  • The important factor to evaluate the running safety of a railway vehicle would be the interaction force between wheel and rail(derailment coefficient), for which is one of important factors to check the running safety of a railway vehicle that may cause a tragic accident. Element that analyze derailment coefficient is consisted of wheel load and lateral force. In this paper, studied about method that calculate vertical force(wheel load) by bending load of axle in rolling stocks.

  • Assuring required dimensional tolerance after spingback becomes the main concern of sheet-forming die designers when formability is secured through previous tryout. As a part to build a guideline to control springback in automobile frame forming, experiments are carried out to show the effects of process parameters, such as holding force, blank size, and lubrication, on corner angles of channels formed by U-bending or by square-cup drawing and trimming. The results are resented in the viewpoint of evaluating parameters.

  • This paper describes an evaluation of reinforcement tension in RC beams using the variable truss models. The models were examined with the beam test results by Kim, Kim and White. Consequently, a fixed inclination $\theta$ at the support un-explains global state of internal force flow in cracked reinforced concrete beams subjected to shear and bending. Evaluation of Physical and Mechanical Properties of Non-certificated Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) Circulated in Domestic Lumber Market

  • The selected physical and mechanical properties of non-certificated LVL circulated in domestic lumber market were investigated and compared to relevant standards. The tested LVL passed the moisture content and the soaking delamination rate limit as per domestic (KS) and Japanese standard (JAS). The evaluated mechanical properties were flatwise/edgewise bending strength, modulus of elasticity (MOE), horizontal shear and compressive strength. The 30 mm-thick LVL showed significantly higher bending strength than that of the 25 mm-thick LVL. The modulus of elasticity (MOE) showed same tendency in the results of bending strength. The edgewise bending strength and MOE were higher than that of flatwise bending strength and MOE. The horizontal shear strength values were also showed similar results to bending strength values. The tested results were compared each other and each products were graded according to JAS 701 grade specification. The failure mode of LVL in bending test showed the similar failure mode of solidwood that failed in a simple tension manner (splintery tension). The glue line failure was severe in 25 mm-thick specimens due to concentration of shear stress in layer discontinuity containing small voids and starved glue lines. In horizontal shear strength test, failure mode of LVL showed the typical horizontal shear failure. Compressive specimens failed with fiber crushing in company with apparent delamination that splitted along the length of the specimens. From the results, the complete bonding between lamination and consistency in thin veneer layer were considered as a critical factor in the mechanical properties of LVL. Moreover, the standard test procedure and specification for non-certificated LVL should be required to check the performance of uncertificated materials.

S35C강의 피로균열 발생 및 진전에 관한 연구 (The Research of Fatigue-Crack Initiation and Propagation for S35C Steel)

  • Surface crack growth characteristics and influence of the stress amplitude in rotary bending fatigue test were evaluated for annealed S35C steel, and than fractal dimensions of fatigue crack paths estimated using the box counting method. The following results that will be helpful to understand the fatigue crack growth mechanism were obtained. (1) Crack growth rate ds/dN and db/dN (s : half crack length at the surface crack, b : crack depth) depended on stress amplitude (${\Delta}{\sigma}/2$), stress intensity factor range (${\Delta}K_A, {\Delta}K_C$) and crack length. (2) At the effect area of 0.3 mm hole notch (s<0.5 mm) crack growth rate did not depend on these factors. (3) The fractal dimensions (D) increased with stress amplitude (${\Delta}{\sigma}/2$) but decreased with cyclic number.

  • A branched crack in a semi-infinite plate under tension and bending moment is considered. Intensity factors of the stress and moment for the branched crack are evaluated. The stress intensity factors are obtained by using the finite element method and the J-based mutual integral. The moment intensity factors are calculated by extrapolating the values of the moment near the crack tip. Approximate expressions are also obtained as functions of the branched crack length and branching angle.

  • Transmission spectra are measured from waveguide-coupled ring resonators fabricated with SiNx on SiO2. By using ring resonators with various radii and several index contrasts, the behavior of the quality factors is investigated. As the index contrast decreases, the dominant loss is from scattering for a large resonator, while that changes from scattering loss to bending loss for a small resonator. We verify that the quality factor can be drastically improved by reducing the index contrast in large ring resonators.

유한 차분 모델을 이용한 알루미나의 열피로 수명 예측 (Thermal Fatigue Life Prediction of Alumina by Finite Difference Model)

  • Thermal history and thermal stress of alumina specimen, which occured from thermal shock process, were calculated by finite difference method. Stress intensity factor and crack growth in cyclic thermal fatigue were calculated from single thermal shock temperature history and thermal stress. Cyclic thermal life were estimated by bending strength after cyclic thermal shock under critical thermal shock temperature. Calculated stress intensity factor was compared with real experimental thermal fatigue life of specimen. Fatigue life until critical stress intensity factor and real experimental result were comparable.

적층각도에 따른 CFRP 평판에서의 굽힘으로 발생한 크랙 파손에 관한 해석적 연구 (Analysis Study on the Damage of Crack Happening with the Bending at CFRP Plate due to Stacking Angle)

  • 본 논문은 탄소섬유로 구성된 평판형태의 시험편에 굽힘 모멘트가 작용할 때 내부의 섬유구조에서 발생되는 굽힘 응력과 전단응력, 변형에너지에 관한 것이다. CFRP는 무수히 많은 섬유가 다축구조를 형성하고 있어 굽힘조건에서 응력을 효과적으로 분산할 수 있다. 이때 적층각도에 따라 다양한 물성을 보이게 되는데, 섬유의 수평방향인 Stacking angle $0^{\circ}$에서부터 수직방향인 $90^{\circ}$에 이르기까지의 결과에 있어, Stacking angle이 증가함에 따라 등가 응력과 전단응력이 점차 줄어들며 $60^{\circ}$를 기점으로 다시 증가함을 보이고 있다. 본 연구결과를 토대로,적층각도에 따른 평판에서의 굽힘으로 인한 파손특성을 해석적 접근을 통해 고찰하였으며, 본연구는 파손방지와 내구성 향상을 위한 안전설계에 기여할 수 있다고 사료된다. 또한 평판 형상으로서의 디자인적 요소를 융합기술에 접목함으로서 그 미적인 감각을 나타낼 수 있다.
