An Experimental Study on the Vibration of the PWR Fuel Rod Supported by the Side-sloted Plate Springs (측면 절개된 판형 스프링으로 지지된 경수로 연료봉 진동의 실험적 고찰)

  • One of the methods that are used to compare and verify the supporting performance of the spacer grids developed is the vibration characteristic test. A modal test in this paper is performed for a dummy rod 3,847 mm tall supported by eight New Doublet (ND) spacer grids. For the vibration test in air, nine accelerometers, one displacement sensor and one shaker are used for acquiring signals, and an I-DEAS TDAS software Is employed for analyzing the signals. Also, a finite element (FE) analysis is performed by a beam-spring simple model and a contact model simulating the contact phenomenon between the rod and the ND spring. And then, the results of the modal testing are compared with those of the FE analysis. The natural frequencies as well as the mode shapes obtained by the experiment have a greater similarity to the results by the contact model than the previous beam-spring model. In audition, for grasping whether or not the modal parameters are influenced by where shaking spot is, two kinds of tests are performed : one is for the shaker attached at the fourth span (center), the other is for the shaker at the fifth span that is one span nearer to the bottom of the rod. The latter shows higher MAC than the former Finally, the vibration displacements are measured in the range of 0.l12∼0.214 mm for the excitation force of 0.25∼0.75 N.

Simulation study of DAF flotation basin using CFD (전산유체해석기법을 이용한 용존공기부상공정의 유동해석)

  • Algae boom (Red tide) in south coastal area of Korea has been appeared several times during a decade. If algae boom appears in the desalination plant, media filter and UF filter are clogged quickly, and the plant should be shutdown. In general, Algae can be removed from water by flotation better than by sedimentation, because of the low density of algal cell. The purpose of this study conducts the CFD simulation of DAF flotation basin to apply the design of the dissolved air flotation with ball filter in the Test Bed for SWRO desalination plant. In this study, Eulerian-Eulerian multiphase model was applied to simulate the behavior of air bubbles and seawater. Density difference model and gravity were used. But de-sludge process and mass transfer between air bubbles and seawater were ignored. Main parameter is hydraulic loading rate which is varied from 20 m/hr to 27.5 m/hr. Geometry of flotation basin were changed to improve the DAF performance. According to the result of this study, the increase of hydraulic loading rate causes that the flow in the separation basin is widely affected and the concentration of air is increased. The flow pattern in the contact zone of flotation basin is greatly affected by the location of nozzle header. When the nozzle header was installed not the bottom of the contact zone but the above, the opportunity of contact between influent and recycle flow was increased.

  • The electrical properties of PZT thin film capacitor on TiN/W plug structure were investigated for high density ferroelectric memory devices. In order to enhance the ferroelectric properties of PZT capacitor, the process conditions of bottom electrodes were optimized. The fabricated PZT capacitor on TiN/W plug showed good remanent polarization, leakage current, and contact resistance of TiN/W plug, which were $33\;{\mu}C/cm^2$, $1.2{\times}10^{-6}\;A/cm^2$, and 5.3 ohm/contact, respectively.

  • Daegokcheon Stream in Daegok-ri, Ulju-gun, is an area with a developed valley and bedrock from Gajisan Provincial Park to the confluence of the Taehwa River across the Yangsan Fault. To measure the rock of Bangudae petroglyphs, the mineralogical weathering, joints, and scours or cavities at the bottom were confirmed. The measurement was carried out for a short period of time on the joint of the bedrock on which the Bangudae petroglyphs were engraved. Compared to the measured value obtained using existing optical fiber (Ch4 150 ㎛), a displacement value of 300 ㎛ was obtained using the non-attached, non-contact type of measuring instrument. In the future, it is inferred that this instrument could be used for various cultural properties if the HSV-value suitable for illuminance and various measurement experiences are stored.

  • In this study, we designed tooth profile of the fly-cutter for antisymmetric rotor which is used in screw compressor. In order to verify this profile, we manufactured three different pairs(J46, N46, P46) of antisymmetric rotor using fly-cutter. We got the following conclusions from this study. (1) We obtained better contact condition using 3pairs of rotor which are manufactured by the fly-cutter. (2) We could prevent the cutter interference near bottom point of the robe of screw rotor.

  • The interface heat transfer coefficient was measured for non-isothermal bulk forming of Ti-6Al-4V. FE analysis and experiments were conducted. Equipment consisting of AISI H13 die was instrumented with thermocouples located at sub-surface of the bottom die. Die temperature changes were investigated in related to the process variables such as reduction, lubricant and initial die temperature. The calibration approach based on heat conduction and FE analysis using an inverse algorithm were used to evaluate the interface heat transfer between graphite-lubricated die and glass-coated workpiece. The coefficients determined determined were affected mainly by the contact pressure. The validation of the coefficients was made by the comparison between experimental data and FE analysis results.

  • Zinc tin oxide (ZTO) based thin-film transistors (TFTs) were fabricated on glass substrate by using sol-gel method. The fabricated ZTO TFT had bottom gate and top contact structure with ZTO layer formed by spin coating from ZTO solution. The fabricated TFT showed field-effect mobility of about 2 - $4\;cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ with on/off current ratios >$10^7$, and threshold voltage of 2 V.

  • The effect of gate insulator surface treatment on electrical characteristics of bottom contact (BC) and suspended source/drain (SSD) organic thinfilm transistors (OTFTs) was studied. Triisopropylsilylethynyl pentacene was used as an active material and was printed by ink-jet printing method. In case of the BC OTFTs, threshold voltage was shifted from positive to near zero, and the fieldeffect mobility was increased when the gate insulator surface was treated with hexamethyldisilazane. However, in case of SSD OTFT, threshold voltage shift was not observed and the field-effect mobility was decreased.

Organic Integrated Circuits based on Pentacene TFTs

  • The integrated circuits such as inverters, ring oscillators, NAND and NOR gates, and rectifiers were fabricated on PEN substrate by using pentacene TFTs. The OTFTs used bottom contact structure and produced the average mobility of $0.26\;cm^2/V.sec$ and on/off current ratio of $10^5$. All circuits worked successfully like the simulation results. Especially, the rectifier was able to operate up to 1 MHz input signals, and ring oscillator exhibited oscillation frequency of 1MHz at-40V.

  • The patterning for the active layer of organic semiconductors is important to attain completely organic-based OTFTs(Organic Thin Film Transistors). We studied on possibility of the application of the conventional photolithography technique to pattern the organic active layer poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT). Patterned P3HT-based OTFTs with Bottom Contact(BC) configuration were fabricated using the conventional photolithography. We achieved field-effect mobilities in the saturation regime ${\sim}1.2{\times}10^{-3}cm^2/V{\cdot}s$, $I_{on/off}$ ratios ${\sim}10^5$ in the subtractive method, ${\sim}8{\times}10^{-4}cm^2/V{\cdot}s$, $I_{on/off}$ ratios ${\sim}10^3$ in the additive one.
