항공분야 온실가스 감축을 위한 바이오항공유 제조기술 (Bio-Jet Fuel Production Technologies for GHG Reduction in Aviation Sector)

  • Thie study presents the biomass-derived jet (bio-jet) fuel production technologies for greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in aviation sector. The aviation sector is responsible for the 2% of the world anthropogenic $CO_2$ emissions and the 10% of the fuel consumption: airlines' costs for fuel reach 30% of operating costs. In addition, the aviation traffic is expected to double within 15 years from 2012, while fuel consumption and $CO_2$ emissions should double in 25 years. Biojet fuels have been claimed to be one of the most promising and strategic solutions to mitigate aviation emissions. This jet fuel, additionally, must meet ASTM International specifications and potentially be a100% drop-in replacement for current petroleum jet fuel. In this study, the current technologies for producing renewable jet fuels, categorized by alcohols-to-jet, oil-to-jet, syngas-to-jet, and sugar-to-jet pathways are reviewed for process, economic analysis and life cycle assessment (LCA) on conversion pathways to bio-jet fuel.

다환 방향족 탄화수소(PAH) 분해 미생물 탐색을 위한 승화법의 개발 (Application of a Modified Sublimation Method to Screen for PAH-Degrading Microorganisms)

  • 다환 방향족 탄화수소(PAH; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon)는 발암성, 돌연변이 유발성, 유전독성을 지니기 때문에 인체위해성이 큰 물질로 알려져 있다. 기존 PAH 분해 미생물 탐색 방법중 독성이 강한 유기용매에 PAH를 용해시켜 미생물에 직접 분무하는 분무법, 미생물과 직접 혼합하는 한천중층법은 미생물 생장에 영향을 줄 뿐만 아니라, 특히 많이 쓰이는 분무법의 경우 분무되는 PAH의 양을 조절하기가 어렵고 멸균상태를 유지하기가 힘들다는 단점이 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 단점을 보완한 방법으로 승화법(Alley, Jeremy F. and Lewis R. Brown. 2000. Use of sublimation to prepare solid microbial media with water-insoluble substrates. Appl. Environ. Microbiol. 66, 439-442)을 도입하여 적용하였다. 그 결과 상용휘발유 및 태안유류유출지 시료로부터 분리한 350분리균주 중에서 7균주가 단일 PAH 또는 복수의 PAH 분해에 관여했다. 특히 Corynebacterium sp. SK20, Rhodococcus sp. TA24, Streptomyces sp. TA27은 시험한 pyene, phenanthrene, naphthalene에, Gordonia sp. H37는 pyrene, naphthalene에, Arthrobacter sp. S49는, naphthalene, phenanthrene에 활성이 있었다.

  • 디젤기관은 세계적으로 연료의 경제성 때문에 사용이 증가할 것이다. 그러나 NOx, 매연 등과 같은 배기가스를 배출한다. 본 연구는 커먼레일 연료분사 시스템에서, 연료온도, 분사 압력, 분사시간, 연료 점성에 따른 분무 특성을 실험하였다. 커먼레일 시스템에서, 디젤 연료는 분사 압력, 분사 시간에 따라 분무 형상이 다르다. 필터 압력은 연료 유동과 관련이 있는 연료 점성을 변화시키는 연료 온도에 영향을 받는다. 분무와 무화특성에 미치는 바이오 디젤 연료의 혼합율의 영향에 대해 많은 실험 조건에서 실험하였다. 바이오디젤 연료의 미립화 특성은 바이오 디젤 혼합비율이 증가하면 높은 점성 때문에 악화되는 것을 알았다.

유과의 품질규격 유지를 위한 외형 정보 측정 시스템 설계 및 적용 연구 (System Design and Application of External Feature Extraction for Quality Maintenance of Yukwa)

