  • Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE) is used to model problems arising from various disciplinary including bio-pysics and colloid chemistry. Therefore, to predict a numerical solution of PBE is an important issue. The authors proposed deep learning based methods to solve PBE while the computational time to generate finite element method (FEM) solutions were bottlenecks of the algorithms. In this work, we shorten the generation time of FEM solutions in two directions. First, we experimentally find certain penalty parameter in a bilinear form. Second, we applied algebraic multigrids methods to the algebraic system so that condition number is bounded regardless of the meshsize. In conclusion, we have reduced computation times to solve algebraic systems for PBE. We expect that algebraic multigrids methods can be further employed in various disciplinary to generate deep learning samples.

  • This paper proposes a scalable hybrid P2P(peer-to-peer) cloud architecture for MMOGs(massively multiplayer online games) which includes load management schemes for each region. A game world is divided into several game regions and each game region is serviced by at least one peer(player) in this MMOG cloud environment. The load must be managed regionally to support smooth interactions among them even in the presence of a high concentration of players in a specific region. In the proposed architecture where an efficient and effective provisioning of resources is realized, it is suitable for players to interact with cloud servers effectively and it avoids bottlenecks of the current client-server MMOG architecture. This architecture also relieves a lot of computational power and network traffic, the load on the servers in the cloud by exploiting the capacity of the players. Simulation results show that the proposed hybrid P2P cloud architecture can reduce the considerable bandwidth at the server compared to the client server architecture as the available resources grow with the number of players in crowding or hotspots.

  • Imported ornamental fish should be quarantined because they can have dangerous diseases depending on their habitat. The quarantine requires a lot of time because quarantine officers collect various information on the imported ornamental fish. Inefficient quarantine processes reduce its work efficiency and accuracy. Also, long-time quarantine causes the death of environmentally sensitive ornamental fish and huge financial losses. To improve existing quarantine systems, information on ornamental fish was collected and structured, and a server was established to develop quarantine performance support software equipped with a text search engine. However, the long names of ornamental fish in general can cause many typos and time bottlenecks when we type search words for the target fish information. Therefore, we need a technique that can correct typos. Typical typo character calibration compares input text with all characters in a calibrated candidate text dictionary. However, this approach requires computational power proportional to the number of typos, resulting in slow processing time and low calibration accuracy performance. Therefore, to improve the calibration accuracy of characters, we propose a fusion system of simple Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models and character preprocessing methods that accelerate the process by minimizing the computation of the models. We also propose a typo character generation method used for training the ANN models. Simulation results show that the proposed typo character correction system is about 6 times faster than the conventional method and has 10% higher accuracy.

  • We fabricated and tested a novel hybrid superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) of three-phase $24kV_{rms}/630A_{rms}$ rating. In order to apply conventional resistive SFCLs into electric power systems, the urgent issues to be settled are as follows, such as initial installation price of SFCL, operation and maintenance cost due to ac loss of superconductor and the life of cryostat, and high voltage and high current problems. The ac loss and high cost of superconductor and cryostat system are main bottlenecks for real application. Furthermore in order to increase voltage and current ratings of SFCL, a lot of superconductor components should be connected in series and parallel which resulted in extreme high cost. In addition, the method to quench all components at the same instant needs very sophisticated skill and careful operation. Due to these problems, the practical applications of SFCL were pending. Therefore, in order to make practical SFCL, the price of SFCL should be lowered and should meet the demand of utilities. We designed novel hybrid SFCL which combines superconductor and conventional electric equipment including vacuum interrupter, power fuse and current limiting reactor. The main purpose of hybrid SFCL is to drastically reduce total usage of superconductor by adopting current commutation method by use of superconductor and high fast switch. Consequently, it was possible to get the satisfactory test results using this method, and further works for field tests are in the process.

  • Objective: The main goals of this investigation were to i) assess the population structure and genetic diversity and ii) determine the efficiency of the ongoing breeding program in a closed flock of Angora rabbits through pedigree analysis. Methods: The pedigree records of 6,145 animals, born between 1996 to 2020 at NTRS, ICAR-CSWRI, Garsa were analyzed using ENDOG version 4.8 software package. The genealogical information, genetic conservation index and parameters based on gene origin probabilities were estimated. Results: Analysis revealed that, 99.09% of the kits had both parents recorded in the whole dataset. The completeness levels for the whole pedigree were 99.12%, 97.12%, 90.66%, 82.49%, and 74.11% for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations, respectively, reflecting well-maintained pedigree records. The maximum inbreeding, average inbreeding and relatedness were 36.96%, 8.07%, and 15.82%, respectively. The mean maximum, mean equivalent and mean completed generations were 10.28, 7.91, and 5.51 with 0.85%, 1.19%, and 1.85% increase in inbreeding, respectively. The effective population size estimated from maximum, equivalent and complete generations were 58.50, 27.05, and 42.08, respectively. Only 1.51% of total mating was highly inbred. The effective population size computed via the individual increase in inbreeding was 42.83. The effective numbers of founders (fe), ancestors (fa), founder genomes (fg) and non-founder genomes (fng) were 18, 16, 6.22, and 9.50, respectively. The fe/fa ratio was 1.12, indicating occasional bottlenecks had occurred in the population. The six most influential ancestors explained 50% of genes contributed to the gene pool. The average generation interval was 1.51 years and was longer for the sire-offspring pathway. The population lost 8% genetic diversity over time, however, considerable genetic variability still existed in the closed Angora population. Conclusion: This study provides important and practical insights to manage and maintain the genetic variability within the individual flock and the entire population.

