In this study, an integrated boration and dilution (INBAD) model is proposed to predict the required makeup flowrate for RCS boron concentration change and to analyze the boron concentration behavior at each subsystem within the RCS including CVCS during boration and dilution operation. The INBAD model is constructed by integrating an existing neutronic code and a boration and dilution model. The boration and dilution model has been developed for our specific purpose using the one-cell model and multi-cell model. In addition, in order to assess the boron concentration behavior more realistically, two important features such as variable pressurizer heater output and optional makeup mode (either direct or indirect injection) are implemented in this model. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of this model, the boron concentration behavior analysis at each subsystem were performed for both direct and indirect injection mode using YGN 3 and 4 design data. Also, the effect of pressurizer heater output on the primary loop boron concentration was investigated. The results showed that the boron concentration changes can be predicted accurately at each subsystem during boration and dilution operation.

The determination of the boron isotopic ratio in solutions was achieved by means of a solid state track detector by using an alpha track. The neutron flux was optimized by using a Cd-foil to find the optimum conditions for counting the number of alpha tracks on the selected solid detector caused by the (n, $\alpha$) nuclear reaction of boron. The home-made multi-dot detector plate was utilized in this study to increase the reproducibility of the measurement by uniformly drying the boron solution within the marked circle area on the detector plate. The experimental results of this study verified that the $^{11}B/^{10}B $ isotopic ratio can be measured by observing the number of alpha tracks for different concentrated standard solutions with various isotopic compositions. This technique was applied to the determination of $^{10}B$ enrichment factor in a biological sample for a boron neutron capture therapy.

The propellants used in the gas generator of the ducted rocket are fuel-rich propellants, which contain an excessive amount of metal fuel and a small amount of oxidizing agent compared to general solid rocket propellants. In this paper, boron powder and MgAl(Magnesium-Aluminium alloy) were applied to produce fuel-rich propellants. The optimum formulation was determined by characterizing these metal fuel-rich propellants. Analysis of combustion products in the gas generators confirmed that the fuel-rich propellants containing fine boron powder itself instead of boron-bead could be useful in gas generators.

Boron(B) is a rare resource used for various purposes such as glass, semiconductor materials, gunpowder, rocket fuel, etc. However, Korea depends entirely on imports for boron. Considering the global boron reserves and its current production rate, boron will be depleted on earth in 50 years. Thus, a process including proper adsorbent materials recovering boron from seawater is demanded. This research proposed carbonized nanofibers prepared from electrospun PAN(polyacrylonitrile) mats as promising materials to adsorb boron in aqueous solution. First, the mechanism of boron adsorption on carbonized nanofibers was investigated by DFT(density functional method)-based molecular modeling and the calculated energetics demonstrated that the boron chemisorption on the nitrogen-doped graphene surface by a two-step dehydration is possible with viable activation energies. Then, the electrospun PAN mats were stabilized in air and then carbonized in an argon atmosphere before being immersed in the boric acid aqueous solution. Analytically, SEM(scanning electron microscopy) and Raman measurements were employed to confirm whether the electrospinning and carbonization of PAN mats proceeded successfully. Then, XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) peak analysis showed whether the intended nitrogen-doped carbon nanofiber surface was formed and boron was properly adsorbed on nanofibers. Those results demonstrated that the carbonized nanofibers prepared from electrospun PAN mats could be feasible adsorbents for boron recovery in seawater.

The main purpose of this paper is to develop the modified LTC code for accurate analysis of the boron concentration behavior of all components in the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS). This is achieved by adapting a multi-cell mad to the existing Long Term Cooling (LTC) code. To verify the modified LTC, the simulated results were compared with the actual test results measured during YGN 4 initial criticality test. It was shown that the simulated results of this modified LTC were in good agreement with the actual test results. Also, the boron concentration behavior analysis were performed using the modified LTC code for both direct and indirect dilution/boration nude using YGN 3,4 design data. This modified LTC code can provide a valuable information in predicting boron concentration behavior during power maneuvering such as startup operation, shutdown operation and load follow operation. It is expected that the modified LTC can be applied to both on-line and off-line mode using Plant Computer System(PCS).

The effects of boron additions in steels have long been recognized as very important, mainly with respect to hardnability of heat treatable steels. we investigated the effect of the microstructure and mechanical properties with cooling condition after heat treatment of the boron-treated(${\fallingdotseq}8{\sim}18ppm$) low carbon(${\fallingdotseq}0.2%C$) low alloy steel. The specimens were austenitised for 10 min at $910^{\circ}C$, cooled for the various periods of time from 10 sec to 30 sec or with water after forming for 15 sec. After cooling, mechanical properties were measured by tensile test and hardness test. For analysis of microstructure, Optical were carried out.
The hot stamping process is an innovative forming method that could prevent the cracking of high strength steel sheets. The formability test of boron steel sheet using forming limit diagrams at elevated temperature is very complicated and time consuming job. In this paper, an alternative test method to evaluate the formability of boron steel in hot stamping has proposed. It measured the FLD0 instead of whole strain combinations of FLD with the tensile test machine and specially designed test rig. Test results shows that the proposed test method can simulate the plain strain condition fracture and can make the FLD of boron steel sheet at elevated temperature with less effort.

To control luminescence emission property, a novel series of strong fluorescent fluorin-boron complexes were synthesized in higher yield. The resulting structural analysis was completed. Small molecules with a built-in fluorine-boron core structural architecture has been attracted considered attention as the key emissive elements due to the their good properties such as bipolar charge transport and high photo efficiency. Thus, new type of fluorine-boron(F-B) complexes are designed and prepared. Changing the substituent position on fluorophore ring provided a deep understanding on the relationship between structure and optical properties.
In this paper, the critical buckling temperature of single-walled Boron Nitride nanotube (SWBNNT) is estimated using a new nonlocal first-order shear deformation beam theory. The present model is capable of capturing both small scale effect and transverse shear deformation effects of SWBNNT and is based on assumption that the inplane and transverse displacements consist of bending and shear components, in which the bending components do not contribute toward shear forces and, likewise, the shear components do not contribute toward bending moments. Results indicate the importance of the small scale effects in the thermal buckling analysis of Boron Nitride nanotube.

Boric acid concentrations of the refueling water storage tank (RWST) and the accumulators for Ulchin 1&2 (UCN 1&2) are increased to meet the post loss of coolant accident (post-LOCA) shutdown requirement for the extended fuel cycles from 12 months to 18 months. To maintain long term cooling (LTC) capability following a LOCA, the switchover tine is examined using BORON code to prevent the boron precipitation in the reactor core with the increased boron concentrations. The analysis results show that, at 8 hours after the initiation of LOCA. the emergency core noting system (ECCS) should be manually realigned to the simultaneous recirculation mode from the cold leg recirculation mode.