  • Korean oil and honey Yukwa has been paid attention as formal cake for traditional national seasons' holiday and religious service. Quality of Yukwa, however, has been maintained arbitrarily by each Yukwa manufacturer. Since even same Yukwa had severe differences in size, weight, and pattern, it has given the negative effect to the consumer. Yukwa industries need to setup the quantitative quality specifications instead of qualitative ones to maintain the uniformity of Yukwa quality. Efficient and economical inspection and process control system should be developed. In developing quality standards of Yukwa, features which can measure quality quantitatively in real time should be properly chosen. Existing quality features such as acidity, oxidization, hardness, viscosity, and texture were measured by the chemical or physical base destructive methods. Many research and developments have been performed in investigating and analyzing chemical transition states of those quality features as environment or storage condition changes. Most methods, however, require either off-line or complex treatment or time consuming process of analysis in evaluating quality features. Consumer, however, selects products mostly based on the external features such as shape, size, and color. Therefore, critical visual quality features should be chosen and the efficient real time measurement system must be developed. In this paper, computer image acquisition and processing system were developed and software modules were developed to extract the quantitative data of those features in real-time. Computer image processing system will promote in maintaining uniform quality of Yukwa and establishing quality standards of Yukwa.

현악기용 음향기능성 도료의 점탄성적 성질과 음향적 성질 (Viscoelastic and Acoustic Characterization of Coatings for Stringed Instruments)

  • 현악기용 도료가 현악기의 음향성능에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 음향분석장치(FFT)와 점탄성 분석장치(DMTA, dynamic mechanic thermal analyzer)를 이용하여 목재악기용 도료의 음향적 성능을 평가하였다. 목재악기용으로 사용된 도료는 악기용 우레탄계 상도도료, 오일 스테인계 도료, 천연바니쉬, 캐슈 도료 및 자외선 경화형 에폭시 도료를 사용하였다. 형성된 도막의 음향적인 특성은 FFT 분석기에서 측정된 공명주파수와 댐핑값(damping factor)과 DMTA에서 측정된 tan ${\delta}$를 통하여 유추하였다. FFT에서 측정된 공명주파수와 댐핑값으로부터 도막이 가지는 음향특성에 대해 분석하였다. 측정된 도막의 점탄성적인 특성과 음향적 특성을 검토한 결과 악기용으로서의 적정도료를 결정하였다.

직접분사식 바이오에탄올-가솔린 혼합연료의 분무 및 희박연소 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Spray and Lean Combustion Characteristics of Bio-enthanol-Gasoline Blended Fuel of GDI)

  • As a demand for an automobile increases, air pollution and a problem of the energy resources come to the fore in the world. Consequently, governments of every country established ordinances for green-house gas reduction and improvement of air pollution problem. Especially, as international oil price increases, engine using clean energy are being developed competitively with alternative transportation energy sources development policy as the center. Bio ethanol, one of the renewable energy produced from biomass, gained spotlight for transportation energy sources. Studies are in progress to improve fuel supply methods and combustion methods which are key features, one of the engine technologies. DI(Direct Injection), which can reduce fuel consumption rate by injecting fuel directly into the cylinder, is being studied for Green-house gas reduction and fuel economy enhancement at SI(Spark Ignition). GDI(Galoine Direct Injection) has an advantage to meet the regulations for fuel efficiency and $CO_2$ emissions. However it produces increased number of ultrafine particles, that yet received attention in the existing port-injection system, and NOX. As fuel is injected into the cylinder with high-pressure, a proper injection strategy is required by characteristics of a fuel. Especially, when alcohol type fuel is considered. In this study, we tried to get a base data bio-ethanol mixture in GDI, and combustion for optimization. We set fuel mixture rate and fuel injection pressure as parameters and took a picture with a high speed camera after gasoline-ethanol mixture fuel was injected into a constant volume combustion chamber. We figured out spraying characteristic according to parameters. Also, we determine combustion characteristics by measuring emissions and analyzing combustion.

인디고 생산능을 가진 Azoarcus sp. TSPY31과 TSNA42의 유전체 분석 (Complete genome sequences of Azoarcus sp. TSPY31 and TSNA42 potentially having biosynthetic ability to produce indigo)

