To analyze the pesticide residues in commercial bee pollen products in South Korea, 61 samples were collected and screened for 339 pesticides. Results revealed that approximately 34% (>LOQ) of samples were contaminated with at least one pesticide. The pesticide residue detection rates of domestic and imported samples were 31% and 44%, respectively. Furthermore, the pesticide residue detection rate of online distribution (60%) was higher than that of offline distribution (27%). Fifteen pesticides were discovered in bee pollen, and pendimethalin, chlorfenvinphos, chlorpyrifos, and fluazinam were detected in 7, 6, 3, and 2 order of frequency, respectively. Even though its concentration was low, chlorfenvinphos which is banned in food crops in the United States, European Union, and Korea, was detected in bee pollen samples commonly. Therefore, continuous investigation of pesticide residues in bee pollen products and their acceptance criteria is required for safety.
Bee venom is used as a traditional medicine for treatment of arthritis. The anti-inflammatory activity of the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and aqueous partitions from bee venom (Apis mellifera) was studied using cyclooxygenase (COX) activity and pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-$\alpha and IL-1\beta$) production, in vitro. COX-2 is involved in the production of prostaglandins that mediate pain and support the inflammatory process. The aqueous partition of bee venom showed strong dose-dependent inhibitory effects on COX-2 activity ($IC_{50} = 13.1 \mu$ g/mL), but did not inhibit COX-1 activity. The aqueous partition was subfractionated into three parts by molecular weight differences, namely, B-F1 (above 20 KDa), B-F2 (between 10 KDa and 20 KDa) and BF-3 (below 10 KDa). B-F2 and B-F3 strongly inhibited COX-2 activity and COX-2 mRNA expression in a dose-dependent manner, without revealing cytotoxic effects. TNF-$\alpha and IL-1\beta$ are potent pro-inflammatory cytokines and are early indicators of the inflammatory process. We also investigated the effects of three subfractions on TNF-$\alpha and IL-1\beta$ production using ELISA method. All three subfractions, B-F1, B-F2 and B-F3, inhibited TNF-$\alpha and IL-1\beta$production. These results suggest the pharmacological activities of bee venom on anti-inflammatory process include the inhibition of COX-2 expression and the blocking of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-$\alpha and IL-1\beta$) production.

To investigate the possible molecular mechanism (s) of bee venom as a candidate of anti-cancer drug, we examined the effects of the compound on the growth of human lung carcinoma cell line A549. Bee venom treatment declined the cell growth and viability of A549 cells in a concentration-dependent manner, which was associated with induction of apoptotic cell death. Bee venom down-regulated the levels of anti-apoptotic genes such as Bcl-2 and Bcl-XS/L, however, the levels of Bax, a pro-apoptotic gene, were up-regulated. Bee venom treatment induced not only tumor suppressor p53 but also cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21WAF1/CIP1 expression in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, bee venom treatment induced the down-regulation of telomerase reverse transcriptase mRNA and telomeric repeat binding factor expression of A549 cells, however, the levels of telomerase-associated protein-1 and c-myc were not affected. Taken together, these findings suggest that bee venom-induced inhibition of human lung cancer cell growth is associated with the induction of apoptotic cell death via regulation of several major growth regulatory gene products, and bee venom may have therapeutic potential in human lung cancer.

Data collection and classification of products for factory automation is one of important processes. If conveyor systems corresponding to factory automation have crossroads, a lot of difficulties arise. These issues can be solved by using Zig-Bee technology capable of network configuration. Network with Zig-Bee is configured to coordinators, routers, and end-device. And Zig-Bee for up to 65,536 network formation is possible. In this paper, system to transmit the data of RFID tag to the host PC has been implemented, after connecting multiple EM4095 RFID system to Zig-Bee transmitter/receiver system.
Objectives: In this study, the content of the honey produced by the flora of Turkey', physical, chemical and biological research aimed at active properties. Methods: Searched the database EMBASE/Pubmed and Turkish Medicine Index research article about Turkiye honeys' specialities. Results: Different botanical sources were caused, different kinds of chemical compositions of the honeys. The amount of HMF, pH, moisture, and acidity are the chemical qulity criteria of the honey. Carbohydrates are seem the most important components of honey. The glycemic index of the consumed honey is important. Turkiye's honey quality seems apropiate for using apitherapy. Conclusion: Honey is the most important product of beekeeping all over the world in terms of economy and health. Manufacturers of honey should be careful while producing honey. They should be avoided unhealty situations and they should be obey the rules. These rules are the basis for protecting our health by consuming bee products.

Despite the consumption of bee brood in several parts of the world, particularly in the tropical areas, the practice has received comparatively little attention. We have reviewed all the available information on the nutrient composition and functional properties of different developmental stages of honey bee workers belonging to different species and subspecies. Noticing the competent nutrient composition of, in particular, honey bee brood, pupae, and prepupae, we suggest that they could be a potential source of human nutrition as well as animal feed. Moreover, drone brood is an ideal candidate for use as a food or as food ingredient. However, to analyze the functional properties of different honey bee species remains a task for further analysis.

Recently ships and ocean platforms are becoming increasingly technological, unmanned, and huge. Maintenance and safety monitoring of these products is very important for safety reasons. Therefore, real-time monitoring of safety regions, such as the engine room, and hull structure, and environmental states, like fire and pressure of LNG tanks, is required for the sustainable ships. In this paper, a ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is suggested to monitor ships and ocean platforms effectively. However, this causes some telecommunication problems because these products are made of steel. To resolve this problem, we use the mesh networking of Zig-Bee that can monitor the regions and environmental states consistently. The telecommunication of such a monitoring system is tested on a real container ship and its performance is verified. The real-time monitoring results are displayed on the users' smart devices.
Bee venom (BV) has long been used in traditional Eastern and Western medicine for chronic inflammation, pain and skin therapy. Human exposure to BV, however, often causes unwanted adverse effects and is even fatal in some cases. Phospholipase $A_2$ ($PLA_2$) of BV is now suspected to play a key role in these adverse effects. We investigated the potential use of $PLA_2$-free bee venom (PBV) as a replacement for BV in cosmetic products. PBV prepared by molecular weight cut-off ultrafiltration exhibits a superior profile in comparison with regular BV, by inhibiting elastase activity and suppressing the induction of nitric oxide (NO) and metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), while retaining the effects of cell proliferation and protection against ultraviolet B (UVB)-induced damage in human dermal fibroblast cells. PBV thus appears to be more promising than BV as a cosmetic ingredient with a reduced potential for adverse reactions in the recipient.
