A Study on Least Mean Fourth (LMF) and Least Mean Squares-Fourth (LMSF) Blind Equalization Algorithm (최소평균 사제곱 (LMF) 및 최소평균 제곱과 사제곱을 혼합한 형태 (LMSF)의 블라인드 등화 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, wer derived LMF-Sato, LMSF-Sato complex blind equalization algorithms for complex data. And then, the convergence rates, the convergence characteristics at the steady state and the stability of the proposed LMF and LMSF blind equalization algorithms are compared with those of LMS-Sato blind equalization algorithm. In simulations with 16-QAM data, LMF-Sato and LMSF-Sato algorithms showed better performance comparing with LMS-Sato algorithm generally. When the initial estimation errors of the weights of the equalizer are large, LMF-Sato algorithm showed ill characteristic in stability. However, LMSF-Sato algorithm has good covergence characteristics and preserves robustness.

  • In this paper, new Multi-Modulus blind Equalizer Algorithms for QAM signal set is propsed and analyzed and its performance is evaluated. The MMA algorithm combines the benifits of RCA and CMA. A new Dual-mode blind Algorithms for QAM signal set is derived. The concept of this algorithms is based on the Dual-Mode algorithm and the MMA algorithm. In order to analyze and evaluate the performance of new MMA algorithms, computer simulation are performed for the nonsquare QAM signal constellations. Form the simulation results, we can verify that new MMA algorithms converges very fast comparing to conventional MMA algorithm.

  • Distribution-matching type algorithms based on a set of symbols generated in random order provide a limited performance under biased impulsive noise since the performance criterion for the algorithms has no variables for biased signal. For the immunity against biased impulsive noise, we propose, in this paper, a modified performance criterion and derived related blind algorithms based on augmented filter structures and the distribution-matching method using a set of random symbols. From the simulation results, the proposed algorithm based on the proposed criterion yielded superior convergence performance undisturbed by the strong biased impulsive noise.

  • A new multichannel blind deconvolution algorithm is proposed for speech mixtures. It employs unidirectional filters and normalization of gradient terms in the frequency domain. The proposed algorithm is shown to be approximately nonholonomic. Thus it provides improved convergence and separation performances without whitening effect for nonstationary sources such as speech and audio signals. Simulations using real world recordings confirm superior performances over existing algorithms and its usefulness for real applications.

  • RLS algorithm is a kind of the adaptive algorithms in smart antennas and adapts the weight vector using the difference between the output signal of array antennas and the known training sequence. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm based on the RLS algorithm. It calculates the error signal with reference signal derived from blind scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm yields more user capacity by 67∼74% than other blind adaptive algorithms(LS-DRMTA, LS-DRMTCMA) at the same BER and the beamformer forms null beams toward interference signals and the main beam toward desired signal.

  • In this study, We derived Recursive Least Squares(RLS) algorithm with adaptive maximum -likelihood channel estimate for digital pulse amplitude modulated sequence in the presence of intersymbol interference and additive white Gaussian noise. RLS algorithms have better convergence characteristics than conventional algorithms, LMS Least Mean Squares) algorithms.

  • In this paper, the multi-stage radius-directed algorithm is applied to fractionally spaced equalizers which are insensitive to the sampling timing-phase. these equalizers exhibit good convergence characeristics when compared to fractionally spaced blind equalizers using conventional blind algorithms. Also, multi-model fractionally spaced blind equalizers, which use multiple symbol spaced blind equalizers that operate independently, converge faster than conventional fractionally spaced blind equalizers.

  • This paper reviewed a few output-only system identification algorithms and identified the shortcomings of those popular blind source separation methods. To address the issues such as less sensors than the targeted modal modes (under-determinate problem), repeated natural frequencies as well as systems with complex mode shapes, this paper proposed a complex wavelet modified second order blind identification method (CWMSOBI) by transforming the time domain problem into time-frequency domain. The wavelet coefficients with different dominant frequencies can be used to address the under-determinate problem, while complex mode shapes are addressed by introducing the complex wavelet transformation. Numerical simulations with both high and low signal-to-noise ratios validate that CWMSOBI can overcome the above-mentioned issues while obtaining more accurate identified results than other blind identification methods.

  • Cognitive radio has been attracting increased attention as an effective approach to improving spectrum efficiency. One component of cognitive radio, spectrum sensing, has an important relationship with the performance of cognitive radio. In this paper, after a summary and analysis of the existing spectrum-sensing algorithms, we report that the existing eigenvalue-based semi-blind detection algorithm and blind detection algorithm have not made full use of the eigenvalues of the received signals. Applying multi-antenna systems to cognitive users, we design a variety of spectrum-sensing algorithms based on the joint distribution of the eigenvalues of the received signal. Simulation results validate that the proposed algorithms in this paper are able to detect whether the signal of the primary user exists or not with high probability of detection in an environment with a low signal-to-noise ratio. Compared with traditional algorithms, the new algorithms have the advantages of high detection performance and strong robustness

  • This paper presents the computerised simulation of colour-blindness and proposes a colour enhancement technique to aid colour-blinded people to use Visual Display Units (VDU). With the red-green colour perception difficulties, the ISH model has been used to develop the algorithms. The simulator and colour enhancement have been tested by colour-blind people and compared to existing simulators for colour-blindness.
