Given a sequence ｛ $X_{n}$｝ of independent and identically distributed random variables with F, a sequential procedure for the p-th quantile ξ$_{P}$= $F^{-1}$ (P), 0$\beta$-protection. Some asymptotic properties for the proposed procedure and of an involved stopping time are proved: asymptotic consistency, asymptotic efficiency and asymptotic normality. From one of the results an effect of smoothing based on kernel functions is discussed. The results are also extended to the contaminated case.e.e.

The concept of human emotion is recently demanded to be imbedded in industrial product and environment for enhancing quality of life. Human emotion is attempted to be qualified and quantified by physiological measurements. EEG variation, one of the physiological measurement, is observed to characterize psychological response in this study. This study is to find function and process of brain according to emotion. Twenty university students participated in this study and experienced positive and negative emotion by auditory stimulus. Delta, theta, alpha and beta waves showed characteristic variation in normalized sense according to positive and negative emotion. Local area showing significant difference between positive and negative emotion decreases with stimulus duration. Delta, theta and beta waves increase with negative emotion while alpha wave does with positive emotion.

Object : This study was designed to investigate the effects of Chungganhaeju-tang (Qingganjiejiu-tang) on cytotoxicity, growth inhibition, apoptosis and expression of cytokine in damaged HepG2 cells. Method : Toxicity on HepG2 cell induced by ethanol and acetaldehyde was measured for viability, cell growth, DNA replication and generation of apoptosis and cytokine. The recovery of the cell activity by Chungganhaeju-tang was estimated for the measured parameters using PCR with different cycle numbers, DNA gel-electrophoresis, and densitometric analysis, Results : Chungganhaeju-tang improves the recovery of HepG2 cells damaged by ethanol or acetaldehyde. The suppressed DNA synthesis of the cell damaged by ethanol or acetaldehyde is improved by Chungganhaeju-tang. A liver-protection effect was shown by the reduction of apoptosis and $TNF-{\alpha},{\;}IL-1{\beta}$ expressions that are induced by ethanol or acetaldehyde. Conclusion : The result indicates that Chungganhaeju-tang reduces toxicity induced by ethanol or acetaldehyde and recovers damaged liver function.

Beta-catenin (CTNNB1, catenin (cadherin-associated protein), beta 1) is involved in various biological processes, including embryogenesis, tumorigenesis, angiogenesis and progression of metastasis. CTNNB1, as a multifunctional and oncogenic protein, has important roles in adhesion between Sertoli cells through an N-cadherin-dependent manner and in various cancer types through its over-activation. In addition, CTNNB1 can interact with estrogen/estrogen receptor alpha complex, which regulates the transcription of WNT (wingless-type MMTV integration site family)/CTNNB1 target genes. Recently, we investigated the functional roles and expression pattern of CTNNB1 during the morphological changes of embryonic gonads of chickens and the estrogen-dependent regulation of CTNNB1 in oviduct development and potential functions as a biomarker of CTNNB1 in human epithelial ovarian cancer using the chicken as a biological research model. Therefore, in this review, we provide a new insight of potential role of CTNNB1 in the development of the female reproductive tract during early embryogenesis and ovarian carcinogenesis of laying hen models.

This paper presents an easily used graphical procedure for simultaneous estimation of the index, skewness, scale, and location parameters of the stable laws. First, the index $\alpha$ and skewness $\beta$ are estimated through the joint use of a tail length statistic $\widetilde{K_t}$ and a skewness statistic $\widetilde{K_s}$, both of which are functions of order statistics. Next, the function of order statistics needed for estimation of scale $\sigma$ and location $\mu$ are determined from a nomogram indexed on the estimates of $\alpha$ and $\beta$. Some applications and examples are provided.

By means of the fixed point theorem of Leray-Schauder type the existence principles of solutions for two point boundary value problems of the form $\array{(r(t)x^{\prime}(t))^{\prime}+f(t,x(t),r(t)x^{\prime}(t))=0,\;t{\in}I\\x(0)=x(T)=0}$ are established where f satisfies for positive constants a, b and c ${\mid}{f(t,x,y){\mid}{\leq}a{\mid}x{\mid}^{\alpha}+b{\mid}y{\mid}^{\beta}+c\;\;for\;all(t,x,y){\in}I{\times}H{\times}H$.

In this paper, the optimum shape and arrangement of ribs in the channel of a plate heat exchanger are studied. The following dimensionless geometric parameters of ribs are selected as design variables: rib height ($H_R$), angle of attack ($\beta$), rib pitch ($P_R$), rib distance (L) and aspect ratio of rib (AR). The optimization is performed by minimizing the objective function consisting of the Nusselt number and the friction factor. The optimal values of design variables are as follows: $H_R$=0.263, $\beta$=0.290, $P_R$=3.142, L: 3.954, AR=0.342. The pressure drop and the heat transfer of the optimum model, compared to those of the reference model, are increased by 15.1% and 41.6%, respectively.

This paper is transient motions of a very large floating structure subjected to dynamic load induced by wave. A time domain method is applied to the hydroelasticity problems for this purpose. The method is based on source-dipole and FEM scheme and on Newmark $\beta$ method to pursuit time step process taking advantage of the memory effect. The present method is appied to hydroelastic response analysis in regular waves and impact responses due to dropping aircraft.

The main aim of this research paper is to evaluate the general integral of the form $${\int_{0}^{1}}x^{c-1}(1-x)^{c+{\ell}}[1+{\alpha}x+{\beta}(1-x)]^{-2c-{\ell}-1}\atop {\times}_3F_2\left\[ {a,\;b,\;2c+{\ell}+1} \\ {\frac{1}{2}(a+b+i+1),\;2c+j\;;\frac{(1+{\alpha})x}{1+{\alpha}x+{\beta}(1-x)} }\right]dx$$ in the most general form for any ${\ell}{\in}\mathbb{Z}$; and $i, j=0,{\pm}1,{\pm}2$. The results are established with the help of generalized Watson's summation theorem due to Lavoie, et al. Fifty interesting general integrals have also been obtained as special cases of our main findings.

We consider 'ordinary' graphs: that is, finite undirected graphs with no loops or multiple edges.
