The purpose of this study were to investigate the bed climate and the physiological responses in sleep on the traditional Korean floor heating system called Ondol. Ondol has been the most widely used heating system in Korea, yet there has been a no systematic studies examined its environmental effects on human body. Experimental room was constructed to match the typical thermal environment of Ondol. (floor surface temperature; $32\~33^{\circ}C$, air temperature; $22.5{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$, relative humidity; $64.0{\pm}4.0\%$RH, air velocity; 0.25 m/sec.) Three different combinations of bedclothes were chosen for the experiment based on the study results showing that they were the most widely used types in Korea. Type 1 was the combination of a cotton-padded mattress with a cotton-padded Korean style blanket. Type 2 was a cotton-padded mattress with a cotton-guilted Korean style blanket. Type 3 was a cotton-padded matless with a polyacryl blanket. Thermal resistance of each of these combina-tions in the bedclothes was measured using thermal manikin. Two adult female was chosen for the seven hour sleeping experiment which was known to be the average sleeping hours of Korean adult female. The bed climate was measured with the temperature under the mattress, the surface temper-ature of the mattress, and the air temperature and the relative humidity of the space between the mattress and blanket. The skin temperature, rectal temperature of the subjects and the bed climate were measured eight times, one hour before the experiment and every hour during the experiment. The weight loss and the subjective sensation were measured for the each subjects before and after the experiment. The procedure was repeated twice with two subjects and three types of bedclothes, yielding twelve combinations of results. The results were as follows; 1. With the surface temperature of $32\~33^{\circ}C$ of Ondol, air temperature was $22.5{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$ with $64.0{\pm}4.0\%$ RH. The bed climates were $39.2{\pm}40.8^{\circ}C$ under the mattress, $35.3\~36.2^{\circ}C$ on the mattress, and $26.9\~32.0^{\circ}C$ with $56.0\~71.3\%$ RH between the mattress and the blanket. 2. Mean skim temperature during sleep was 34.2"C with local skin temperature of $34.0\~35.5^{\circ}C$. The skin temperatures of abdomen, thigh, foot were higher than the other parts of the body. 3. The skin temperature of chest, thigh, leg and back varied significantly according to the combinations of bedclothes. With the cotton-padded blanket, the skin temperature was the highest, while with the cotton-guilted blanket showed lowest. 4. Examining the relationship between the mean skin temperature and the local skin temper-ature, the chest temperature showed the highest correlation with the former. Therefore, the chest temperature can be recommended to represent the skin temperature in measuring the bed climate. 5. The subjective bed climates were $39.0\~40.4^{\circ}C$ under the mattress, $35.2\~35.9^{\circ}C$ on the mattress, $29.8\~31.6^{\circ}C$ with $56.8\~68.4\%$ RH between the mattress and blanket. In sum, from this experiment we not only obtained the reliable value of bed climates on Ondol, but also showed that the bed climates and the physiological responses were affected differently according to the materials of bed clothes.

It is generally recognize that the weight of energy cost for railroad alignment in the life cycle cost is higher than that for roadway. This study analyzed the relative weights of railroad road-bed construction cost and energy cost in the case of Seoul-Pusan High Speed Rail. Recently, the optimization of railroad alignment with computerized methodology has been studies. The optimization is supposed to aim the minimization of life cycle cost including the energy cost as well as the minimization of the construction cost. The operation period of the Seoul-Pusan High Speed Rail is limited to ten years, then various future operation scenario were developed for the next 20 years. The weight of energy cost is estimated 10~30% of the construction cost by scenario, and it is lower than the figure generally expected. It may be meaningful to provide the method to include the energy cost in the railroad alignment optimization.
To understand the growth pattern of ginseng plant under shading, the vertical distribution of leaf area, leaf area index (LAI) and specific leaf weight (SLW) and changes in light intensity as affected by planting position were investigated in 3 to 5 years old ginseng plant populations. Light intensity was vertically lowest at about 10cm above the ground and became low at the rear planting position in 3-year-old population. When culturing bed (96cm in width) were divided into three parts at intervals of 32cm from front to rear, the leaf area in 3-year-old population was largest in middle 1/3 part of planting bed. Light intensity affected the SLW positively, but LAI showed no distinct difference among planting positions. The light environment of 4-year-old population was worse than that of 3-year-old population and leaf area and LAI differed greatly among planting positions. In 5-year-old population, leaf dry weight and leaf area of furrow part (that is, the amount of leaves protruded from the plants which were planted in 1st, 2nd or 3rd lines into the furrow) increased. The dry weights of leaves and stem increased considerably as plant became aged, and were distributed mainly in upper layer.
Attempts were made to investigate the conditions of mycelia of one low-temperature type strain and one high-temperature type strain of shiitake showing poor fruit-body formation in bed-log, and to survey harmful microorganisms formed on the log surface in Gapyung County, Korea. When tested the growing ability of mycelia, the low-temperature type strain showed ca. 1.1% decrease compared with preserved original strain. And, the high-temperature type one showed ca. 8.0% decrease. The growth of isolated mycelia was tested in sawdust medium. The high-temperature type strain showed ca. 10.8% decrease compared with original strain, and the low-temperature type one showed ca. 25.1% decrease. Weight reduction rate was investigated. The high-temperature strain showed ca. 20.1% decrease and the low-temperature one ca. 19.0%. When compared with non-treatment, original high-temperature type strain showed 107.0% decrease, the isolated high-temperature type strain 49.5%, original low-temperature type one 85.4%, isolated low-temperature type one 50.0%. As the results of confrontation culture, the high-temperature type strain and the low-temperature type one were same as the original ones, respectively. And, in the bed-logs, Hypoxylon truncatum, Coriolus versicolor, Inonotus xeranticus, Daedaleopsis tricolor, Graphostroma platystoma, two species of Myxomycetes, Trichoderma sp. Hypoxylon fragiforme, H. howeianum, and Nitschkia confertula were observed as harmful microorganisms, and the bed-logs were not in good condition.
Press machine has advantages over other manufacturing machine which can produce large quantities of products in short time so it is widely used in lots of industrial sectors. To obtain the vehicle's weight lightening and rigidity of the body-frame by applying 'Hot stamping' technique is increasing in the automotive field. In this paper, to improve the irregular vibration arose by 800Ton hot stamping press, the research was continued. Bed, slide and main frame are the key part of working precision, so perform structural analysis was conducted, and based on the analyzing results, structural changes were done on the parts where structural deformation occurred.
The objective of this study was to confirm the effect of the type of dissolution media and paddle speed on nifedipine (ND) release profile from osmotic granule and the storage stability. Osmotic granule was manufactured by fluidized bed coating method. At each coating step, morphology of osmotic granule was differed. The size of osmotic granule was $750\;{\mu}m$ at 3 wt% membrane thickness. ND release was changed in diverse dissolution media, paddle speed. ND release is governed by not only osmotic pressure but diffusion from osmotic granule. ND release from osmotic granule decreased as storage period increased. These may be caused by liquid excipient which has low molecular weight. Storage stability of osmotic granule could be improved by removing liquid excipient from semipermeable membrane.
A selective chlorination of titaniferrous magnetite in a fluidized bed reactor was investigated to find the optimum condition for selective removal of Fe component from low grade titaniferrours magnetite ore and to produce a rutile substitute from titaniferrous magnetite ore. The optimum chlorination condition was determined to be a temperaure of $950^{\circ}C$, 2hr of reaction time, reducting agent(petroleum coke) to titaniferrous magnetite weight ratio of 0.12, and $Cl_2$ gas velocity of 5cm/sec. Under the above mentioned condition, 99% of Fe in titaniferrous magnetite was removed and the reaction residue which became rutile substitute was identified as rutile by x-ray diffraction and was found to contain 70% $TiO_2$.

