Electrorheology of conducting polyaniline-$BaTiO_3$ composite

  • Organic-inorganic composite of polyaniline and barium titanate (PANI-$BaTiO_3$) was synthesized via an in-situ oxidation polymerization of aniline in the presence of barium titanate ($BaTiO_3$) nanoparticles dispersed in an acidic medium. Barium titanate has large electric resistance and relatively high dielectric constant which is one of the essential properties for its electrorheological (ER) applications. The microstructure and composition of the obtained PANI/$BaTiO_3$ composite were characterized by SEM, FT-IR and XRD. In addition, we also employed a rotational rheometer to investigate the rheological performance of the ER fluids based on both pure PANI particle and PANI/$BaTiO_3$ composite. It was found that the composite materials possess much higher yield stresses than the pristine PANI due to unique dielectric properties of the inorganic $BaTiO_3$ particles. Finally, we also examined dynamic yield stress by analyzing its extrapolated yield stress data as a function of electric field strengths. Using the critical electric field strengths deduced, we further found that the universal yield stress equation collapses their data onto a single curve.

  • The demand for sub-micrometer or nanometer functional ceramic powders with a better suspension behavior in aqueous media in increasing. Redispersible barium titanate (BT) nanocrystals, green light emitting Mn2+ doped Zn$_2$SiO$_4$ and ZnS nanoparticle phosphors were synthesized by a hydrothermal method or chemical precipitation with surface modification. The nanoparticle redispersibility for BT was achieved by using a polymeric surfactant. X-ray diffraction(XRD) results indicated that the BT particles are of cubic phase with 80 nm in size. XRD results of zinc silicate phosphor indicate that seeds play an important role in enhancing the nucleation and crystallization of Zn$_2$SiO$_4$ crystals in a hydrothermal condition. This paper describes and discuss the methods of surface modification, and the resulting related properties for BT, zinc silicate and zinc sulfide.

$BaSO_4$ Mixed CMC-Na 조영제의 특성과 W/V%농도 변화에 따른 경구 소장조영 검사법의 유용성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Efficacy Of Small Examination According to The W/V% Barium Suspension Mixed With Sodium-Carboxy Methyl Cellulose)

  • Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulse(이하 SCMC)와 $BaSO_4$의 특성분석을 통하여, 소장조영 검사에 효과적인 조영제의 W/V% 농도와 점도를 알아보고자 하였으며 이를 통한 소장질환의 미세한 병변 진단에 대한 효율성을 높이고자 실험하였다. 그 결과 100 KVp 고압촬영 방식에서 살펴 볼 때, 높은 투과율로 검사의 효율성이 증대되었다. 압박 촬영과 이중조영 촬영을 시행함에 있어, High Density바륨 사용으로 인한 광학 농도의 차이를 극복함으로서 High Contrast 영상을 얻을 수 있다. CMC-Na의 평균농도 0.625 W/V%으로 선예한 이미지를 얻을 수 있었으며, 적정한 점막 코팅과 검사시간도 단축시킬 수 있다. 결론적으로, F그룹 방식의 CMC-Na을 혼합한 황산바륨 조영제를 조제하여 사용해본 결과, 경구소장조영 검사에 대한 모든 조건에 만족할 만한 것으로 나타났다.

비수계 테잎성형공정의 유기공정변수의 변화에 따른 티탄산바륨-붕규산염유리계 현탁액의 분산안정성 (Effect of Organic Processing Parameters in Non-aqueous Tape-casting on Dispersion Stability of Barium Titanate-Borosilicate Glass Based Suspensions)

  • The effect of organic processing parameters on the dispersion stability of the BaTiO$_3$-based dielectric particles and borosilicate glass particulate suspensions was investigated in a system where organic solvents, dispersant, binder and modifier were used as processing additives in a low temperature cofired ceramic fabrication processes. Two- and three-component organic solvents were used to disperse ceramic particles and it was found the better stability in the particulate suspension prepared in a bi-solvent, which was consists of toluene and ethanol in a non-azeotropic composition. The addition amount of organic additives had a great impact on dispersion in the present investigation. The flow curves of the suspensions prepared with binder and modifier were fitted according to the power-law equation, which indicates that the internal structure of the suspension could be disturbed under the applied shear stress. Finally, the LTCC green tapes were successfully tape-cast based upon the optimum formulation of LTCC suspension and its microstructure was compared with that of the hard-agglomerates.