  • Software-Defined Networking (SDN), which has emerged to overcome the limitations of existing network architectures, makes routing management simpler and more efficient through a central controller. SR (Segment Routing) is a flexible and scalable way of doing source routing, and defines the information path of the network through a list of segments arranged in the packet header. In an SDN environment, the performance of each router is almost the same, but packets tend to be concentrated on routes that are frequently used depending on routing algorithms. Routers in that path have a relatively high frequency of failure and are more likely to become bottlenecks. In this paper, we propose a routing algorithm that allows the router, which is a resource in the network, to evenly process packets in the SDN with SR, so that the administrator can utilize the resources in the network without idle routers, and at the same time facilitate the management of the router.

  • There have been cases where the number of port workers has temporarily decreased due to COVID-19. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, a number of workers were quarantined, resulting in bottlenecks and waiting throughout the port operation process, increasing the congestion of terminals. As a result, problems such as a decrease in terminal operation efficiency occurred. However, it is understood that congestion centered on unloading equipment inside the terminal is not clearly calculated. Terminal congestion is thought to be a key factor directly related to the operational efficiency of the terminal. The congestion calculation method generally used in various fields measures congestion based on image-based data. Due to the nature of the loading and unloading equipment that moves according to the quantitative loading plan, it is unreasonable to apply the existing congestion calculation method. Therefore, this study presented a method of calculating terminal congestion using equipment waiting time and turnaround time, and verified the statistical significance of the congestion calculated using data from Terminal A of Busan Port.

  • The past earthquakes revealed the importance of the design of moment-resisting reinforced concrete framed structures with ductile behavior. Due to seismic activity, failures in framed structures are widespread in beam-column joints. Hence, the joints must be designed to possess sufficient strength and stiffness. This paper investigates the effects of fibers on the ductility of hybrid fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete (HFRSCC) when subjected to seismic actions; overcoming bottlenecks at the beam-column joints has been studied by adding low modulus sisal fiber and high modulus steel fiber. For this, the optimized dose of hooked end steel fiber content (1.5%) was kept constant, and the sisal fiber content was varied at the rate of 0.1%, up to 0.3%. The seismic performance parameters, such as load-displacement behavior, ductility, energy absorption capacity, stiffness degradation, and energy dissipation capacity, were studied. The ductility factor and the cumulative energy dissipation capacity of the hybrid fiber (steel fiber, 1.5% and sisal fiber, 0.2%) added beam-column joint specimen is 100% and 121% greater than the control specimen, respectively. And also the stiffness of the hybrid fiber reinforced specimen is 100% higher than the control specimen. Thus, the test results showed that adding hybrid fibers instead of mono fibers could significantly enhance the seismic performance parameters. Therefore, the hybrid fiber reinforced concrete with 1.5% steel and 0.2% sisal fiber can be effectively used to design structures in seismic-prone areas.

  • Steady-state visual evoked potential-based brain-computer interface (SSVEP-BCI) is one of the promising systems that can serve as an alternative input device due to its stable and fast performance. However, one of the major bottlenecks is that some individuals exhibit no or very low SSVEP responses to flickering stimulation, known as SSVEP illiteracy, resulting in low performance on SSVEP-BCIs. However, a lengthy duration is required to enhance multiple SSVEP responses using traditional single-frequency transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS). This research proposes a novel approach using dual-frequency tACS (df-tACS) to potentially enhance SSVEP by targeting the two frequencies with the lowest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for each participant. Seven participants (five males, average age: 24.42) were exposed to flickering checkerboard stimuli at six frequencies to determine the weakest SNR frequencies. These frequencies were then simultaneously stimulated using df-tACS for 20 minutes, and the experiment was repeated to evaluate changes in SSVEP responses. The results showed that df-tACS effectively enhances the SNR at each targeted frequency, suggesting it can selectively improve target frequency responses. The study supports df-tACS as a more efficient solution for SSVEP illiteracy, proposing further exploration into multi-frequency tACS that could stimulate more than two frequencies, thereby expanding the potential of SSVEP-BCIs.

  • Changes in methanogenic pathway at low temperature were studied by incubation experiments of sediment slurries from the littoral zone of Reservoir Paldang. Methane production rates in sediment slurries increased exponentially between $5^{\circ}C$and $45^{\circ}C$, reached a maximum rate of $7.4\;nmol\;{\cdot}\;g^{-1}\;{\cdot}\;h^{-1}$ at $45^{\circ}C$, and then declined to low rate. The shift of incubation temperature from high temperature ($30^{\circ}C$) to lowtemperature ($15^{\circ}C$) resulted in a decrease of methane production rate and of hydrogen accumulation rate, and the transient accumulation of acetate concentration. Chlorofarm inhibited perfectly methanogenesis and resulted in the accumulation of hydrogen and acetate as immediate precursors for metltane formation at both incubation temperatures of $15^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. In terms of equivalent methane which was calculated from the two intermediary metabolites accumulated in absence of methanogenesis, methane production from acetate was accounted for 14% of total methanogenesis at $30^{\circ}C$ and 75% at $15^{\circ}C$, respectively. When the high acetate concentrations above 19 mM were added to sediment slurries, methane production was inhibited at the low temperature ($15^{\circ}C$) . Our results demonstrate that contribution of acetate on methanogenesis increases at low temperature, but this pathway is inhibited by high concentration of acetate. Therefore acetate-utilizing methanogensis appears to be a key reaction at low temperature, and seems to be one of bottlenecks of the low temperature anaerobic degradation of organic matter in littoral sediments of the reservoir.
