Denim is one of the most frequently used fabrics for blue jeans. After washing denim fabric frequently changes its size and color. Salespersons recommended that after purchasing blue jeans customers should dry clean them once before washing. The aim of this study was to investigate to what degree washing with a household washing machine and dry cleaning affected the dimensions and the color of denim fabric. The denim fabric shrank greatly after the first laundering in warp direction regardless of whether it had been dry-cleaned or not. However, it shrank little from the second to the tenth laundering and after each number of dry cleanings. The thickness of the denim changed in the same way as the shrinkage occurred when the number of launderings or dry-cleanings increased. Although the indigo came out of the denim into washing liquor, both of the $L^*$ values and the $b^*$ values of the laundered and the dry-cleaned denim fabrics were lower than those of the control fabric. Darkening of the fabric after washing attributed to the shrinkage in warp; specifically the deep-blue warp yarns more spaced on the fabric face and the back. The $L^*$ and $b^*$ values of the dry-cleaned fabric decreased less than those of the laundered. The value of $a^*$ increased much less than the other values. Staining of the white cotton fabric laundered with the denim fabrics became less as the number of launderings increased. The degree of staining from the dry-cleaned denim was much lower than that of the laundered fabric.

The purpose of this study is to examine, specifically, the external and internal characteristics of anti-fashion expression in the Korean student movement after the 1945 Liberation. The dress expressed in the student movement represented the purity of student and characterized resistance, and this character expressed strongly in 80s, faded from middle of 90s. Until the 60s, the student movement was not characterized by, so activist students wore dress and suits. It symbolized students as an elite group of society. They added on head-bands to express resistance. In the 70s, activist students wore school uniforms, school military training wear, blue jeans and loose shirts in demonstrations. They tried to express re-bellion against the government and the older gen-eration. In the 80s, the period was remarkably distingusihing by the economic growth at that time. Activist students wore T-shirts with Korean letters and popular paintings specially made, Korean costumes, wrapped in the Taggeuki (Korean national flag), and refused wear on jeans because of anti-Americanism. They also wore masks, muffled their faces, and got their heads shaved. These anti-fashions are very strong expressions for the national independence spirit, national traditional heitage, anti-foreign power and anti-American. In the early 90s, activist students wore reformed Korean costumes specially made group uniforms, after that they wore casual everyday clothes with caps. They tried to express remarkable resistance in the early 90s, but after the mid-90s expression of resistance weakened and faded, so there was no distinction between activist and non-activist. There are the reasons why the student movement changed after the peaceful transfer of political power.
The objective of this field research is to determine consumer's fashion sense and provide helpful information to manufacturers when planning designs and merchandizing strategies. This study's purpose was to observe what was being worn, colors and tones. The method of research was fixed point observation using digital photos. The subjects of the research were female college students, 18-22 years old. The T-shirt has become the representative item for casual and comfortable wear by the female college students. Pants and blue jeans were worn more often than skirts as a lower garment. This shows that the students think about their activities when choosing a lower garment. The majority of these students chose clothing that functioned well for their school activities. Among students that wore skirts about half wore a functional knee length while the other half wore a more fashionable mini-skirt. These students appear to care about both fashion and function. Blue was especially popular, with 70.4% of all lower garments being blue. This effect makes the body look thinner and may be one reason why blue is so popular. White is a popular color as an upper garment. White upper garments are easily matched with any color, while blue upper garments coordinate well with similarly colored blue lower garments. The distribution of upper garment color is significantly influenced by the seasons. Blue jean tones were many and varied, while upper garments were mostly weak tones and bright tones of pale, light and soft.
Denims were treated with neutral cellulase, acid cellulase, stone, and stone-neutral cellulase respectively at different cellulase concentrations varying treatment times in rotary washer. The effect of washing on denim was estimated by the changes in weight, color, back staining, tear strength, flex stiffness, and surface characteristics. Also the comparison of neutral cellulase, acid cellulase, stone, and stone-neutral cellulase washings was studied. Washing removes surface fibers and provides weight loss, color difference, back staining, and a decrease in tear strength and in flex stiffness. Stone-neutral cellulase washing and acid cellulase washing have a larger washing effect than neutral cellulase washing and stone washing.