  • 유류 오염된 해양 갯벌에서 분리한 다환방향수소족(PAHs)을 분해하는 균주들로부터 인디고로 생물전환 활성을 가진 것으로 예측되는 Azoarcus sp. TSPY31과 TSNA42 균주를 동정하였다. 이 두 균주의 유전체 분석을 실시한 결과, 모두 하나의 완전한 chromosome으로 구성되며, TSPY31은 총 4,572,082 bp에 G + C 함량은 63.2%로 이루어져 있고, TSNA42는 4,886,934 bp에 G + C 함량은 62.8%이었다. 이 두 균주 모두 인돌을 인디고로 전환하는 효소인 styrene monooxygenase를 각각 2 copy씩 보유하고 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • The purpose of this study was to review literature on beef recipes, focusing on 20 recipe books published from the late 1800s to 1990s. A total of 119 beef dry-heat cooking were recorded. The most often used cooking were as follows: roasting 54 times, skewering 35 times, stir-frying18 times, pan-frying11 times and deep frying 1 time. The culinary book that the recipes was Hangukeumsik daegwan (1997). ribs, brisket, rump, bottom sirloin, sirloin and tenderloin were used but all beef cuts were marked as 'beef.' Thus, it impossible to figure out which beef cut was used in the recipe. Chili, green onion, egg, tofu and wheat flour were used together as, while soy sauce, salt, sugar, sesame oil, ground pepper, pear juice, honey, chopped green onion, chopped garlic, ginger juice, ground sesame used as. In addition, pine nuts or ground pine-nuts were often used for garnish.

Degenerative changes in testis, epididymis, and sperm quality in ICR mice treated with methoxychlor and bisphenol A

  • Endocrine-disrupting chemicals found in many commercial products may interfere with the normal functioning of the endocrine system and are unsafe because of their cumulative effect on the human body. However, little is known about the effects of combinations of endocrine-disrupting chemicals in humans. Methoxychlor and bisphenol A are toxic to male reproductive organs. Therefore, we studied the effects of methoxychlor and bisphenol A on male reproductive function. Male mice were divided into four treatment groups: control, 400 mg methoxychlor, 1 mg bisphenol A, and 400 mg methoxychlor + 1 mg bisphenol A/kg/day. Methoxychlor and bisphenol A were dissolved in sesame oil and acetone and administered orally for 4 weeks. After administration, the weight and histological changes in the testicles and epididymis, sperm count and health were observed biochemical tests and whole blood counts were performed. The results showed that the mice in the bisphenol A and methoxychlor + bisphenol A groups gained more weight than those in the control and methoxychlor group. The weights of the testes and epididymis were higher in the experimental groups than in the control. Sperm motility and progression were significantly reduced in the bisphenol A and methoxychlor + bisphenol A groups. Histological observation showed a reduced number of sperm, smaller seminiferous tubules, and destroyed lumen in the methoxychlor + bisphenol A group compared to the other groups. In conclusion, our study showed that methoxychlor and bisphenol A destroy male reproductive tissues and decrease sperm quality.

윤활유첨가제로써 마모억제 성능을 갖는 Dimethacryloyloxy Alkane 유도체에 관한 연구 (A Study on Dimethacryloyloxy Alkane Derivatives Having an Anti-wear Performance as Lubricating Oil Additives)

  • Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP)와 같이 금속을 포함한 윤활유 첨가제는 값이 싸다는 이점 때문에 널리 사용되고 있으나, 재와 같은 불순물이 발생한다는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 ZDDP를 부분적으로 대체하여 zinc와 같은 금속을 포함하지 않는 구조인 알칸디올로부터 유래하는 bis[3-(dialkyloxyphosphorothionyl) thio-2-methylpropanyloxy] butane(BAP4)을 간편하고 효율적으로 합성하였고, 합성한 BAP4 화합물들에 따른 내 마모 특성을 살펴보았다. 여러 가지 알킬기가 있는 BAP4 화합물들이 4-ball 시험법에 의해 마모 직경(Wear scar diameter, WSD) 값이 측정되었다. BAP4 화합물에서 알킬기가 4에서 8로 증가함에 따라 WSD 값은 0.59 mm에서 0.45 mm로 급격히 감소했으나, BAP4의 알킬기가 8에서 14로 증가할 경우 WSD 값은 0.45 mm에서 0.50 mm로 서서히 증가했다. 따라서 BAP4 화합물 중 가장 WSD 값이 적게 나타난 것은 B8P4이었다. 윤활기유에 B8P4와 ZDDP를 0.50 wt%로 첨가하여 4-ball 시험을 실시한 결과, B8P4와 ZDDP의 WSD 값은 각각 0.45, 0.54 mm로 측정되었다. 또한, 열 중량 분석기(Thermogravimetric Analyzer, TGA)를 통해 열안정성을 확인하였고, 에너지 분산형 X-선 분광분석기(Energy-Dispersive X-rays Spectroscopy, EDS)로 tribofilm이 제대로 형성되었는지를 측정하였다.
