This paper presents an analysis of stochastic eigenvalue problem of plane bar structures. Particular attention is paid to the effect of spatial variations of the flexural properties of the structure on the first four eigenvalues. The problem of spatial variations of the structure properties and their effect on the first four eigenvalues is analyzed in detail. The stochastic eigenvalue problem was solved independently by stochastic finite element method (stochastic FEM) and Monte Carlo techniques. It was revealed that the spatial variations of the structural parameters along the structure may substantially affect the eigenvalues with quite wide gap between the two extreme cases of zero- and full-correlation. This is particularly evident for the multi-segment structures for which technology may dictate natural bounds of zero- and full-correlation cases.
This paper deals with investigating experimentally the effects of PWHT on the weld quality such as strength, toughness, hardness and micro-structure of the welded joints in friction welding of torsion bar material SUP9A bar to bar. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) It was certified that the condition of the post-weld heat treatment(PWHT) for the friction welded joints was very satisfactory because both strength and toughness of the joints were improved as almost same as those of the base metal or better by the PWHT. 2) The peak of hardness distribution of the friction welded joints can be eliminated by PWHT, resulting in being almost equalized at the weld interface, the HAZ(heat affected zone) and the base metal. 3) The micro-structure of the base meta., HAZ and weld interface(WI) of friction welded joints welded at the optimum welding condition consists of the same sorbite structure obtained by PWHT and fined sorbite at WI, resulting in increasing toughness as well as strength, and no micro structural defect has been found at the friction welded zone.

In this paper, we proposed fence electrode structures. The experimental structures change cross-bar length as 145, 105, 65 and $30{\mu}m$ to improve the electro-optical characteristics. The proposed structures improve the addressing time and luminous efficacy compared with the T145 structure which has the cross-bar length of $145{\mu}m$ as the reference. Especially, in the case of the T30 structure with cross-bar length of $30{\mu}m$, it gains lower power consumption by 34%, and higher luminous efficacy by 20% than those of the reference structure.

In the design of passive and active boring bars, the structural dimensions and shape of the vibration control boring bar are modified depending on the diameter and depth of the workpiece, which changes the dynamic behavior. Thus, the natural frequency, effective mass, and stiffness for the main structure of a tube-type boring bar need to be reset for each vibration control case. However, commercial finite element method (FEM) software and experimental modal analysis are mostly used at present despite being too time-consuming. To overcome the weaknesses of the two methods currently used for vibration control, we realized a graphical user interface (GUI) program for the modal analysis of a modified tube-type damping structure. The analysis results with the GUI program were compared to those with commercial FEM software in order to confirm the effectiveness of the former.
Characterizations of $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebra of type (${\in}$, ${\in}{\vee}q$) are provided. The notion of $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebras of type ($\bar{\in}$, $\bar{\in}{\vee}\bar{q}$) is introduced, and its characterizations are discussed. Conditions for an $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebra of type (${\in}$, ${\in}{\vee}q$) (resp. ($\bar{\in}$, $\bar{\in}{\vee}\bar{q}$) to be an $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebra of type (${\in}$, ${\in}$) are considered.
Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) modeling is highly effective to reveal deformations, fatigue failures, and stresses on a solid domain caused by the fluid flow. Mechanical properties of the solid structures and the thermophysical properties of fluids can change under different operating conditions. In this study, we investigated the interaction of [45/-45]2 wounded composite tubes with the fluid flows suddenly pressurized to 5 Bar, 10 Bar, and 15 Bar at the ambient temperatures of 24℃, 66℃, and 82℃, respectively. Numerical analyzes were performed under each temperature and pressure condition and the results were compared depending on the time in a period and along the length of the tube. The main purpose of this study is to present the effects of the variations in fluid characteristics by temperature and pressure on the structural response. The variation of the thermophysical properties of the fluid directly affects the deformation and stress in the material due to the Wall Shear Stress (WSS) generated by the fluid flow. The increase or decrease in WSS directly affected the deformations. Results show that the increase in deformation is more than 50% between 5 Bar and 10 Bar for the same operating condition and it is more than 100% between 5 Bar and 15 Bar by the increase in pressure, as expected in terms of the solid mechanics. In the case of the increase in the temperature of fluid and ambient, the WSS and Von Mises stress decrease while the slight increases of deformations take place on the tube. On the other hand, two-way FSI modeling is needed to observe the effects of hydraulic shock and developing flow on the structural response of composite tubes.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the magnitude and distribution of stress using a photoelastic model from a unilateral distal extention removable partial dentures with five kinds of the direct retainers, that is, the bilaterally designed bar clasp of the cross-arch lingual bar and the unilaterally designed bar clasp, circumferential clasp, mini-Dalbo attachment, and telescope retainer. A photoelastic model for mandible was made of the epoxy resin(PL-1) and hardner (PLH-1) with the acrylic resin teeth used and was coated with plastic cement-1 at the lingual surface of the model, and then five kinds of removable partial dentures were set, A unilateral vertical load of about 16Kg was applied on the first molar and the stress pattern of the photoelastic model under each condition was analyzed by the reflective circular polariscope. The following results were obtained: 1. The conventional removable partial denture with the bilaterally cross arch lingual bar produced the most favorable stress distribution on the residual ridge and supporting structure of abutment teeth than the unilaterally designed removable partial dentures. 2. The unilaterally designed removable partial denture with the bar clasp produced the stress distribution on the residual ridge, except sligtly higher stress concentration on the supporting structure of the abutment teeth, similar to the conventional removable partial denture with the bilaterally designed cross arch lingual bar. 3. On the unilaterally designed removable partial dentures, the bar clasp produced greater stress distribution on the residual ridge and supporting structure of the abutment teeth than the circumferential clasp. 4. On the unilaterally designed removable partial dentures, the mimi-Dalbo attachment produced relatively higher stress concentration on the residual ridge, but produced lesser stress concentration on the supporting structure of the abutment teeth than the other direct retainers. 5. On the unilaterally designed removable partial dentures, the telescope retainer produced uniform stress distribution on the residual ridge, but produced higher stress concentration at the root apex of the terminal abutment tooth than the other direct retainers. 6. On the unilaterally designed removable partial dentures the circumferential clasp and telescope retainer produced slightly higher stress concentration on the residual ridge and supporting structure of the abutment teeth than the bar clasp and mini- Dalbo attachment.
Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bars have now been widely adopted as an alternative to traditional steel reinforcements in infrastructure and civil industries worldwide due variety of merits. This paper presents a numerical methodology to investigate FRP bar-reinforced beam-column joint behavior under quasi-static loading. The proposed numerical model is validated with test results considering load-deflection behavior, damage pattern at beam-column joint, and strain variation in reinforcements, wherein the results are in agreement. The numerical model is subsequently employed for parametric investigation to enhance the end-span beam-column joint performance using different joint reinforcement systems. To reduce the manufacturing issue of bend in the FRP bar, the headed FRP bar is employed in a beam-column joint, and performance was investigated at different column axial loads. Headed bar-reinforced beam-column joints show better performance as compared to beam-column joints having an L-bar in terms of concrete damage, load-carrying capacity, and joint shear strength. The applicability and efficiency of FRP bars at different story heights have also been investigated with varying column axial loads.
