This paper presents the effect of driving waveform for piezoelectric bend mode inkjet printhead with optimized mechanical design. Experimental and theoretical studies on the applied driving waveform versus jetting characteristics were performed. The inkjet head has been designed to maximize the droplet velocity, minimize voltage response of the actuator and optimize the firing frequency to eject ink droplet. The head design was carried out by using mechanical simulation. The printhead has been fabricated with Si(100) and SOI wafers by MEMS process and silicon direct bonding method. To investigate how performance of the piezoelectric ceramic actuator influences on droplet diameter and droplet velocity, the method of stroboscopy was used. Using the water based ink of viscosity of 11.8 cps and surface tension of 0.025N/m, it is possible to eject stable droplets through 64 nozzles average velocity of 4.05 m/s with standard deviation of 0.06 m/s and average diameter of $29.2\;{\mu}m$ with standard variation of $0.5\;{\mu}m$.

LTCC (Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic) technology is one of technologies which can realize SIP (System-In-a-Package). In this paper realization of gas sensor using LTCC technology was described. In the conventional gas sensor structure, wire bonding method is generally used as an interconnection method whereas in the LTCC sensor structure, via was used for the interconnection. As sensing materials, $SnO_2$ was adopted. The effect of frit glass portion on the adhesion of the sensing material to the LTCC substrate and the electrical conductivity of the sensing material were analyzed. AgPd, PdO, Pt was added to the sensing material as an additive for improving the gas sensitivity and electrical conductivity and the effect of the amount of additives in the sensing material on the electrical conductivity was investigated. The effect of the amount of frit glass in the termination on the sensor performance, especially mechanical integrity, was considered and the crack initiation and propagation in the boundary between the sensing material and the termination was studied.

$TaO_2$ thin films as gate dielectrics have been proposed to overcome the problems of tunneling current and degradation mobility in achieving a thin equivalent oxide thickness. An extremely thin $SiO_2$ layer is used in order to separate the carrier in MOSFETchannel from the dielectric field fluctuation caused by phonons in the dielectric which decreases the carrier mobility. The electronic and optical properties influenced the device performance to a great extent. The atomic structure of amorphous and crystalline Tantalum oxide ($TaO_2$) gate dielectrics thin film on Si (100) were grown by utilizing atomic layer deposition method was examined using Ta-K edge x-ray absorption spectroscopy. By using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS) the electronic and optical properties was obtained. In this study, the band gap (3.400.1 eV) and the optical properties of $TaO_2$ thin films were obtained from the experimental inelastic scattering cross section of reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS) spectra. EXAFS spectra show that the ordered bonding of Ta-Ta for c-$TaO_2$ which is not for c-$TaO_2$ thin film. The optical properties' e.g., index refractive (n), extinction coefficient (k) and dielectric function ($\varepsilon$) were obtained from REELS spectra by using QUEELS-$\varepsilon$(k, $\omega$)-REELS software shows good agreement with other results. The energy-dependent behaviors of reflection, absorption or transparency in $TaO_2$ thin films also have been determined from the optical properties.

In several industrial fields, epoxy resin is widely used as an adhesive for co-curing and manufacturing various structures. Controlling the manufacturing process is required for ensuring robust bonding performance and the stability of the structures. A fiber optic sensor is suitable for the cure monitoring of epoxy resin owing to the thready shape of the sensor. In this paper, a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor was applied for the cure monitoring of epoxy resin. Based on the experimental results, it was demonstrated that the FBG sensor can monitor the status of epoxy resin curing by measuring the strain caused by volume shrinkage and considering the compensation of temperature. In addition, two types of epoxy resin were used for the cure-monitoring; moreover, when compared to each other, it was found that the two types of epoxy had different cure-processes in terms of the change of strain during the curing. Therefore, the study proved that the FBG sensor is very profitable for the cure-monitoring of epoxy resin.
Conductive adhesives have been investigated for use in microelectronics packaging as a lead-free solder substitute due to their advantages, such as low bonding temperature. However, high resistivity and poor mechanical behavior may be the limiting factors for the development of conductive adhesives. The metal fillers and the polymer resins provide electrical and mechanical interconnections between surface mount device components and a substrate. As metal fillers used in conductive adhesives, silver is the most commonly used due to its high conductivity and the stability. However the cost of conductive adhesives with silver fillers is much higher than usual lead-free solders and silver has poor electro-migration performance. So, copper can be a promising candidate for conductive filler metal due to its low resistivity and low cost, but oxidation causes this metal to lose its conductivity. In this study, electrically conductive adhesives (ECAs) using surface modified copper fillers were developed. Especially, in order to overcome the problem associated with the oxidation of copper, copper particles were coated with silver, and the silver-coated copper was tested as a filler metal. Especially the effect of silver coating on the electrical resistance just after curing and after aging was investigated. As a result, it was found that the electrical resistance of ECA with silver-coated copper filler was clearly lower and more stable than that of ECA with pure copper filler after curing process. And, during high temperature storage test, the degradation rate of electrical resistance for ECA with silver coated copper filler was quite slower than that for ECA with pure copper filler.