우측 하행 대동맥을 동반한 중복 대동맥궁 - 1례 수술 치험 - (Double Aortic Arch with Right Sided Descending Aorta - Report of 1 case -)

  • The double aortic arch is the commonest anomaly among the vascular rings are relatively rare congenital vascular anomalies. This anomaly is malformation of the aortic arch system may, by compression of the trachea and esophagus, cause respiratory distress and dysphagia. We experienced one case of double aortic arch with right sided descending aorta with predominant right anterior arch treated surgically at Kyung Hee University Medical Center. 1-year-old male patient with acute airway obstruction due to combination of double aortic arch and right descending aorta. The diagnosis was made by simple X-ray & confirmed by barium esophagogram & aortogram. The operative approach was through left thoracotomy & underwent division of the left aortic arch & division of ligamentum arteriosum & suspension of divided proximal end of anterior arch to anterior thoracic wall. The postoperative courses was uneventful and doing well on the 3 years.

전산화단층촬영 소장조영술을 위한 희석된 폴리에틸렌 글리콜과 저밀도(0.1% w/v) 바륨 현탁액의 유용성 비교 (Comparison of the Efficacy of Diluted Polyethylene Glycol and Low-Density (0.1% w/v) Barium Sulfate Suspension for CT Enterography)

  • 목적 전산화단층촬영 소장조영술 준비를 위해서 사용된 중성 경구 조영제인 희석된 폴리에틸렌 글리콜 용액과 저밀도(0.1% w/v) 바륨 현탁액 사이의 소장 팽창과 부작용을 비교하였다. 대상과 방법 전산화단층촬영 소장조영술을 시행 받은 총 173명의 환자가 연구에 포함되었다. 50명의 환자는 바륨 현탁액을, 123명의 환자는 희석된 등삼투압의 폴리에틸렌 글리콜 용액을 사용하였다. 동일한 양인 1L를 투여하였다. 두 명의 독립된 검토자가 공장과 회장에서 5점 척도로 소장 팽창을 평가하였다. 두 그룹 간의 부작용 비교를 위해서 경구 조영제 투입 후 환자들이 구역, 구토, 설사 및 복통을 호소하는지 여부에 대하여 조사하였다. 결과 회장과 공장에서, 희석된 폴리에틸렌 글리콜 용액은 두 검토자 모두에서 바륨 현탁액과 차이가 없었다(회장: 검토자 1, 중앙값, 4; 4, 사분위수 범위, 3-4; 3-4, p = 0.997; 검토자 2, 중앙값, 4; 4, 사분위수 범위, 3.3-4.0; 3-4, p = 0.064, 공장: 검토자 1, 중앙값, 2; 2, 사분위수 범위, 2-3; 2-3, p = 0.560; 검토자 2, 중앙값, 3; 2, 사분위수 범위, 2-3; 2-3, p = 0.192). 모든 환자에서 두 가지 경구 조영제 투여 후 즉각적인 부작용을 호소하지 않았다. 결론 희석된 폴리에틸렌 글리콜 용액은 바륨 현탁액과 비교하여 소장 팽창에 차이가 없고, 검사 직후 부작용이 없으므로, 유용한 대체제가 될 수 있다.

Small Intestinal Transit Does Not Adequately Represent Postoperative Paralytic Ileus in Rats

  • Small intestinal transit (SIT) has often been regarded as an index of pathophysiological state of postoperative ileus (PI) in rats. The reliability of SIT as an index of PI was examined in the present study. PI was induced via abdominal surgery (i.e., laparotomy with evisceration and manipulation) in rats. For one group of PI-induced rats, SIT of a charcoal test meal was measured. When necessary, the physical state (i.e., severity and site of distension) of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract in each rat was visually examined. For another group of PI-induced rats, abdominal X-ray radiographs were obtained after introducing the barium sulfate suspension. The abdomen was then opened and the physical state of the GI tract was visually examined. The SIT was decreased in most of the PI-induced rats, and the GI distension was observed, with substantial intersubject variations, in all of the PI-induced rats. However, no linear relationship was evident between the SIT and the severity of GI distension (e.g., at 20 h after PI induction). Instead, the severity and site of GI distension could be monitored by the X-ray radiology. Therefore, the use of SIT as an index of PI should be substantially limited.

