This study was conducted to find out the effects of agro-healing activities and strolling on the physiological conditions of patients with chronic metabolic diseases. A total of 11 subjects participated in agro-healing activities, and their average age was 49.6±11.3. Changes in their salivary cortisol were compared and analyzed before and after participating in the agro-healing activity program, and it was found that the stress hormone decreased after participating in the program. Differences in brain wave between before and after participating in agro-healing activities and strolling were measured, and the ratio of alpha to high beta (RAHB) of subjects increased in most of the measured points after participating in agro-healing activities. In addition, the increase in the value in the temporal lobe (T3) that controls mortor skills and occipital lobe (O2) that controls visual functions indicates that the activities were effective in improving relaxation and stability. The relative low beta (RLB) power spectrum of subjects also statistically significantly decreased in the right occipital lobe (O2) that controls visual functions, the relative mid beta (RMB) and relative high beta (RHB) power spectrum decreased in the left temporal lobe (T3) and the right occipital lobe (O2). These results indicate that the activities were effective in improving relaxation under no stress and tension. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure of subjects after participating in agro-healing activities decreased from the prehypertension level to the normal level. These results indicate that horticultural activities and visual elements in healing farms, such as agro-healing activities and strolling, have positive impacts on patients with chronic metabolic diseases accompanied with diabetes or high blood pressure by increasing the brain activity and psycho-physiological conditions of participants.
To investigate the influence of phenobarbital sodium on the action of morphine and on the diurnal rhythms of both opiate receptor binding and ${\beta}-endorphin$ contents, the amount of specifically bound $(^3H)$-morphine and immunoreactive ${\beta}-endorphin$ were measured in the midbrain of phenobarbital-treated rats at 4h intervals in a day. Rats were housed and adapted to a controlled cycle of either 12 h light-12 h dark or 24 h constant dark. After 3 weeks of adaptation, 0.5 ml of physiological saline or phenobarbital sodium (20mg/kg/day, i.p.) were administered twice a day for 2 weeks. Highly significant diurnal rhythms of opiate receptor binding and ${\beta}-endorphin$ were present in rat midbrain. In control group, the peak of maximum $(^3H)$-morphine binding was observed at 22:00 h, whereas the peak of ${\beta}-endorphin$ content was found at 06:00 h. Even in the absence of time cues these diurnal rhythms persisted, but they were highly modified with respect to the wave form as well as differences in the timing of peak and nadir. In the phenobarbital-treated group, these diurnal rhythms were also modified in shape, phase and amplitude, as well as in timing of peak and nadir. In this group, 24 h mean of opiate receptor binding was significantly decreased, while the 24 h mean level of ${\beta}-endorphin$ content was highly increased. However, Kd values in all experimental groups did not change. This indicates that differences in binding were not due to changes in the affinity, but in the number of binding sites. Statistical analysis of regression line indicates that changes of receptor binding were closely correlated with the changes of ${\beta}-endorphin$ content. These results suggest that phenobarbital may influence the action of morphine by changing the number of opiate receptors and that the modification of diurnal rhythm of opiate receptor by the agent is possibly due to changes of ${\beta}-endorphin$ content.
This study to evaluate the spinal motor neuron and electroencephalogram effects of applying different kinesio taping method therapy in normal people. The study was performed on 16 healthy adults. We divide two group; group I(n=8); Tape along muscle, group II(n=8); Tape across muscle. Two different method taping were applied to gastrocnemius in two weeks. Spinal motor neuron measurement to evoke H-reflex, the posterior tibial nerve was stimulated. Electroencephalogram measurement for ${\beta}$-SMR, attached to active electrode C3, Cz, C4. The H-reflex, ${\beta}$-SMR results were measured before, immediately, one week later and two week later after the apply taping. The results of this study, spinal motor neuron change of group I were decreased ${\alpha}$-motor neuron and the duration time longer than group II(p<.05). Electroencephalogram change of group I were increased ${\beta}$-SMR and the duration time longer than group II(p<.05). Thus, we knew the taping along muscle was ${\beta}$-SMR brain wave more active and reduces the activity of spinal motor neuron.

This study was conducted to provide basic data about the depression of parents with school-aged children by identifying the actor and partner effects of family interaction and self-esteem on depression among parents with school-aged children. Data on 1,475 pairs from the Wave 7 Panel Study on Korean Children were analyzed by using the SPSS 18.0 program and the AMOS 18.0 program. From the analysis of a hypothetical model, parents' family interaction exerted an actor effect on self-esteem. Mother's family interaction and self-esteem exerted an actor effect on depression; however, the partner effect on father's depression was not statistically significant. Father's family interaction and self-esteem exerted an actor effect on depression; however, the partner effect of father's family interaction on mother's depression was not statistically significant, and only father's self-esteem exerted a partner effect on mother's depression. The study results are as follows. First, the affecting factors of depression in school-aged parents, which are directly related to the depression of the child, were identified and the basic data of nursing intervention for the parents'. It is expected that clinical nurses will be used as data to convey professional knowledge to control parents' depression.

