The purpose of this study is to clarify the adap-tation of traditional beauty of dress in Baek Eui for the establishment of tradition of dress culture. Especially, the color of the traditional dress rep-resent a symbol which is connedted with the na-tional character and the evvironment. But it is hard to examine closely because color preference are transformend with the times. This study is framed within the limits of the next themes : the origin, history and meaning of the Baek Eui ; the philosophical theory of cosmic Five Elements and the Prohibition of Baek Eui ; the beauty of Baek Eui. As the national character is indicative of the conservativeness and the purity, Koreans have kept up wearing Baek Eui spite of the occasional prohibition. Since the color of the dress represen-tatived the signs of the social class and the power, over the eighty persent of the common people put on the Beak Eui : ramie and flax fabrics that has it's own color in Chosun-Dynasty. I think that the use of natural color harmony is prominent and the beauty of Baek Eui is the naturality and the non-artificiality. The meaning of the symbol on the Korean Beak Eui is the divinity, the holiness, the purity, the cleanliness, the modesty, the frugality, the integ-rity, the constancy, the elegance, the simplicity.

This treatise is designed to discover the principle of timeless continuity of Korean design from the perspective of modem accomodation of formative beauty of tractional dress style with the focus on measurement analysis of dress from visual perspective. For this purpose in this research the following subjects are studied with concentration: the 1st phase debate on the dress style appearing in the Kokuryo murals and genre painting during the later period of Chosun Dynasty regarding the formative beauty of dress style. 2nd phase debate on the points of changes and transformations during given age and given principle of Korean designs being maintained across the span of time in the context of madern accomodation of such traditional dress. From historical perspective characteristics of each given age and principles of visual formative principles appear in various ways variety attributable to mutually interactive principles according to historical background and culture. For this reason it can be said that they are determined by different paradigm or forms from characteristics of Korean style design in the present and future and those for traditional forms of dress in the past.

Due to its vast lands and rich underground resources, Mongolia is a country with high growth potential, even though it is currently in the early stage of economic development. In Mongolia, the Korean wave (Hallyu) has increased interests in Korea, especially in Korean fashion. This study analyzed lifestyles and examined the characteristics of clothing purchase behavior of Mongolian women in order to deepen the understanding of Mongolians' lifestyle and clothing purchase behavior and provide information for successful marketing strategies. The results based on 293 questionnaires showed that lifestyles consisted of six factors (socially active, beauty seeking, individualistic, simple comfort seeking, sensitive to others' perception, information focused) and four groups (socially oriented, individualistic, beauty seeking, and information seeking) were identified. Among the lifestyle groups, socially active group showed clear differences from other groups and there was no significant difference in demographic characteristics according to the lifestyle groups.

There are increasing a foreign visitors since 88 Seoul Olympic game. Uniform is getting increased importance as one of the symbols which represent the characteristic of restaurant as well as gloves good impression to the customers and foreign tourist. This study aims at developing uniform packages (including table cloth, mat, napkin, end so on) that satisfy the customers' need and let foreign visitors recognize the outstanding beauty of Korean traditional pattern. For uniform design, It was selected a sumacsae of a the lotus flower motif and developed a textile pattern design by using CAD system. And then the developed textile design was printed a polyster100% fabric by using the digital textile printing system. Uniform packages designs were developed applying traditional sumacsae motif in order to capture a modern stance of beauty under using blue and pink color and same concept of modern image.

This study suggests designs for fashion-cultural products that can communicate the uniqueness of Korean traditional culture. To this end, motives and printing patterns were created based on the formative beauty of traditional sewing crafts. A literature review was completed to identify characteristics of Korean traditional sewing, and the motives were developed through Adobe Illustrator CS4 and Adobe Photoshop CS4. Those motives were applied to handkerchiefs, neckties, pouches, and handbags. The sewing crafts used in this study included thimbles, bobbins, and chumoni (a Korean traditional pouch). The motives were produced in a manner that best exemplified the unique formative beauty of the sewing crafts while also presenting modern images of the crafts. The motives from thimbles reflected the lateral side of their originals, while the motives from bobbins adopted fan- or rectangular-shaped bobbins. The motives from chumoni were based on Duruchumoni and Guichumoni. A total of 12 motives were developed, and a total of 36 textile designs were suggested based on those motives. A total of 42 designs for fashion-cultural products, including handkerchiefs, neckties, pouches and handbags, were developed. Among them, motives applied to handkerchiefs were expanded to apply to scarfs, as well.

The knots have been used practically and functionally in close relation to people's daily life, and it shows the beauty of its ornamental purpose. This study was to discover a new formativeness, such as the natural and symbolic beauty of knots, based on the interpretation of knots' basic image, recreating Korean beauty and characteristics within a modern sense. A bowknot is one of the beautiful Korean traditional knots and it is considered as a symbol of transformation. In this study, the formativeness of bowknots was shown and used, resulting in developing textile patterns that symbolize peace, love, joy, and hope. It was believed that the symbolism of bowknots could be suitable for a pattern of kindergarten uniforms which the children would experience for the first time. Considering the functional characteristics without discomfort while the children participate in various activities and movements, we made two pairs of boys' uniforms and two for girls.

