The personal workspace consists of user- specified computing environment such as user profile, applications and their configurations, and user data. Mobile computing devices (i.e., cellular phones, PDAs, laptop computers, and Ultra Mobile PC) are getting smaller and lighter to provide personal work-space ubiquitously. However, various personal work-space mobility solutions (c.f. VMWare Pocket ACE[1], Mojopac[2], u-PC[3], etc.) are appeared with the advance of virtualization technology and portable storage technology. The personal workspace can be loaded at public PC using above solutions. Especially, we proposed a framework called ubiquitous personal computing environment (u-PC) that supports mobility of personal workspace based on wireless iSCSI network storage in our previous work. However, previous u-PC could support limited applications, because it uses IRP (I/O Request Packet) forwarding technique at filter driver level on Windows operating system. In this paper, we implement OS-level virtualization technology using system call hooking on Windows operating system. It supports personal workspace mobility and covers previous u-PC limitation. Also, it overcomes personal workspace loading overhead that is limitation of other solutions (i.e., VMWare Pocket ACE, Mojopac, etc). We implement a prototype consisting of Windows XP-based host PC and Linux-based mobile device connected via WiNET protocol of UWB. We leverage several use~case models of our framework for proving its usability.
Objectives Sensory gating dysfunctions in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have been investigated through two similar methods ; P50 suppression and prepulse inhibition paradigms. However, recent studies have demonstrated that the two measures are not correlated but rather constitute as distinct neural processes. Recent studies adopting spectral frequency analysis suggest that P50 suppression reflects the interaction between gamma and other frequency bands. The aim of the present study is to investigate which frequency component shows more significant interaction with gamma band. Methods A total of 108 mood disorder patients and 36 normal subjects were included in the study. The P50 responses to conditioning and test stimuli with an intra-pair interval of 500 msec were measured in the study population. According to P50 ratio (amplitude to the test stimulus/amplitude to the conditioning stimulus), the subjects with P50 ratio less than 0.2 were defined as suppressed group (SG) ; non-suppressed group (NSG) consisted of P50 ratio more than 0.8. Thirty-five and 25 subjects were included in SG and NSG, respectively. Point-to-point correlation coefficients (PPCCs) of both groups were calculated between two time-windows : the first window (S1) was defined as the time-window of one hundred millisecond after the conditioning auditory stimulus and the second window (S2) was defined as the time-window of 100 msec after the test auditory stimulus. Spectral frequency analysis was performed to investigate which frequency band results in the difference of PPCC between SG and NSG. Results Significant reduction of PPCC between S1 and S2 was observed in the SG (Pearson's r = 0.24), compared to PPCC of the NSG (r = 0.58, p < 0.05). In spectral frequency analysis, gamma band showed "phase-reset" and similar responses after the two auditory stimuli in suppressed and non-suppressed group. However in the case of alpha band, comparison showed significantly low PPCC in SG (r = -0.14) compared to NSG (r = 0.36, p < 0.05). This may be reflecting "phase-out" of alpha band against gamma band at approximately 50 msecs after the test stimulus in the SG. Conclusions Our study suggests that normal P50 suppression is caused by phase-out of alpha band against gamma band after the second auditory stimulus. Thus it is demonstrated that normal sensory gating process is constituted with attenuated alpha power, superimposed on consistent gamma response. Implications of preserved gamma and decreased alpha band in sensory gating function are discussed.

