  • A temperature-analysis program, named ${\ulcorner}TAMCON{\lrcorner}$, was developed to predict the temperature rise due to the heat of hydration in hardening concrete. Finite element method was employed to facilitate the temperature analysis for the structures with complex geometry and various boundary conditions. In order to test the validity of the program, the results obtained from TAMCON for the wall-t.ype structure and the mat foundation were compared with the numerical analysis anti experimental data reported previously. As a result, it was found that they were in good agreement. TAMCON may be useful for the temperature control to restrain thermal cracking and the construction management to design the reasonable curing method in mass concrete.

  • Box girder bridges are now widely used in bridge construction, and it is necessary to perform load rating regularly to evaluate the load capacity of box girder bridges. Load testing is a common measure for load rating. However, the bridge must be loaded by many trucks under different loading conditions, which is time-consuming and laborious. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a load rating method for box girder bridges based on rapid moving loads testing. The method includes three steps. First, the quasi-influence factors of the bridge are obtained by crossing the bridge with rapidly moving loads, and the structural modal parameters are simultaneously obtained from the dynamic data to supplement. Second, an objective function is constructed, consisting of the quasi-influence factors at several measurement points and structural modal parameters. The finite element model for load rating is then updated based on the Rosenbrock method. Third, on this basis, a load rating method is proposed using the updated model. The load rating method proposed in this paper can considerably reduce the time duration of traditional static load testing and effectively utilize the dynamic and static properties of box girder bridges to obtain an accurate finite element model. The load capacity obtained based on the updated model can avoid the inconsistency of the evaluation results for the different structural members using the adjustment factors specified in codes.

  • The traditional prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs have several drawbacks such as large deflection and potential local buckling. In this study, two methods were investigated to optimize and improve the prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs. The first method was to replace the concrete bottom slab with a steel plate and the second method was to support the concrete bottom slab on the steel flanges. The behavior of the prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs with either method was studied by experiments on three specimens. The test results showed that behavior of the optimized and upgraded prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs, including ultimate bearing capacity, flexural stiffness, and crack resistance, is greatly improved. In addition, the influence of different shear connectors, including perfobond leisten (PBL) and stud shear connectors, on the behavior of prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs was studied. The results showed that PBL shear connectors can greatly improve the ultimate bearing capacity, flexural stiffness and crack resistance property of the prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs. However, for the efficiency of prestressing introduced into the girder, the PBL shear connectors do not perform as well as the stud shear connectors.

  • The conformal mapping method (CMM) has been broadly exploited in the study of fluid flows over airfoils and other research areas, yet it's hard to find relevant research in bridge engineering. This paper explores the feasibility of CMM in streamlined box girder bridges. Firstly, the mapping function transforming a unit circle to the streamlined box girder was solved by CMM. Subsequently, the potential flow solution of aerostatic pressure on the streamlined box girder was obtained and was compared with numerical simulation results. Finally, the aerostatic pressure attained by CMM was utilized to estimate the aerostatic coefficient and flutter performance of the streamlined box girder. The results indicate that the solution of the aerostatic pressure by CMM on the windward side is satisfactory within a small angle of attack. Considering the windward aerostatic pressure and coefficient of correction, CMM can be employed to estimate the rate of change of the lift and moment coefficients with angle of attack and the influence of the geometric shape of the streamlined box girder on flutter performance.

  • In the recent years, power analysis attacks were widely investigated, and so various countermeasures have been proposed. In the case of block ciphers, masking methods that blind the intermediate values in the en/decryption computations are well-known among these countermeasures. But the cost of non-linear part is extremely high in the masking method of block cipher, and so the countermeasure for S-box must be efficiently constructed in the case of AES, ARIA and SEED. Existing countermeasures for S-box use the masked S-box table to require 256 bytes RAM corresponding to one S-box. But, the usage of the these countermeasures is not adequate in the lightweight security devices having the small size of RAM. In this paper, we propose the new countermeasure not using the masked S-box table to make up for this weak point. Also, the new countermeasure reduces time-complexity as well as the usage of RAM because this does not consume the time for generating masked S-box table.

  • To design steel box girder bridge, designers have taken the classical load distribution coefficient methods. Due to the rapidly developing computer technique, steel box girder bridge is simply modeled as grillage method for analyzing the girder, or as fully finite element method for more accurate and detailed analysis. Recently, cruciform space frame method is developed for modeling and analyzing it more simply and easily compared with finite element method. So, this study for the examination of upper methods' characteristics loaded unit moment load and analyzed the distortional deflection with shell element method and cruciform space frame method, and for three span three girder steel box bridge, loading DB-24 loads, analyzed it by upper methods and compared the results.

  • A new filled function method is presented in this paper to solve box-constrained nonlinear integer programming problems. It is shown that for a given non-global local minimizer, a better local minimizer can be obtained by local search starting from an improved initial point which is obtained by locally solving a box-constrained integer programming problem. Several illustrative numerical examples are reported to show the efficiency of the present method.

  • A new torsional analysis method for multiple cell box based on the Softened Truss Model Theory was developed. This softened truss model unifies shear and torsion to address the problem associated with a torque applied on a box. The model should be very useful for the analysis of a reinforced concrete box under torque, especially for the bridge superstructure with multiple cell box sections.

  • A novel combined method for locating box H/ACA small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) is described, together with a software tool. The method adopts both a probabilistic hidden Markov model (HMM) and a minimum free energy (MFE) rule, and filters possible candidate box H/ACA snoRNAs obtained from genomic DNA sequences. With our novel method 12 known box H/ACA snoRNAs, and one strong candidate were identified in 30 nucleolar protein genomic sequences.
