한국복식(韓國服飾)에 표현(表現)된 흔들림과 떨림의 미(美)

  • This study is focused on the swinging and trembling effect expressed in Korean costume from ancient days to the present. The swinging is a term standing for gentle movements that are created and implied by the long ties, strings, tassels, pendants and hanging ornamentations. These attatched elements of the costume move as the wearer moves. Trembling is a term expressing small vibrating movement which is created by the tiny decorative motifs attatched to Korean costume. This little decorative elements were attatched to the royal crown, earings, necklaces even the sole of the metalic shoes for a change and to draw viewers attention. The Swinging and Trembling have been used mainly to express the decorative desires. The Swinging on shaman costume is a expression of the aesthetics of evil's eye, while the Swinging shown on the costume of a schalor is expressing the beauty of personality and nature. In General during the Choson Period, the Swinging of the tassels, ribbons, string belts is a expression of the beauty of nature. Consequently the Swinging and the Trembling are the typical examples of the "Meot"(멋), Korean traditional aesthetics.

현대패션에 나타난 빈곤미의 조형적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Formative Characteristics of Poor Beauty in Modern Fashion)

  • Modern fashion industry creates complex and multiple fashion by amalgamating and mixing all elements that emerged in fashion without limiting them to a specific genre. The results of study are as follows: First, with regard to the conceptual differences among poor look, anti-fashion, and resistance fashion and the background. second, As aesthetic categories of poor beauty, its image with the feeling of poorness, beggar-likeness, worthlessness, poorness, and uncleanness is divided into the beauty of moderation, deconstruction, unfinished beauty, natural beauty, and ostentatious poor beauty based on the formative characteristics and poor look. Third, Oriental and Western poor images are comparatively analyzed. The poor beauty found in Oriental fashion, which is based on Zen aesthetics, seeks loneliness, poorness, and simplicity as an empty origin and features internal meaning that expresses the purity of poor beauty itself and external form that is visualized through no decoration, no color, and asymmetry in material and composition. The poor beauty in the West features non-form of no shape, asymmetry and disharmony and the characteristic in its contents is "distortion", and the characteristic in its expression features external form of "incorrectness" and internal meaning implying modem humans' frustration, resistance to materialism, and skepticism about mechanicalism.

외국산 화장품 브랜드의 개성 지각이 선호에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Perceived Overseas Cosmetic Brand Personality on the Preference)

  • The purpose of this study examines women in 20s~30s who start applying adult makeup and are sensitive to cosmetics and makeup techniques to understand the influence of overseas cosmetic brands' personality on their preference to provide overseas cosmetic brands with unique personality marketing resources. The following summarize the findings of this study: first, overseas cosmetic brands' personality factors were aesthetics, performance, interest, competency, and boldness. Second, among imported brands, the most preferred brand was Christian Dior, followed by Bobbi Brown, Chanel, SK-II, and Estee Lauder. Third, the subjects preferred Chanel when they perceived its aesthetics, performance, and competency and Christian Dior when they perceived its aesthetics and performance and did not perceive its boldness as much. They preferred Estee Lauder when they perceived its aesthetics and competency and Bobbi Brown when they perceived its aesthetics, performance, and competency and did not perceive its boldness as much. In case of SK-II, they preferred it when they perceived its aesthetics, performance, interest, and competency.

동양 미학적 관점에 의한 한, 일 여성 전통 복식의 미적 특성 고찰 -조선 후기와 에도(강호(江戶))시대 여성복식을 중심으로- (Aesthetic Characteristics of Korean and Japanese Women's Traditional Costumes from the Viewpoint of Oriental Aesthetics -Focusing on the late Joseon Period of Korea and the Edo Period of Japan-)

  • The purpose of this study was to establish the theoretical view for the analysis of the aesthetic characteristics of dress from the viewpoint of oriental aesthetics. Also, this study examined the universality and particularity of aesthetic characteristics in Korean and Japanese women's traditional costumes. To establish the theoretical view for the aesthetic analysis of dress from the viewpoint of oriental aesthetics, this study examined the relationship between the internal spirit of human, culture and the external form of dress. Based on this consideration, the viewpoints for the analysis of dress formation were the 'Form' as the basic structure of the external formation of dress and 'the Ornamentation' as the emphasis of the artistic characteristics of dress. The common world view shared by Korea and Japan holds the thinking system that everything is created from 'not to bee(無)' to 'being(有)'. This view emphasizes the totality and circulation of energy called 'Ki(氣)'. According to this view, oriental culture has been developed by intuition and pleasure called 'Heung(興)'. Therefore, the form of the oriental culture includes ambiguity and emphasizes the total harmony. These characteristics appeared in dress as the design of ambiguity, asymmetry and concealment. The meaning of the ornamentation in oriental world was the unified harmony of diversity and the colors and patterns of oriental dress were used by the symbolic meaning of Yin-Yang & Wu-Shing (陰陽五行)s principles. On the basis of the world view of the Ki, Korean and Japanese women's traditional costumes commonly shared the aesthetic values of concealment, emptiness, and symbolism. Also, their costumes expressed the difference, especially in the ornamentation. Korean costume expressed the beauty of simplicity and naivety, and Japanese costume expressed the beauty of ornamentation and nonornamentatIon.

