  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how children use the PAIR strategy for their audiences in the writing on the screen and how the comments play a role to communicate between an author and audiences. In order to perform this research, 7 elementary school students(4th-6th grade) participated in the literary education program designed to promote to write on the screen. As a result, 42 body texts(635 sentences) and 424 comments of children's writing on the screen were collected and analyzed according to the PAIR strategies and performance behaviour. The findings are as follows: first, 'attracting' is used the most among PAIR strategies and second, the most frequent performance behavior of comment is 'expression'. These findings indicate that children's writing strategy considering audiences tends to be emotionally appealing and performance behavior of comment is likely to focus on affective expression.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of aesthetic characteristics and their expression methods in the goth style expressed with the sensibility of an illustrator, using the work of Toon Hertz as an example. As a research method for this purpose, previous studies and books were used to examine the components of fashion illustration, the concept and aesthetic characteristics of goth style, and the world of Toon Hertz's work. In the qualitative studies, Toon Hertz's works were collected and the characteristics of each component were analyzed. As a result of analyzing the aesthetic characteristics, Distortion appeared as the main element of the human body, and the human body was distorted through the method of combining the human body with animals, plants, and other objects. History was mainly expressed through fashion elements. Victorian clothing was predominant, the color was mainly black, and it was characterized by decorations, such as fancy laces, corsets, and shirrings. The screen layout and the object components appeared as the main components of mystery. Sensuality was a major component of the human body, and it emphasized decadent and sensual images of a woman sitting with both legs apart or placing her hands on her legs or chest. Fear was the main component of the human body, and strangeness and fear were created by omitting or removing parts of the body, such as women's arms, legs, hands, or eyes.

  • The present study was conducted to develop a Multi-dimensional Body Image Scale for Malaysian female adolescents. Data were collected among 328 female adolescents from a secondary school in Kuantan district, state of Pahang, Malaysia by using a self-administered questionnaire and anthropometric measurements. The self-administered questionnaire comprised multiple measures of body image, Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26; Gamer & Garfinkel, 1979) and Rosenberg Self-esteem Inventory (Rosenberg, 1965). The 152 items from selected multiple measures of body image were examined through factor analysis and for internal consistency. Correlations between Multi-dimensional Body Image Scale and body mass index (BMI), risk of eating disorders and self-esteem were assessed for construct validity. A seven factor model of a 62-item Multi-dimensional Body Image Scale for Malaysian female adolescents with construct validity and good internal consistency was developed. The scale encompasses 1) preoccupation with thinness and dieting behavior, 2) appearance and body satisfaction, 3) body importance, 4) muscle increasing behavior, 5) extreme dieting behavior, 6) appearance importance, and 7) perception of size and shape dimensions. Besides, a multidimensional body image composite score was proposed to screen negative body image risk in female adolescents. The result found body image was correlated with BMI, risk of eating disorders and self-esteem in female adolescents. In short, the present study supports a multi-dimensional concept for body image and provides a new insight into its multi-dimensionality in Malaysian female adolescents with preliminary validity and reliability of the scale. The Multi-dimensional Body Image Scale can be used to identify female adolescents who are potentially at risk of developing body image disturbance through future intervention programs.

  • This article attempted to apply the methodology of film acting as a performance oriented towards socio-cultural meaning to Min-sik Choi's acting. Specifically, the relationship between the body, the face, the audio, the direction and the attitude toward film technology mentioned in the interview dictation of actor Choi Min-sik was analyzed. In conclusion, Min-sik Choi's acting cannot be defined only by method acting, but implies or integrates the typical or avant-garde acting theories such as Stanislavsky, Strasberg, Mayerhold, Brecht and Grotovski. Above all, it is the presentation that expresses the flow of life through movement suggested by S. Kracauer. The feeling of compassion that Choi Min-sik himself emphasizes is in contact with the essence of the film that reproduces the flow of life, and it expands to an intended screen performance with a certain purpose. The screen performance that can be compressed with compassion and the flow of life is expressed by Min-sik Choi's various personas. His persona, transcending good and evil, reflects the present of Korean society.

  • Objective: Growth-related traits are important economic traits in the swine industry. However, the genetic mechanism of growth-related traits is little known. The aim of this study was to screen the candidate genes and molecular markers associated with body dimension and body weight traits in pigs. Methods: A genome-wide association study (GWAS) on body dimension and body weight traits was performed in a White $Duroc{\times}Erhualian$ $F_2$ intercross by the illumina PorcineSNP60K Beadchip. A mixed linear model was used to assess the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and the phenotypes. Results: In total, 611 and 79 SNPs were identified significantly associated with body dimension traits and body weight respectively. All SNPs but 62 were located into 23 genomic regions (quantitative trait loci, QTLs) on 14 autosomal and X chromosomes in Sus scrofa Build 10.2 assembly. Out of the 23 QTLs with the suggestive significance level ($5{\times}10^{-4}$), three QTLs exceeded the genome-wide significance threshold ($1.15{\times}10^{-6}$). Except the one on Sus scrofa chromosome (SSC) 7 which was reported previously all the QTLs are novel. In addition, we identified 5 promising candidate genes, including cell division cycle 7 for abdominal circumference, pleiomorphic adenoma gene 1 and neuropeptides B/W receptor 1 for both body weight and cannon bone circumference on SSC4, phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase 1, and bone morphogenetic protein 7 for hip circumference on SSC17. Conclusion: The results have not only demonstrated a number of potential genes/loci associated with the growth-related traits in pigs, but also laid a foundation for studying the genes' role and further identifying causative variants underlying these loci.

  • We investigated the prevalence of eating disorder risk group and its relationship with Physique status and eating behavior among high school students in Daejeon. In May - June 2002, 350 students were sampled from 6 high schools in Daejeon by multi-stage cluster sampling and assessed with self-completing questionnaires. We used the Korean version of Eating Attitude test(EAT-26) to screen eating disorder risk group. and other instruments to screen physique status and eating behavior. The response rate was 91%(total 320) and numbers of female students were 167(52.2%) and male students were 153(47.8%). Average age was 16.0${\pm}$0.35 years, and average body-mass index(BMI) and PIBW(Percent Ideal Body Weight) were 20.9${\pm}$3.3 Kg/m2 and 102${\pm}$4.2% in male students, 20.2${\pm}$3.7 Kg/m2 and 98${\pm}$7.2% in female students(p<0.0001). Over 50% of the subjects were dissatisfied with their body shape; the degree of dissatisfaction with body shape was higher in those who believed themselves to be fat. Mean score of EAT-26 was higher in female students (10.78${\pm}$7.36) than male students(6.07${\pm}$4.39)(p<0.0001). The prevalence of high risk eating disorder group was 2.6% in male students, 11.4% in female students(p<0.0001). Eating behavior was better in female students than male(p<0.0001). Eating behavior was significantly higher in eating disorder risk group in both sex. Therefore eating disorder symptomatology was highly prevalent among high school students in Daejeon. And this symptomatology has a more close relationship with physique status and eating behavior in female students.