As a significant technology in the smartization era promoted by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the secondary battery industry has recently attracted significant attention. The demand for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which exhibit excellent performance, is considerably increasing in different industrial fields. During the manufacturing process of LIBs, it is necessary to join the cathode and anode sheets with thicknesses of several tens of micrometers to lead taps of the cathode and anode with thicknesses of several hundreds of micrometers. Ultrasonic welding exhibits excellent bonding when bonded with very thin plates, such as negative and positive electrodes of LIBs, and dissimilar and highly conductive materials. In addition, ultrasonic welding has a small heat-affected zone. In LIBs, Cu is mainly used as the negative electrode sheet, whereas Cu or Ni is used as the negative electrode tab. In this study, one or two electrode sheets (t0.025 mm Cu) were welded to one lead tab (t0.1 mm Cu). The welding energy and pressure were used as welding parameters to determine the welding strength of the interface between two or three welded materials. Finally, the effects of these welding parameters on the welding strength were investigated.
A nonlinear finite element model (FEM) using ATENA-3D software to simulate the axially compressive behavior of circular steel tube confined concrete (CSTCC) columns infilled with ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) was presented in this paper. Some modifications to the material type "CC3DNonlinCementitious2User" of UHPC without and with the incorporation of steel fibers (UHPFRC) in compression and tension were adopted in FEM. The predictions of utimate strength and axial load versus axial strain curves obtained from FEM were in a good agreement with the test results of eighteen tested columns. Based on the results of FEM, the load distribution on the steel tube and the concrete core was derived for each modeled column. Furthermore, the effect of bonding between the steel tube and the concrete core was clarified by the change of friction coefficient in the material type "CC3DInterface" in FEM. The numerical results revealed that the increase in the friction coefficient leads to a greater contribution from the steel tube, a decrease in the ultimate load and an increase in the magnitude of the loss of load capacity. By comparing the results of FEM with experimental results, the appropriate friction coefficient between the steel tube and the concrete core was defined as 0.3 to 0.6. In addition to the numerical evaluation, eighteen analytical models for confined concrete in the literature were used to predict the peak confined strength to assess their suitability. To cope with CSTCC stub and intermediate columns, the equations for estimating the lateral confining stress and the equations for considering the slenderness in the selected models were proposed. It was found that all selected models except for EC2 (2004) gave a very good prediction. Among them, the model of Bing et al. (2001) was the best predictor.
This study was conducted to improve the operating conditions of an adsorption tower filled with potassium impregnated activated carbon for high hydrogen sulfide capture capacity. Heat treatment modified the surface properties of activated carbon, and ultimately determined its adsorption capacity. The activated carbon doped with potassium showed 57 times more adsorption at room temperature than that of using the raw adsorbent. It is believed that uniform pore formation and strong bonding of the potassium on the surface of carbon contributed to the chemical and physical absorption of hydrogen sulfide. The SEM analysis on the surface structure of various commercial carbons showed that the modification of surface properties through the heat treatment generated the destruction of pore structures resulted in the decrease of the absorption performance. The pressure drop across the activated carbon bed was closely related with the grain size and shape. The optimum size of irregularly shaped activated carbon granules was 2~4 mesh indicating economical feasibility.
Micro-light emitting diode (micro-LED) displays offer numerous advantages such as high brightness, fast response, and low power consumption. Hence, they are spotlighted as the next-generation display. However, defective LEDs may be created due to non-uniform contact loads or LED alignment errors. Therefore, a repair process involving the replacement of defective LEDs with favorable ones is necessitated. The general repair process involves the removal of defective micro-LEDs, interconnection material transfer, as well as new micro-LED transfer and bonding. However, micro-LEDs are difficult to repair since their size decreases to a few tens of micron in width and less than 10 ㎛ in thickness. The conventional nozzle-type dispenser for fluxes and the conventional vacuum chuck for LEDs are not applicable to the micro-LED repair process. In this study, transfer conditions are determined using a micro stamp for repairing micro-LEDs. Results show that the aging time should be set to within 60 min, based on measuring the aging time of the flux. Additionally, the micro-LEDs are subjected to a compression test, and the result shows that they should be transferred under 18.4 MPa. Finally, the I-V curves of micro-LEDs processed by the laser and hot plate reflows are measured to compare the electrical properties of the micro-LEDs based on the reflow methods. It was confirmed that the micro-LEDs processed by the laser reflow show similar electrical performance with that processed by the hot plate reflow. The results can provide guidance for the repair of micro-LEDs using micro stamps.

Recently, semiconductor devices have been used in many fields owing to various applications of mobile electronics, wearable and flexible devices and substrates. During the semiconductor chip bonding process, the mismatch of coefficient of therm al expansion (CTE) between the substrate and the solder, and the excessive heat applied to the entire substrate and components affect the performance and reliability of the device. These problems can cause warpage and deterioration of long-term reliability of the electronic packages. In order to improve these issues, many studies on low-melting temperature solders, which is capable of performing a low-temperature process, have been actively conducted. Among the various low-melting temperature solders, such as Sn-Bi and Sn-In, Sn-58Bi solder is attracting attention as a promising low-temperature solder because of its advantages such as high yield strength, moderate mechanical property, and low cost. However, due to the high brittleness of Bi, improvement of the Sn-Bi solder is needed. In this review paper, recent research trends to improve the mechanical properties of Sn-Bi solder by adding trace elements or particles were introduced and compared.
