A Study of Influence on the Thermal deflection of the Feed system in the Bearing Arrangement method (베어링 조합방법이 이송축 열변위에 주는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • One of the important technical issues is how to decrease thermal expansion of ballscrew in proportion to the increase of machining speed. when measuring force of stretch of ballscrew, since not only actual expansion and the value of bending have to be considered, it's impossible to definite the exact value of expansion. In addition, support bearings of ballscrew gain considerable force in axial direction. It also generates thermal expansion on the ballscrew, and deteriorates the bearings. In conclusion, it's impossible to give the pretension enough to absorb the all elongation due to thermal expansion generated during machine running. If gave, bed, column and saddle are all bent to change machine accuracy, and the support bearings of ballscrew are damaged. The purpose of this paper is to study the pretension of support bearing of ballscrew in machine tool.

One of the important technical issues is how to decrease thermal expansion of ball screw in proportion to the increase of machining speed. When measuring force of stretch of ball screw, since not only actual expansion and the value of bending have to be considered, it is impossible to define the exact value of expansion. In addition, support bearings of ball screw gain considerable force in axial direction. It also generates thermal expansion on the ball screw, and deteriorates the performances of the hearings. In conclusion, it is impossible to give the pretension enough to absorb all the elongation due to thermal expansion generated during machine is running. If given bed column and saddle are all bent to chance machine accuracy, and the support bearings of ball screw is damaged.

  • The Rapid Expansion of supercritical fluid Solutions (RESS) process was applied to particles coating. Experiments were conducted in a fluidized bed with an internal nozzle in the center of the reaction tube. Microcapsules (mean particle size : 49$\mu\textrm{m}$) prepared by spray drying method were used as the core particles. Supercritical CO2 solutions of paraffin were expanded through the nozzle in to the bed that was fluidized by air. Surface morphology prepared particles was observed by SEM. For the inspection of particle size change, particle size distributions were measured before and after coating. The releasing behavior of Mg2+ ions inspected by AA.

  • Biological drinking water treatment is widely used in Europe for the removal of ammonia nitrogen and organics. During the last 16 years, the deterioration of the quality of surface waters used to produce drinking water has resulted in the widespread use of ozone-biological treatment in Korea. This study were conducted to determine the effect of media weight and preozonation on the biodegradability enhancement in biological fluidized bed(BFB) using Han river water. When the carbon weight was increased, $NH_{3}-N$ and DOC removal increased, but turbidity and SS removal decreased. To remove turbidity and SS, the bed depth in 40% expansion rate/total bed depth was very important. Preozonation of raw water was not effective in $NH_{3}-N$, but increased in biodegradable organic fraction about 10-30% with 0.425-0.85 mg $O_{3}/mg$ DOC.

  • The water gas shift conversion catalyst prepared by the American Cyanamide Co. was subjected to fluidization in a 2-in. Pyrex glass tube to obtain the basic fluidization characteristic data. The size of the catalyst charged ranged from 70 to 120 meshes and it was supported on a single layer 300-mesh wire gauze through which the fluidizing medium, the air, was passed. Following are some data and facts found by the authors: (1) The catalyst particles were porous, and their surfaces were trough and irregular. (2) The average effective particle density and the average shape factor of these particles were 152.2 lb/$ft^3$ and 0.865 respectively. (3) As the particle diameter of the catalyst increased, the minimum fluid voidage of the bed decreased slightly. (4) Just before the incipient fluidization, pressure drop suddenly fell and the bed expanded simultaneously. (5) After fluidization set in, the expansion characteristics of the catalyst bed were similar to those of sand and glass beads except intense bubbling in the catalyst bed.

  • The determination of production level of the domestic anthracite coal is an important issue in the national energy strategy. It is also closely related to the energy mix scenarios in the future. The objective of the paper is to discuss and analyze the options of expanding anthracite coal demand in the utility sector. The observed options are including; (1) New pulverized system of the 200 and 500 MW level, (2) Atmospheric Fluidized Bed Combustion (AFBC), and (3) Pressurized Fluidized Bed Combustion (PFBC). Special emphasis is placed on the considerations in estimating the effects on the electric system costs and government subsidies when the options are introduced in the utility sector.

Biofilm Processes for Volume Decrease in Recirculating Water Treatment Systems for Aquaculture

  • The engineering aspect of water treatment processes in the recirculating aquaculture system was studied. To recycle the water in the aquaculture system, a wastewater treatment process was required to maintain high water quality for the growth and health of the cultured fish. In this study, three different biofilm processes were used to reduce the concentration of organic matters and ammonia from the recirculating water - two phase fluidized bed, three phase fluidized bed, and trickling filter. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the optimum treatment conditions of the biofilm processes for the recirculating aquaculture system, and thereby reduce the volume of biofilm processes, which are commonly used for the recycle water treatment processes for aquaculture. The result of this study showed that the removal efficiency of organic matters by trickling filter was found to be lower than that of the fluidized bed. In the trickling filter system, anthracite showed better organic removal efficiency than crushed stone as a media. In the two phase fluidized bed, the maximum removal efficiency of either organics or ammonia was obtained when both the packing rate of media was maintained to $40\%$ of total reactor depth excepting sediment zone and the bed expansion rate was maintained to $100\%$. When 100 tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) of each average 200g was reared, the pollutant production rate was 0.07g $NH_4\;^+-N/kg$ fish/day and 0.06g P04-3-P/kg fish/day, and sludge production rate was 0.39 g SS/kg fish/day. In the two phase and three phase fluidized bed, the volume of water treatment tank could be calculated from an empirical equation by using the relationship between the influent COD to $NH_4\;^+-N$ ratio (C/N, -), media concentration (Cm, g/L), influent ammonia nitrogen concentration (Ni, mg/L), effluent ammonia nitrogen concentration (Ne, mg/L), bed expansion rate $(E,\;\%)$, and influent flowrate $(Q,\;m^3/hr)$.   • The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of CFBC artificial fine aggregate as a substitute for natural aggregate used in dry mortar. The basic performance of the flow, compressive strength and dry shrinkage of the dry mortar was evaluated. Four types of test dry mortar specimens using natural aggregate without expansion admixture, a specimen with modified CaO expansion admixture and natural aggregate, a specimen with modified CaO expansion admixture and CFBC artificial fine aggregate, and a specimen using CFBC artificial fine aggregate without modified CaO expansion admixture were evaluated respectively. As a result of evaluation of drying shrinkage performance at 20th day of age, the dry shrinkage performance of the specimen using modified CaO expansion admixture was found to be the highest at $250{\times}10^{-6}$. On the other hand, the specimen containing the modified CaO expansion admixture with CFBC artificial aggregate exhibited a shrinkage of $410{\times}10^{-6}$, and the drying shrinkage of specimen using natural fine aggregate without expansion admixture was $450{\times}10^{-6}$. When the modified CaO expansion material was used, and exhibited performance equal to or higher than that of the shrinkage-drying property.

  • The Rapid Expansion of Supercritical fluid Solutions (RESS) process was applied to particles coating. Experiments were conducted in a fluidized bed with an internal nozzle in the center of the reaction tube. Pure glass beads (500~590$\mu$m, 74~149$\mu$m) and glass beads covered with brilliant blue were used as the core particles. Supercritical $CO_2$ solutions of paraffin were expanded through the nozzle into the bed that was fluidized by air. The precipitate coating materials on core surface was analyzed by using SEM, FT-IR. The releasing behavior of brilliant blue was inspected by atomic absorbance spectrophotometer. The release behavior of coated particles superior to noncoated particles.
