which have the definite manager and a high possibility to harm the public, into type I and II facilities. In addition, it proposed the reinforcement plans of safety management for small-sized and vulnerable facilities such as breast wall and cut slopes, traditional markets and pedestrian bridges, which are fundamental facilities closely related to people's life, although a budget and a man-power are not enough.
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has been attracting numerous research efforts around the world because it targets at monitoring structural conditions and performance to prevent catastrophic failure, and to provide quantitative data for engineers and infrastructure owners to design a reliable and economical asset management strategy. In the past decade, with supports from Australian Research Council (ARC), Cooperative Research Center for Infrastructure and Engineering Asset Management (CIEAM), CSIRO and industry partners, intensive research works have been conducted in the School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering, University of Western Australia and Centre for Infrastructural Monitoring and Protection, Curtin University on various techniques of SHM. The researches include the development of hardware, software and various algorithms, such as various signal processing techniques for operational modal analysis, modal analysis toolbox, non-model based methods for assessing the shear connection in composite bridges and identifying the free spanning and supports conditions of pipelines, vibration based structural damage identification and model updating approaches considering uncertainty and noise effects, structural identification under moving loads, guided wave propagation technique for detecting debonding damage, and relative displacement sensors for SHM in composite and steel truss bridges. This paper aims at summarizing and reviewing the recent research advances on SHM of civil infrastructure in Western Australia.

In this paper, A calculating cost method of maintenance and repair for bridge which is built up by new construction technique named Up-Down Precast Concrete(UDPSC). After 2000, 109 Bridges which are using UDPSC technique have been built up, 37 bridges's construction work are processing, and 194 designs are presented for construction. Because this technology has developed recently, there are few field data for analyzing the maintenance and repair cost. Therefore, the maintenance and repair cost is computed using Construction and Transportation Ministry's guide line for computation and former research's data.