Leakage is an important factor to be considered for the management of underground water supply pipelines in a smart water grid system, especially if the pipelines are aged and buried under the pavement or various structures of a highly populated city. Because the exact detection of the location of such leaks in pipelines is essential for their efficient operation, a new methodology for leak location detection based on frequency band variation, windowing filters, and probability is proposed in this paper. Because the exact detection of the leak location depends on the precision of estimation of time delay between sensor signals due to leak noise, some window functions that offer weightings at significant frequencies are applied for calculating the improved cross-correlation function. Experimental results obtained by applying this methodology to an actual buried water supply pipeline, ~ 253.9 m long and made of cast iron, revealed that the approach of frequency band variation with those windows and probability offers better performance for leak location detection.
In this paper, we apply the NR (Noise Rating) to the evaluation of the residual noise of the window type ANC (Active Noise Control) and study the active noise controller for minimizing the NR value in rooms. We proposed a shape of a noise shaping filter of the Filtered-E LMS (Least Mean Square) algorithm that reduces the NR value within the effective operating frequency band of the ANC. The usefulness of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation and showed that the NR value of the residual noise is lower than the filters used in the conventional psychoacoustic ANC.
Study was made on the spectral characteristics of rock samples including bentonites collected from the northern Ulsan area. The geology of the area consists mainly of sediments of the Kyongsang Series and Bulguksa granite, the Tertiary volcanics, andesites and tuffs. Relative reflectances of meshed samples(2.5~10mm) to BaSO$_4$ are measured at 6 Landsat TM spectral windows (excluding the thermal band) with HHRR, and their reflection charactristics were analysed. In addition, three different data selection schemes including the Eulidean distance, multiple regression, and PCA weight methods were applied to the 30 TM ratio channels, derived from the above 6 bands. The selected data sets were subject to two unsupervised classification techniques(FA and ISODATA) in order to compare the effectiveness for classification of particularly bentonite from others. As a result, in ISODATA analysis the multiple regression model shows the best, followed by the Euliean distances one. The PCA weight model seems to show some confusion. In FA, though difficult for quantitative analysis, the best still seems to be the regression model. Among ratio bands, rations of band 7 or 5 against other bands represent the best contribution in classification of bentonites from others.

The aim of this study is to analyze the sound insulation performance of windows depending on the sound source types and to propose the noise control method in the apartment house. The regions where apartment houses are constructed are varied in the dominant noise sources such as aircraft noise, railway noise and road traffic noise. For the experiment, nine noise sources including pink noise were selected and recorded, which was used in the experiment by reproducing. As a result of this study, the sound insulation performance of window was found that when the frequency contents of the noise were high level in all frequency bands the difference of sound insulation performance was negligible, but when the frequency contents were low level at particular frequency band the difference of sound insulation performance was shown very differently.

In this paper, we propose to extend the TSS-LS (Two-Step Search scheme with Linear search based Second step) scheme which was already proposed by the authors for coherent UWB (Ultra Wide Band) systems, to rapid and reliable acquisition of noncoherent UWB systems in multipath channels. The proposed noncoherent TSS-LS employing simple energy window banks utilizes two different thresholds and search windows to achieve fast acquisition. Furthermore, the linear search is adopted for the second step in the proposed scheme to correctly find the starting point in the range of effective delay spread of the multipath channels, and to obtain reliable BER (Bit Error Rate) performance of the noncoherent UWB systems. Simulation results show that the proposed TSS-LS can achieve significant reduction of the required mean acquisition time as compared to general search schemes. In addition, the proposed scheme achieves quite good BER performance, which is favorably comparable to the case of ideal perfect timing.

Simple practical design method is proposed for the waffle-iron waveguide filter. The design procedure comprises two steps. The first step is to calculate the K-inverter based on the transformed ABCD parameter from the S parameter for the single window of waffle-iron structure by use of EM S/W tool. The second step is to optimize the size of the windows such that the calculated K inverters may be in accord with the distributed constant prototype filter. In order to validate the design method, a waffle-iron filter for satellite communications over the Ka band is designed and fabricated. The measured results are in good agreement with the calculated ones.

After the IMF jurisdiction period, the Korean economy experienced a venture boom. Korean venture enterprises had been recognized that high profitable and high technology capacity based. These ventures also have contributed to national added value tolerably. In particular, Korean information technology (IT) venture companies got away the order of economy concentrated big companies, which were taken the opportunity of new economy to make suggestion of the future courses and to open an e-Korea era. However, IT ventures firms or dotcom enterprises have had difficulties through sinking down their bubbles and slumping technology sector from the first half of the 2000. In consideration of Korea IT venture companies' conditions, Korean government introduce new national vision in order to go ahead of intelligence based society form knowledge based. Korea is planning new investment to meet with the challenge of globalization proactively by national band named u-Korea. As following a step in IT infrastructure, it will give Korean IT ventures new demand creative technologies and services by new technological windows of opportunity. This situation is expected that will become an economic take-off. This paper will look for the way to stimulate Korean IT ventures' competence and present new frontier of IT ventures turnaround.