A Moralist of Beauty in America: Emerson on the Cultivation of Public Virtue in Liberal Democracy

  • "In the United States, you almost never say that virtue is beautiful," Alexis de Tocqueville reports in Democracy in America. Yet Ralph Waldo Emerson, arguably the most prominent American moralist in the nineteenth century, stands as an exception to Tocqueville's generalization. This article explores Emerson's perspective on beauty in the moral education of democratic citizens. His interest in this aesthetic category partly stemmed from his deep concern about both the moral inaction and interest politics in commercial culture. As a response to the crisis, Emerson conceived ethical beauty as a key promoter of public-minded democratic citizenship as exemplified by the American abolitionists, and his own practice as a poetic moralist further illustrates this belief. Emerson's aesthetic approach to the cultivation of public virtue in liberal democracy offers a meaningful comparison to contemporary neo-Tocquevillian emphasis on the language of interest or duty.

  • The purpose of this project is to greatly elevate the image of a high-technology wireless communication company by improving its office space environment through remodeling techniques. In order to accomplish this goal, the design concept was established in the direction of harmonious beauty with maximized functionality and aesthetics. Specifically, an efficient traffic line was planned in consideration of the connectivity between mutual spaces, and smooth yet strong formal aesthetics was given to such things as planes, frontal surfaces, and ceiling design, so as to do away with the existing authoritarian atmosphere and create an image of a futuristic company.

로만 폴란스키의 <테스>: 육체와 자본의 미학 (Roman Polansky's Tess: Aesthetics of Human Body and Capital)

  • David Harris argues that mass media suppress counter-hegemonic factors in order to reach audience. According to Harris's theory, the success of the film "Tess" depends on its effective adaptation from Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles (1891). Tess (1979), directed by Roman Polansky, casting Nastassia Kinski for Tess, was acclaimed as a professional and commercial success, awarded with various prizes. Hardy's aim at criticizing Victorian English social and moral standard through Tess appears obscure in Polansky's film which focuses on the aesthetics of human body and capital. Polanski's Tess with urban white beauty does not emerge victimized by poverty, which the late twentieth century audience under the capitalist umbrella may abhor. To examine his use of music, sound effect, visual images by means of camera operation—angles, distances, close-ups and frequent movements—light and color, and mythic elements in the film, show Polansky's sharp perception of his contemporary audience's desire and conscientious work upon it.

융합공학기술에 고려된 신학적미학의 관점연구 (A Perspective Study of the Theological Aesthetics considered in Convergency Engineering Technology)

  • 본 논문에서는 신학적미학이 무엇인지 그리고 이 신학적 미학의 기준으로 인간의 가치 기준의 표준이 되는 성경으로부터 근거를 조사한다. 다른 관점에서 동물과 식물의 유일한 설계가 미학이라는 견지에서 살펴보았다. 우리가 고안하고 창조할 수 있는 또다른 다양한 아름다움을 가지는 적용에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 그런데 이러한 설명은 사물을 설계하고 만들기 위해 적용되고 실용가능한 적용 뿐 아니라 아름다움을 위해서도 인지된다. 이런 관점으로부터 우리는 신과 창조세계 그리고 신학적 미학의 관련성을 유추할 수 있다. 우리는 인간이 만든 그리고 만들 융합공학기술과 신학적 미학이라는 함의에 대해 살펴보았다. 왜 융합공학기술에 신학적 미학이라는 도구가 필요한지 그리고 중요한지 라는 문제를 논의하였다. 우리는 이 사회에 보다 건강하고 도덕적이며 윤리적인 융합공학기술을 개발하여, 인류에게 보다 가치있고 건강한 미래의 삶을 제공하기 위해, 신학적 미학이 함의된 기술 진보라는 측면에서 더 많은 논의가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

  • Today aesthetics expression could be a 'Everyday-life Beauty', because today art & design are closely related with a contemporary life. This thesis dealt with a everyday-life and sensitive design which sublimate from everyday-life material to the concept of aesthetics, such a purpose of this thesis establishes a base of everyday-life design through everyday-life aesthetics. This purpose made to pay attention to Japan's aesthetics concept, because Japan has been maintained and developed its own everyday-life aesthetics. Even if Japan doesn't have only everyday-life aesthetics, it is useful that is studies as some kind of a prototype. So this study analyzed about a everyday-life aesthetics and the expression method through the case-study of Japan. According to Yonagi Muneyoshi and Leonard Koren, the Wabi-Sabi has three conceptual characteristics like impermanent, incomplete, and imperfect and six expression characteristics like implication, tranquility, simplicity, coarseness, purity, and association. This study process is as follows. In the first a vocabulary of interior design was derived from three conceptual characteristics and six expression characteristics, and spatial facts was abstracted from it, and then volume, form, and then shape of composition facts of interior space was extracted from it. Finally the expression characteristics of the Wabi-Sabi in interior design was derived from these processes. In conclusion, the expression characteristics of the Wabi-Sabi in interior design is the transitional space through a Shadow, the conversional space through form and material composition, and the copying space through a natural friendship.

  • 환경 미학은 장대한 자연의 미와 도시경관의미 전체영역을 포함하는 것이라고 한다면 도시경관은 '도시의 보기 좋은 경치' 또는 '미관'이라고 정의되고 있다. 그러므로 우리는 도시경관의 새로운 계획 패러다임으로 미의 문제를 상정하고 이를 해결 할 수 있는 방법을 찾아야 한다. 이러한 환경미학이란 도시경관의 새로운 계획을 모색하는 것으로 도시경관의 미적 가치와 내용을 살피고 도시경관의 미적 경험을 설명하기 위한 것으로 미학적 맥락인 심미성의 평가는 도시시설물인 스트리트퍼니처(street furniture)의 조형미인 디자인요소를 추출하는 것으로 도시환경 디자인에 있어 새로운 의미를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
