Social Media Advertising Effectiveness: A Conceptual Framework and Empirical Validation

  • In the era of Web 2.0, social media advertising can simultaneously stimulate consumers' brand purchase intention and brand information sharing intention. Product sales and brand information diffusion are equally important for a company that conducts advertising. This study investigates how features of brand content influence social media advertising effectiveness by integrating the stimulus-organism-response model and classic advertising effectiveness models. An analysis of 267 survey questionnaires shows that brand content-related cues, including perceived uniqueness, perceived vividness, and perceived interactivity have significant effects on consumers' affective and cognitive involvement, which then affect their attitude toward brand content. As a result, the consumers' attitude toward the brand and their brand purchase intention, as well as their brand content sharing intention, are positively affected by attitude toward brand content. This study contributes to a better understanding of how social advertising works, which suggests that managers should effectively use social media to conduct advertising.

Social Media Marketing and Brand Loyalty: The Role of Brand Trust

  • This study examines the relationship between social media marketing and brand loyalty through brand trust. Respondents were drawn from customers of McDonald's, Malang City, East Java Province, Indonesia. For this study, 130 questionnaires were distributed and data were analyzed using the Structure Equation Model (SEM) version 22 of the AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structure) application. The results showed that social media marketing had an impact on increasing McDonald's brand trust and brand loyalty. Brand trust influences brand loyalty and brand trust can mediate the influence of social media marketing on McDonald's brand loyalty. The findings prove that brand trust can mediate the effect of social media marketing on customer loyalty to McDonald's brand. These results can be explained by the fact that marketing strategies through social media marketing, such as making it easy for customers to get information related to McDonald's on social media, can contribute to customer trust and that trust is formed because McDonald's always pays attention to the quality of the products offered. Brand trust can mediate the influence of social media marketing on customer loyalty to McDonald's brand. This means that information related to McDonald's on social media is proportional to the quality of the product offered.

  • The trend that an apartment is regarded as not only a substantial property called 'residence' but also 'means of self-expression' to consumers is increasing in the present housing marketing, and thus, the apartment brand image is settling down as an important field of marketing management. Therefore, the present study aimed to verify difference of brand attitude according to consentaneity between an image of a housing brand and self-image of consumers to propose one kind of direction of strategies for formation of a differentiated brand image. As a result of a research, the trend that consumers show more positive attitude on a brand apartment having a brand image closer to an ideal self-image was analyzed to exist even if it is weak, so it was confirmed that the consentaneity between a brand image and a self-image of housing products can become a variable having some influence on brand attitude. The survey method understood a brand image, a self-image and brand attitude by using a Likert's 5-point scale on apartment brands of upper three companies according to a study result of a national brand competitiveness index(NBCI) and understood self-consentaneity by using a distance measurement model of self-consentaneity of Sirgy(1982). The questionnaire for the present research was carried out by surveying students of D university and the PASW program was used for statistical data analysis.

SNS에 기반한 가상 브랜드 커뮤니티의 아이덴티티가 브랜드 충성도에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Impact of the SNS-Based Virtual Brand Community Identity on Brand Loyalty)

  • Customers who show high level of brand loyalty are one of the most important corporate assets. Accordingly, customers' brand loyalty has been addressed as a critical issue for the business success. In today's business environment where business channels to customers have expanded and diversified continuously, especially the use of social network services (SNSs) have drawn a lot of attention as an effective channel to promote customers' brand loyalty. This study, thus, analyzes the impact of the virtual brand community identity on customers' brand loyalty, focusing on the role of the sense of communities as mediators. The analysis was conducted by using the data collected from 239 users of Chinese virtual brand communities. The results show that both virtual brand community identity and the sense of communities significantly influence on customers' brand loyalty. Furthermore, the results reveal that both of the community belongingness and community trust composing the sense of community partially mediate virtual brand community and brand loyalty as hypothesized. Based on the results, the strategic implications are suggested and discussed, focusing on improving the customers' brand loyalty in the context of SNSs. Our findings and discussions can help companies develop their customer strategies for utilizing the virtual communities to strengthen customers' brand loyalty.

Destination Brand Equity: A Perspective of Generation Z on A World Heritage Site in Indonesia

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among the components of brand equity and to examine the effects of these components on the overall customer-based brand equity from the perspective of the Generation Z. This study is applied in the case of Borobudur World Heritage Destination, which is in Indonesia. A survey questionnaire has been collected through purposive sampling from 167 Generation Z who have visited Borobudur World Heritage Destination. The research hypotheses were supported by the empirical test using a Structural Equation Model with AMOS. The result concludes that destination brand awareness has significant, positive effects on destination brand image and perception of destination quality; destination brand image has positive influences on perception of destination quality and destination brand loyalty; perception of destination quality has significant, positive impacts on destination brand loyalty. Except for destination brand image and destination brand awareness, the perception of destination quality and destination brand loyalty have positive and direct impacts on overall destination brand equity. In sum, overall customer-based brand equity of a world heritage destination in the context of a developing economy is directly influenced by only two components of brand equity, namely, the perception of destination quality and destination brand loyalty.

