The developed patterns by direct writing of electron beam are measured by AFM, FESEM and optical profiler of WYKO NT3300. From different measurement methods, the measured linewidths of the patterns are shown a little bit wider than designed pattern size due to electrons scattering effect during direct writing of electron beam. The optimized conditions of these experiments are suggested and explained for the forming of structures below 0.1 ㎛ dimension size. Because of electron scattering effects from the different under layers such as Si, Si$_3$N$_4$ and aluminum, the developed pattern size is also influenced by the accelerated energy of electrons, dose, resist and soft and hard bake conditions in PMMA. The distributions of electron beam and calculations of backscattering coefficient are demonstrated by Monte Carlo simulation. From the measured results, the developed linewidth of PMMA/Al /silicon is shown a little bit wider than that of PMMA/Si$_3$N$_4$/silicon structure due to the backscattering effects.
A sonar dome is basically designed and installed to protect sonar array from shocks, sea wave slaps and floating matters. The acoustic wave passing through sonar dome, however, can be distorted in magnitude and phase. This paper presents a numerical method for predicting the steady-state sound pressure on the surface of transducer array in the sonar dome and typical results of sonar beam pattern affected by sonar dome. A beam tracing model with phase information and a multi-layered elastic boundary model are involved. A full three-dimensional sonar dome is modeled as a GRP acoustic window, a rubber coated steel baffle and a rubber coated steel hull. A transducer array is modeled as thick steel cylinder. There are some assumptions such as incidence of plane wave, specular reflection on boundary and directionality of transducer element.
This paper describes the optimization of the hexagonal array transducer using finite element method. The transducer consists of the disc type sensors. Three dimensional beam patterns of each element and the array transducer are analysed using the finite element code ATILA. Beam patterns were analyzed for the disc type transducer. To optimize beam patterns of the array transducer, Chebyshev polynomial weight is applied to each element. In case of applying optimized weight, a 30 degree width beam pattern is presented at 10kHz. This paper also includes the effect of rubber filling material instead of using the water inside the transducer array.
Two twin microphones may produce particular patterns of binaural directivity by time delays between the twin microphones. The boundary element method (BEM) was used for the simulation of the sound pressure field around the KEMAR head model in order to quantify the acoustic head effect. The sound pressure onto the microphone was calculated by the BEM to an incident sound pressure. Then a planar directivity pattern was formed by four sound pressure signals from four microphones. The optimal binaural directivity pattern may be achieved by adjusting time delays at each frequency while maintaining the forward beam pattern is relatively bigger than the backward beam pattern. The simulation results were verified by the experimental measurement.

Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) has been used to measure surface deformations of engineering components and materials in industrial areas. ESPI, a non-contact and non-destructive technique, is capable of providing full-field results with high spatial resolution and high speed. One of the important application using electronic speckle pattern interferometry is electronic speckle contouring of a diffused object for 3-D shape analysis and topography measurement. Generally the electronic speckle contouring is suitable for providing measurement range from millimeters to several centimeters. In this study, we introduce the contouring method by modified dual-beam speckle pattern interferometer and the shift of the two illumination beams through optical fiber in order to obtain the contour fringe patterns. We also describe formation process of depth contour fringes and grid contour fringes by shifting direction of the two illumination beams. Before the experiments, we performed the geometric analysis for dual-beam-shifted ESPI contouring, and then, the electronic speckle contouring experiment with various specimens. For quantitative analysis of the contour fringes, we used 4-frame phase shifting method with PZT Finally, good agreement between the geometric analysis and experimetal results is obtained.
An optical method for surface roughness estimation based on statistical analysis of the light intensity of a scattered laser beam pattern. The method is very simple but has a disadvantage that no more information than the averaged roughness is estimated. In this study a new try was conducted to derive more advanced surface information from the details of the light intensity distribution. Some periodic ripples among the light intensity distribution being assumed to relate with scratch left on the machined surface, a corresponding surface profile is estimated from the ripples using FFT and IFFT algorithm. IFFT technique is used to extract some dominant signal components among the intensity distribution. Compared to the measured profiles by a stylus type surf-tester, the profiles obtained through the proposed method are probably acceptable in a sense of the profile shape. Calibration of the amplitude needs more works in the future.