Objectives: Attentional and memory functions are important aspects of neural plasticity that, theoretically, should be amenable to pharmacopuncture treatments. A previous study from our laboratory suggested that quantitative electroencephalographic (qEEG) measurements of theta/beta ratio (TBR), an index of attentional control, may be indicative of academic performance in a first-semester medical school course. The present study expands our prior report by extracting and analyzing data on frontal theta and beta asymmetries. We test the hypothesis that the amount of frontal theta and beta asymmetries (fTA, fBA), are correlated with TBR and academic performance, thereby providing novel targets for pharmacopuncture treatments to improve cognitive performance. Methods: Ten healthy male volunteers were subjected to 5-10 min of qEEG measurements under eyes-closed conditions. The qEEG measurements were performed 3 days before each of first two block examinations in anatomy-physiology, separated by five weeks. Amplitudes of the theta and beta waveforms, expressed in ${\mu}V$, were used to compute TBR, fTA and fBA. Significance of changes in theta and beta EEG wave amplitude was assessed by ANOVA with post-hoc t-testing. Correlations between TBR, fTA, fBA and the raw examination scores were evaluated by Pearson's product-moment coefficients and linear regression analysis. Results: fTA and fBA were found to be negatively correlated with TBR (P<0.03, P<0.05, respectively) and were positively correlated with the second examination score (P<0.03, P=0.1, respectively). Conclusion: Smaller fTA and fBA were associated with lower academic performance in the second of two first-semester medical school anatomy-physiology block examination. Future studies should determine whether these qEEG metrics are useful for monitoring changes associated with the brain's cognitive adaptations to academic challenges, for predicting academic performance and for targeting phamacopuncture treatments to improve cognitive performance.
Generally, among the EEG signal, alpha wave is said to be strongly appeared in stable state and beta wave in active state. And in oriental medicine, it is said that relative long and regular respiration shows stable state rather than short and irregular respiration. In this paper, we tried to find out relation between respiration and EEG in stable state using quantitative parameters such as stable state ratio and equivalent ratio of respiration which was defined to indicate the degree of stable state quantitatively. And we verified our proposal by the real experiment for 20 persons.

The purpose of this study is to understand human sensory and emotional response according to car noise. This study investigated human stress levels from car noise based on the data of electro-encephalogram (EEG) and subjective evaluation analysis data. Since there are few previous works on the effect of car noise on human's reaction, more profound research about the effect of car noise on driver's emotion would be worth performing. Subjects were exposed to five different kinds of car noises. EEG data were collected while the subject was exposed to noise. In order to process EEG data, FFT analysis was used to separate the collected EEG data into ${\alpha}$-wave and ${\beta}$-wave. Also, survey was performed to carry out subjective evaluation. The results of the subjective evaluation were closely correlated to those found in the EEG signal analysis. The results from this study may provide useful information for mitigating car noise induced stress.
In this paper, electromagnetic scattering problems by a resistive strip grating with tapered resistivity on a grounded dielectric plane according to strip width and spacing, relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layers, and incident angles of a electric wave are analyzed by applying the Fourier-Galerkin Moment Method known as a numerical procedure. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the resistive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the electric current density on the strip. The resistivity of resistive strips in this paper varies from zeroes at one edge to infinite at the other edge, then the induced surface current density on the resistive strip is expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials of the order ${\alpha}=0.2,\;{\beta}=-0.2$ as a orthogonal polynomials. The numerical results of the geometrically normalized reflected power in this paper are compared with those for the existing perfectly conducting strip. The numerical results of the normalized reflected power for conductive strips case with zero resistivity in this paper show in good agreement with those of existing papers.
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease showing a symptom of repeated seizures without any other physical disorders. Among the diagnostic examination for epilepsy, the electroencephalogram (EEG) has been known as an important test. This study aimed to investigate the EEG with photic stimulation in the pediatric epilepsy patients. They underwent digital sleep and waking EEGs or waking EEGs with photic stimulation. Epilepsy type, seizure history, and season of occurring seizure were analyzed. Epilepsy patients showed more response during the period of photic-on and eye close at the frequency of 10~20 Hz during the EEG activation procedure. Photoparoxysmal response (PPR) was shown in 206 patients out of total 1,551 epilepsy patients. PPR was appeared more frequently during summer and winter seasons, and especially in the patients who had a history of seizure. During the PPR, EEG pattern showed spike (77.18%), theta (9.71%), and spike + theta (13.11%). On the other hand, beta and theta waves were not significantly changed by photic stimulation. However, alpha wave was decreased and delta wave was increased by photic stimulation (P<0.05). These changes may be due to temporarily altered electrophysiological function of the epileptic patient's brain by the photic stimulation. There was no difference in the EEG pattern between the left and right side in the brain. In conclusion, condition of photic-on with closed eyes and frequency of 10~20 Hz during the procedure of EEG activation could be appropriate for obtaining a definite photoparoxysmal response in the electroencephalogram of the pediatric epilepsy patients.
In this thesis, we made a sheet to improve the concentration of study. To demonstrate the improvement in the concentration of study, we obtained functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which has superior time resolution and measures brain noninvasively by using intrinsic contrast agent. As a result of Brainwave measurement, we could verify the blood flow's activate in the nearby frontal lobe related to memory process and noticeable ratio change in absolute alpha wave and beta wave after the analysis of Brainwave measurement. fMRI ascertains the physiological function of the brain and is being used to prevent the trouble medically that can be caused before and after the operation. For the visibility of cranial nerve network, many researches will be carried out to develope the product which is related to brain like concentration of study.