In this study, we will analyze the artistic character of Jogakbo as a element of fashion art design. Korean traditional Jogakbo is a common homemade item made from clothing remnants and is a part of the culture of women�s quarters. Currently, Jogakbo is higly regarded for its artistic value and it finds a variety of uses in fashion. In particular, it is striking how its modern-style geometric lines and color composition are congruous with abstract art. In applying Jogakbo to fashion art design, we study the artistic expression of Jogakbo in 4 aspects; namely, line, color, material, and technique; and analyze the 4 artistic characteristics; beauty of naivety, simplicity, moderation and freedom. 8 dresses designed based on these 4 characteristics are presented as examples.

An Asian Ethnic Look is based on its own values of traditional costumes and the fashion accessories that are influenced by its own genre within their own culture. In this thesis, it contemplates the study of visual values and the traditional influences of the Modern Western Designers and Asian Designers' definitions and the considerations of an Ethnic look in the countries like Middle East, India, Korea, China and Japan. The standard procedure to understand their Visual and Aesthetic values is acknowledgement of body. From that foundation, an Asian Ethnic Look and its Visual and Aesthetic Values were researched through out the Middle East Asian Look, Indian Look, Korean Look, Chinese Look and Japanese Look which effective after 1990's. The studies are further researched to the comparisons and interpretations of the Western Designers and the Asian Designers, and the definitions of an Asian Ethnic Look and its Visual and Aesthetic Values in between those. According to each country's religious attitudes, a beauty of concealment and a beauty of negative space appeal which emphasize an ethics on humanity and non-materialistic attitudes. It takes meanings of a phenomenon of nature's worship, Yin-Yang five elements of principles, oneness of body-mind and oneness of universe-mankind. Following the studies of Visual and Aesthetic Values of an Asian Ethnic Look, in 1990's Western Designers' interpretations were prominent use of the Asian Traditional Motif3. However, the interpretations of the Asian Designers were based on their own traditional ethics and they minimized decorative elements but enhanced naturalism, feminism, calm and sober designs compare to the past. The Asian Designers' interpretations of their visual values were based on their Asian mentality, beauty and its straightforward genuine perspective and respects of their own culture.

This study as one of a series of systematic studies about dancing costumes will compare the costumes of the middle age with their normal style of dress. In brief, this study wants people to know about middle a9e dancing costumes and understand the culture in the middle ages. It was found that people's everyday clothes in the middle age such as Surcot. Surcot-ouvert, Pourpoint, Houppelande were used as dancing costumes. They were, however. changed from the public's clothes which were tight and long. Rather than wearing costume over others. dancers wore costumes which had slits on skirt or sleeves to increase motion. With the Wild Man of the Wood's which only nobles used for their dancing costumes. costumers highlighted the beauty of human body There were various costume materials used in the middle ages like silk. cotton fabrics, linen or brocade. These materials were used for Surcot and Pourpoint as dancing costumes. The naturalness of nature or geometric patterns also was expressed on the costumes. Further about those patterns, because the development of stained glass, vivid colors were used especially red, light green, blue etc. As for the hair styles used, dancers let their hair down and put a jeweled crown over their hair. In summation. dancers wore the same clothes that normal People did, but the costumes were different depending on social status and gender. The costumes of ordinary people's were based upon ordinary clothes that moved and emphasized the dynamic motion. On the other side, the court dancers' costumes were very fancy. symbolizing a measurement of nobles' from wealth and authority. as well as an expression of a sense of beauty, The main features of middle ages follows. : To emphasize vitality, there were long slits on the side of skirt. Hair decorations and jewels are more used than in the ancient age's. To hide a dancer's social status. they could use a mask. Wild Man of the Wood's was used for the body makeup. All these features of the dancing costumes must contribute to the progress of the dance in the middle age's.

Today, we live in the fastly changing society, rapidly developing scientific civilization and repeatly confusing political culture. Therefore, man persuits the emotional rest in "eros" and sympathizes with eroticism. Such an eroticism represents too much in art and costume all over the world. the purpose of this study is to classify the ex-pressive style of eroticism which is the feature of the costume in the first year of 1990's and to analyze its expression meaning. This study will be a basic data of new design development and help predict the costume in the latter half of the yeat. The method of this study was performed by using the literature related to the eroticism and the study of preceeding researchers. To analyze the costume style the its implied meaning being used to express the eroticism of 1990's, the magazines(Elle, Vogue, WWD, Collections etc) and the literatures related to fashion were used. The styles and meaning of eroticism expressed eroticism by using the minimal design which exposes wholly or partly by using a transparent vinyl and a see-through clothing. The sexy style arose from the expression of social rebellion and the exposure of suppressive sex as a psychological repulsion against the older generation. 2) Deshabille style : This style is the conver-sion to the outer garment of an underwear. The excessive exposure which just concerns the inti-mate parts of the body by using the thin cloth or lace for an underwear. This style can be recognized as the beauty destruction and ugly 3) Glamour style : The style is made up of the high-grade cloth such as silk and velvet and expresses the bodily beauty. This style falls into a rebellious culture and comes from the inten-tional expression to escape the modern life which is straight and hard. 4) metallic style : This style uses variously the new material such as vinyl-coating, enamel and represents the eroticism through the original expressions.pressions.
