The aim of this study is to evaluate the applicability of Granulated Blast Furnace Slag to the development of the Powdered Ready-mixed Shotcrete. First of all, after accomplishing SEM analysis and Leaching Test, the laboratory and field experiments for evaluating the utility of Granulated Blast Furnace Slag were performed. As a result of SEM and Leaching test, the environmental stability was confirmed. That is, non-detection of harmful lists and dense shotcrete structure result from mixing Granulated Blast Furnace Slag. As a result of lab. and field test, Blast Furnace Slag is superior to Plain Batch in improving strength and durability. And it will be able to improve to some extent the problem caused by the delayed reaction of existing Granulated Blast Furnace Slag with alkali activated material. Also the proper amount of Granulated Blast Furnace Slag is estimated to be under 30%. Finally, it is possible that Granulated Blast Furnace Slag can apply to economical recycling and development of the Ready-mixed Shotcrete for its price is only about 5% of Silica-finne's price.

The purpose of this study reutilization of waste fine tailing (FT) as admixture for cement and concrete. Various admixtures were made of Fine tailings and 2 Types of OPC, fly-ash and blast furnace slag. Cement mortars and concrete with FT are tested for fluidity and compressive strength. Also, the hydration reactivity of cement mortar with FT was examined by XRD and SEM morphology analysis. This work showed that the waste fine tailing could be effectively utilized as replacement materials of cement without any decrease in the strength if we can control the blaine of materials like cement, blast furnace slag and fly ash.

The aim of this work is to have a better knowledge of reactions that take place in a cement paste, blast furnace slag mixed cement paste and fly ash mixed cement paste and know about the change in chemical components exposed to elevated temperature. The results show that the dehydration reactions appeared differently in the each admixture mixed cement paste and can be used as tracers for determining the temperature history of concrete after a fire exposure.

This paper reports the effects of coarse and fine recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) on fresh and hardened properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) containing ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS) as cement replacement. For this purpose, three SCC mixes groups, were produced at a constant water to binder ratio of 0.38. Both fine and coarse recycled aggregates were used as natural aggregates (NA) replacement at different substitution levels of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% by volume for each mix group. Each group, included 0, 15% or 30% GGBFS as Portland cement replacement by weight. The SCC properties investigated were self-compactability parameters (i.e., slump flow, T500 time, V-funnel flow time, L-box passing ability and sieve stability), compressive strength, capillary water absorption and water penetration depth. The results show that the combined use of RCA with GGBFS had a significant effect on fresh and hardened SCC mixes. The addition of both fine and coarse recycled aggregates as a substitution up to 50% of natural aggregates enhance the workability of SCC mixes, whereas the addition from 50 to 100% decreases the workability, whatever the slag content used as cement replacement. An enhancement of workability of SCC mixes with recycled aggregates was noticed as increasing GGBFS from 0 to 30%. RCA content of 25% to 50% as NA replacement and cement replacement of 15% GGBFS seems to be the optimum level to produce satisfactory SCC without any bleeding or segregation. Furthermore, the addition of slag to recycled concrete aggregates of SCC mixes reduces strength losses at the long term (56 and 90 days). However, a decrease in the capillary water absorption and water permeability depth was noticed, when using RCA mixes with slag.
China accounts for nearly half of the global steel production. As a waste material or a by-product in the manufacture process, a large amount of blast furnace slag is generated every year. The majority of recycled blast furnace slag is used as an additive in low-grade blended cement in China (equivalent to the UK CEM II or CEM III depending on the slag content). The cost of using ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) in such low-grade applications may not be entirely reimbursed based on market research. This paper reports an on-going project at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) which investigates the feasibility of using GGBS in long-span concrete structures by avoiding/reducing the use of crack control reinforcement. Based on a case study investigation, with up to 50% of CEM I cement replaced with GGBS, a beneficiary effect of reduced thermal contraction is achieved in long-span concrete slabs with no significant detrimental effect on early-age strengths. It is believed that this finding may be transferable from China to other Asian countries with similar climates and economic/environmental concerns.

In this study, the characteristics of the cement mortar replaced with fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag generated during circulating fluidized bed combustion method and pulverized coal combustion process were investigated. As a result of the study, when mixed with circulating fluidized bed combustor fly ash and pulverized coal combustion fly ash, it is advantageous not only in terms of strength development but also in terms of durability. The circulating fluidized bed combustor fly ash contributes to the improvement of initial reactivity, and the pulverized coal combustion fly ash is involved in long-term strength development through pozzolanic reaction. Therefore, it can be seen that the mixed use of circulating fluidized bed combustor fly ash and pulverized coal combustion fly ash acts as a complementary factor for cement mortar substituted with ground granulated blast furnace slag.

Recently, the importance of eco-friendly and sustainable development has been emphasized. The construction industry also needs to make efforts to reduce cement use, which accounts for 8% of greenhouse gas emissions. This study examined the fluidity and compressive strength of a cementless composite using fine blast furnace slag powder and fly ash without using cement in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to the use of cement.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the improvement of flow, compressive and flexural strengths of polymer cement mortar(PCM) using SBR latex mixed with blast-furnace slag and fly ash. The test specimens were prepared with SBR polymer dispersion, two types of admixture (blast-furnace slag and fly ash), five polymer-cement ratios (P/C; 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%), and six admixture contents (0, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20%), plain cement mortar was also made for comparison. From the test results, the flow of PCM was significantly improved compared to ordinary cement mortar, but the flow was slightly reduced when mixed with blast-furnace slag, and the flow was similar to PCM when mixed with fly ash. In addition, the compressive strength of PCM mixed with admixtures was significantly improved, but the flexural strength did not improve except for some mortars. It can be stated that the optimum mix proportions of PCM using SBR with admixture contents 10 to 15% and P/C 10% for the compressive strength improvement, and P/C 20% for flexural strength improvement are recommended respectively in this study.

In this study, blended cement with low blaine(2000, 3000$\textrm{cm}^2$/g) blast-furnace slag power by 10-70wt.% was investigated through the measurement hydration heat, physical properties. The experiment results indicated compressive strength was decreased as low blaine slag blended, but hydration heat was reduced significantly and flow of the cement paste was increased.

This study is performed to properties of low heat concrete using blast furnace slag powder and gypsum. The test result shows that the air content is in the range of $4.1%{\sim}5.1%$, the unit weight is in the range of $2,306kg/m^3{\sim}2,334kg/m^3$. The compressive strength of concrete mixed blast furnace slag(BFS) low than ordinary portland cement(OPC) at the curing age of 7days, but it is high or same at the curing age of 28days. And the natural gypsum shows superior compressive strength than the chemical gypsum.