  • 본 연구는 공정무역과 관련된 소비자의 자기결정성 심리욕구(자율성, 유능성, 관련성)와 공정무역제품과 관련된 브랜드 자산 간의 관계를 실증분석을 통하여 검증하고자 하였다. 기존 공정무역과 관련된 소비자 반응의 선행연구들과 차별적으로 보다 더 소비자의 내적 욕구 충족성에 기반 한 전략적 브랜드 관리로 연결시키고 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. 구체적으로 본 연구의 실증분석의 결과, 자기결정성 심리욕구와 브랜드 자산 간 관계는 소비자의 공정무역에 대한 태도를 중심으로 브랜드 자산이 과정적으로 인식되고 있음이 밝혀졌으며, 특히 유능성과 관련된 소비자의 욕구충족성은 전략적으로 중요한 구성개념임이 밝혀졌다. 본 연구의 연구결과를 토대로 향후 공정무역제품과 관련된 브랜드 자산의 전략적 관리에 중요한 시사점을 제공해 줄 것으로 기대된다.

  • 경쟁시장은 하나의 제품 군 내에 많은 경쟁브랜드가 존재하고 있다. 따라서 브랜드 선호도가 높을수록 경쟁에서 살아 남을 가능성을 높일 수 있을 것이다. 이에, 브랜드 선호도를 향상시키기 위하여 다양한 방법을 사용하고 있다. 그 중 인터넷 광고를 통한 방법을 가장 많이 사용하고 있다. 본 연구는 인터넷을 통한 다양한 광고가 제공하는 제품 정보와 사용자가 이전의 생성된 제품에 대한 정보와의 일치할 경우, 광고 전과 후에 신뢰성에 미치는 영향을 검증하고자 한다. 또한, 광고를 통해 형성된 브랜드 선호도가 구매의도에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 알아보고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과, 인터넷 광고와 사용자의 정보 일치성이 높을 경우, 광고에 대한 기억성이 구매의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이와는 반대로 정보 일치성이 낮을 경우, 관심성이 구매의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 인터넷 광고의 신뢰성이 높을 경우 구매의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 브랜드의 선호도를 향상시키는 광고를 위하여 소비자가 원하는 정보의 제공과 함께 브랜드의 신뢰성을 강조하기 위한 다각적인 노력이 필요할 것이다.

국내 엔터테인먼트 기업의 CSR 활동, 리스크 관리, 프로듀싱 능력에 대한 소비자 평가가 통합 브랜드 자산 인식에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : SM, JYP, YG, 하이브를 중심으로 (A Study on the Consumer Evaluation of CSR Activities, Risk Management, and Producing Ability of Entertain Companies on the Perception of Integrated Brand Assets : Focusing on SM, JYP, YG, and HYBE)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국내 엔터테인먼트 기업의 CSR 활동, 리스크 관리, 프로듀싱 능력에 대한 소비자 평가가 통합 브랜드 자산 인식에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 살펴보는 것이다. 4년제 대학교에 재학 중인 대학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 총 423개의 데이터가 분석에 사용되었다. 연구결과, 첫째, 경제적 활동과 자선적 활동에 대한 소비자 평가가 통합 브랜드 자산 인식과 정적 인과관계를 나타냈다. 둘째, 국내 엔터테인먼트 기업에 대한 리스크 관리와 프로듀싱 능력 평가가 높을수록 통합 브랜드 자산 인식을 긍정적으로 하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 4개 기업은 공통적으로 프로듀싱 능력의 주효과가 유의미하게 나타났다. 또한 CSR 활동과 리스크 관리에 대한 평가 수준에 관계없이 프로듀싱 능력 평가가 높은 집단은 낮은 집단에 비해 통합 브랜드 자산 인식이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

우리나라 특1급 호텔의 지역별.브랜드별 서비스품질 차이 분석 (An Analysis on the Differences of Service Quality of Deluxe Hotels in Korea: Focusing on Region and Brand)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in the deluxe hotels'service quality in Korea according to the region and the brand. The subjects of this survey for the empirical analysis are limited to the customers of deluxe hotels in Korea: data(1,054 samples) are collected from 16 deluxe hotels among 27 of its kind in Seoul, Pusan, Cheju and Kyongju areas. The results are as follows. First, the hotel service quality between the hotels in Seoul and in provinces makes little difference. Second, the service quality in the Seoul, Pusan, Cheju and Kyongju areas shows significant difference. Third, there is also a significant difference on the service quality between domestic hotel brand and foreign-chained hotel brand.

쿠폰의 유효기간이 소비자의 구매 행태에 미치는 영향 : 시장에 3개 이상의 브랜드가 있는 상황 (Influence of Coupon Duration on Consumer's Behavior : Three or Wore Brands in the Market)

  • This research deals with the issues concerning how consumers change their purchase behavior if one of brands in the market prolongs its coupon duration while there are more than two brands. If they extend coupon duration of a brand, consumers increase Purchase of the brand with coupons. But they increase or reduce purchase of competing brands with coupons depending on the condition of the market. increase of purchase of the brand with prolonged coupons stems from reducing purchase of the consumer's most favorite brands with regular price and their less preferred brands with coupons. On the other hand, consumers who prefer the brand at in-between level tend to reduce purchase of competing brands with coupons under certain conditions. Therefore firms which do not have dominant market positions have strong incentive for strategic alliance in terms of coupon duration.