Background: Previous researchers have investigated the mechanical and neurophysiological effects of manual mobilization, however little research has been done on muscle tone and muscle stiffness. Objective: To compare the effects of posterior-anterior (PA) mobilization with weight bearing on sling and conventional PA mobilization on the bed. Design: Randomized controlled trial (single blind) Methods: The subjects were 16 male university students and randomized to sling mobilization group (SMG, n=8) or conventional mobilization group (CMG, n=8). SMG received PA mobilization using a sling and CMG received traditional mobilization on the bed during lumbar mobilization. Results: Both left and right muscle tones of SMG increased, but left muscle tone of SMG were increased and right muscle tone was decreased after intervention. In addition, both left and right muscle stiffness of SMG were also increased, however left muscle stiffness of SMG was increased and right muscle stiffness was decreased. The muscle tone and muscle stiffness of SMG were higher than those of DMG, especially the right side was statistically significantly higher. Extension of SMG, extension and flexion of CMG were increased statistically significantly except for Flexion of SMG (p<.05). There were no significant differences between the groups in Extension and Flexion. Conclusions: This study suggests that lumbar spine PA mobilization using sling is beneficial in improving muscle tone, muscle stiffness, and trunk movement.

This study investigated a suitable method that could be applied for Asian chain fern [Woodwardia japonica (L. f.) Sm.] to propagate gametophytes and promote sporophyte formation. The gametophytes used in all experiments were obtained from germinated spores in vitro and were subcultured at 8-week intervals. The most appropriate media for gametophyte propagation was identified by culturing 300 mg of gametophyte in Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium (1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2), and Knop medium for 8 weeks. As a result, fresh weight of the gametophyte was increased by 56.7-fold on MS medium. Moreover, antheridium formation as well as gametophyte growth was improved on MS medium, especially. To improve the sporophyte formation ex vitro, 1.0 g of gametophyte was ground with distilled water and spread on eight combinations onto four different culture mediums, such as bed soil, peat moss, perlite and decomposed granite. Then generation and growth of sporophytes were investigated after cultivation for 10 weeks. As a result of this experiment, peat moss had a promotive effect of sporophyte formation at single-use and mixed culture soils. In particular, a mixture of bed soil, peat moss and perlite in a 1:1:1 ratio (v/v/v) led to the accelerated formation (782.5 ea/pot) and the frond growth of sporophytes. This included increases in length and width of fronds. However, promotive effect of gametophyte growth and sporophyte formation was not found at single-use and treatment with high ratio of bed soil.
The purpose of this study was to show the application of the Biofilter for treatment of the soil contaminated by lead and to investigates the effect of the biofilter on the retardation of lead with pilotplants that were simulated with different media and the number of bed. and to testify the inoculation by seeding microbes. The ratio of the degradation of soil contaminant was verified as CODcr/TOC in order to find a variation of the stabilization index in soil. The Biofiltration was one of biological processing methods for treatment. The contaminants were transported through the biofilter that was filled with the media. The surface of media formed biofilm which was surrounded by microbes and through its boundary, some materials were exchanged and migrated into the cell of microbes in an orderly manner. To investigate the effect of the Biofiltration, contaminated soil with lead nitrate of 1000mg/kg in dry was made artificially. The tests were simulated such as compost, Bioceramic and compost with bioceramic by 7:3 in weight. The bed consisted of three layers in order to find effect of the number of bed. Aspergillus niger was used as a biosorbent could probe the effect on the retardation of lead.
