Recent developments such as concern over global warming, depletion of fossil fuels and increase in energy demands by the increasing world population has eventually lead to mass production of electricity using renewable sources. Ocean contains energy in form of thermal energy and mechanical energy: thermal energy from solar radiation and mechanical energy from the waves and tides. The current paper looks at generating power using waves. The primary objective of the present study is to maximize the primary energy conversion (first stage conversion) of the base model by making some design changes. The model entire consisted of a numerical wave tank and the turbine section. The turbine section had three components; front guide nozzle, augmentation channel and the rear chamber. The augmentation channel further consisted of a front nozzle, rear nozzle and an internal fluid region representing the turbine housing. Different front guide nozzle configuration and rear chamber design were studied. As mentioned, a numerical wave tank was utilized to generate waves of desired properties and later the turbine section was integrated. The waves in the numerical wave tank were generated by a piston type wave maker which was located at the wave tank inlet. The inlet which was modeled as a plate wall which moved sinusoidally with the general function, $x=asin{\omega}t$. In addition to primary energy conversion, observation of flow characteristics, pressure and the velocity in the augmentation channel, rear chamber as well as the front guide nozzle are presented in the paper. The analysis was performed using the commercial code of the ANSYS-CFX. The base model recorded water power of 29.9 W. After making the changes, the best model obtained water power of 37.1 W which represents an increase of approximately 24% in water power and primary energy conversion.
The purpose of this paper is to describe the implementation of monolithically matching circuits, interface circuits, and RF core circuits to the same substrate. We designed and fabricated on-chip 1 to 6 GHz up-conversion and 1 to 8 GHz down-conversion mixers using a 0.8 mm SiGe hetero-junction bipolar transistor (HBT) process technology. To fabricate a SiGe HBT, we used a reduced pressure chemical vapor deposition (RPCVD) system to grow a base epitaxial layer, and we adopted local oxidation of silicon (LOCOS) isolation to separate the device terminals. An up-conversion mixer was implemented on-chip using an intermediate frequency (IF) matching circuit, local oscillator (LO)/radio frequency (RF) wideband matching circuits, LO/IF input balun circuits, and an RF output balun circuit. The measured results of the fabricated up-conversion mixer show a positive power conversion gain from 1 to 6 GHz and a bandwidth of about 4.5 GHz. Also, the down-conversion mixer was implemented on-chip using LO/RF wideband matching circuits, LO/RF input balun circuits, and an IF output balun circuit. The measured results of the fabricated down-conversion mixer show a positive power conversion gain from 1 to 8 GHz and a bandwidth of about 4.5 GHz.
Color conversion layer refers to a layer that converts the blue light emitted from the backlight into the red and green light. Heavy metal-free quantum dots and perovskite nanocrystals have attracted great attention as base materials for color conversion layers due to their outstanding optical characteristics. Here, we review recent advances in the development of color conversion layers based on quantum dots. First, we overview the representative optical characteristics of quantum dots and perovskite nanocrystals, and then introduce printing techniques for color converting layers including photolithography, inkjet printing, and nanoimprinting. Finally, we conclude this review with a brief perspective.
Objectives and methods : This research aims to study about conversion system of channels. In the present study, we investigated the movement and conversion of channels on the base of three step theory(三才論), Yeak(易), Hado.Laksea(河圖洛書) and five elements motion and six kinds of factors(Six-Qi). Results and Conclusions : The organization of meridian is composed of the following three parts: hand and foot, Yin and Yang, and the viscera and bowals. It is play an important role in energy flow and its conversion. The law governing energy conversion is divided into three groups i.e. taiyin-yangming channel, shaoyin-taiyang channel and jueyin-shaoyang channel group. Those are composed of Deadea(對待) of Six-Qi, making the body homeostasis. Taken together, we suggest that the conversion system of meridian is founded on the unity between the human body and nature which provides the medical workers with a necessary method of thinking in treating diseases.
In this paper, a sub-harmonic dual-gate FET mixer for IMT-2000 base-station was designed by using single-gate FET cascode structure and driven by the second order harmonic component of LO signal. The dual-gate FET mixer has the characteristic of high conversion gain and good isolation between ports. Sub-harmonic mixing is frequently used to extend RF bandwidth for fixed LO frequency or to make LO frequency lower. Furthermore, the LO-to-RF isolation characteristic of a sub-harmonic mixer is better than that of a fundamental mixer because the frequency separation between the RE and LO frequency is large. As RF power is -30dBm and LO power is 0dBm, the designed mixer shows the -47.17dBm LO-to-RF leakage power level, 10dB conversion gain, -0.5dBm OIP3, -10.5dBm IIP3 and -1dBm 1dB gain compression point.

In this research, a conversion function and a distortion associated with the conversion function are defined and used to derive a unit power Gompertz distortion. A new family of copulas is built using the global distorted function. Four base copulas, namely Clayton, Gumbel, Frank, and Gaussian, are distorted into the family. Some properties including tail dependence coefficients and tail order are examined. Kendall's tau formula is derived for new copulas when the base copula is Clayton, Gumbel, or Frank. The maximum pseudo-likelihood estimation method is employed, and a simulation study was performed. The log-likelihood and AIC are reported to compare the performance of the fitted copulas. According to the applied data, the results indicate that new distorted copulas with additional parameters improve the fit.
We present a piezoelectric energy harvester with stopper-engaged dynamic magnifier which is capable of significantly increasing the operating bandwidth and the energy (power) harvested from a broad range of low frequency vibrations (<30 Hz). It uses a mass-loaded polymer beam (primary spring-mass system) that works as a dynamic magnifier for another mass-loaded piezoelectric beam (secondary spring-mass system) clamped on primary mass, constituting a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) system. Use of polymer (polycarbonate) as the primary beam allows the harvester not only to respond to low frequency vibrations but also generates high impulsive force while the primary mass engages the base stopper. Upon excitation, the dynamic magnifier causes mechanical impact on the base stopper and transfers a secondary shock (in the form of impulsive force) to the energy harvesting element resulting in an increased strain in it and triggers nonlinear frequency up-conversion mechanism. Therefore, it generates almost four times larger average power and exhibits over 250% wider half-power bandwidth than those of its conventional 2-DOF counterpart (without stopper). Experimental results indicate that the proposed device is highly applicable to vibration energy harvesting in automobiles.
This paper presents a proper condition to achieve above 19 % conversion efficiency using PC1D simulator. Cast poly-Si wafers with resistivity of 1 $\Omega$-cm and thickness of 250 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were used as a starting material. Various efficiency influencing parameters such as rear surface recombination velocity and minority carrier diffusion length in the base region, front surface recombination velocity, junction depth and doping concentration in the Emitter layer, BSF thickness and doping concentration were investigated. Optimized cell parameters were given as rear surface recombination of 1000 cm/s, minority carrier diffusion length in the base region 200 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, front surface recombination velocity 100 cnt/s, sheet resistivity of emitter layer 100 $\Omega$/$\square$, BSF thickness 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, doping concentration 5$\times$10$^{19}$ cm$^3$ . Among the investigated variables, we learn that a diffusion length of base layer acts as a key factor to achieve conversion efficiency higher than 19 %. Further details of simulation parameters and their effects to cell characteristics are discussed in this paper.