인쇄회로기판 용 Epoxy/BaTiO$_3$내장형 커패시터 필름에 관한 연구 (Study on the Epoxy/BaTiO$_3$Embedded Capacitor Films for PWB Applications)

  • 경화 전 상온 보관성이 우수하며 넓은 면적에 균일한 두께와 균일한 유전특성의 커패시터를 쉽게 형성할 수 있는 epoxy/$BaTiO_3$composite커패시터 필름을 제조하였다. 이 필름은 필름 형성특성과 가공성, 그리고 상온 보관성이 우수한 에폭시계 이방성 전도 필름(Anisotropic Conductive Film: ACF)용으로 개발된 레진을 기본으로 하고, 유전상수를 높이기 위한 충진제로 2종류의 $BaTiO_3$분말을 사용하였다. X선 회절을 통하여 두 분말의 결정구조와 이에 따른 유전상수의 변화를 살펴보았으며, 점포 측정을 통해 분산제의 양을 정하였다. 필름의 경화온도와 적정한 경화제의 양을 결정해주기 위해 differential scanning calorimeter (DSC)와 커패시터의 특성 분석을 통해 경화제 양에 따른 필름 및 커패시터 특성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 이 필름을 이용하여 두께 7 $\mu\textrm{m}$에서 10 nF/$\textrm{cm}^2$ (이때의 유전상수는 80)의 높은 전기용량을 가진 우수한 커패시터를 성공적으로 제작하였다.

Comparisons between the KKU-Model and Conventional Rectal Tubes as Markers for Checking Rectal Doses during Intracavitary Brachytherapy of Cervical Cancer

  • Background: To compare the KKU-model rectal tube (KKU-tube) and the conventional rectal tube (CRT) for checking rectal doses during high-dose-rate intracavitary brachytherapy (HDR-ICBT) of cervical cancer. Materials and Methods: Between February 2010 and January 2011, thirty -two patients with cervical cancer were enrolled and treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT). The KKU-tube and CRT were applied intrarectally in the same patients at alternate sessions as references for calculation of rectal doses during ICBT. The gold standard references of rectum anatomical markers which are most proximal to radiation sources were anterior rectal walls (ARW) adjacent to the uterine cervix demonstrated by barium sulfate suspension enema. The calculated rectal doses derived from actual anterior rectal walls, CRT and the anterior surfaces of the KKU-tubes were compared by using the paired t-test. The pain caused by insertion of each type of rectal tube was assessed by the visual analogue scale (VAS). Results: The mean dose of CRT was lower than the mean dose of ARW ($Dmean_0-Dmean_1$) by $80.55{\pm}47.33cGy$ (p-value <0.05). The mean dose of the KKU-tube was lower than the mean dose of ARW ($Dmean_0-Dmean_2$) by $30.82{\pm}24.20cGy$ (p-value <0.05). The mean dose difference [($Dmean_0-Dmean_1$)-($Dmean_0-Dmean_2$)] was $49.72{\pm}51.60cGy$, which was statistically significant between 42.32 cGy -57.13 cGy with the t-value of 13.24 (p-value <0.05). The maximum rectal dose by using CRT was higher than the KKU-tube as much as 75.26 cGy and statistically significant with the t-score of 7.55 (p-value <0.05). The mean doses at the anterior rectal wall while using the CRTs and the KKU-tubes were not significantly different (p-value=0.09). The mean pain score during insertion of the CRT was significantly higher than the KKU-tube by a t-score of 6.15 (p-value <0.05) Conclusions: The KKU-model rectal tube was found to be an easily producible, applicable and reliable instrument as a reference for evaluating the rectal dose during ICBT of cervical cancer without negative effects on the patients.
