  • This paper is presented on the antenna design for notepc platform. We present the antenna with combination of electric-magnetic radiator for dual-band Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) service and a High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) service. Due to the limited antenna space in notepc platform, the antennas for various wireless communication service should be located at a very small area. In this paper, the magnetic-type radiator works for high frequency band (1.7 - 2.1 GHz) application and the electric-type radiator works for low frequency band (820 - 960 MHz) application. This combination produces wide-band characteristics in the high frequency band. Simulation and experimental results of input impedance and gain characteristics of the proposed antenna are presented. There are good agreements between the simulated and measured S11 and gain values.

  • Amniotic constriction band is a rare clinical entity with varied manifestations that range from a combination of congenital malformations to isolated malformations that are unique to each patient. The etiology of this entity remains unknown. Herein, we highlight two cases of amniotic constriction band that presented to our unit with unique clinical characteristics. To the best of our knowledge, an isolated circumferential band of scarring on the face with ocular involvement, as demonstrated by the first case, and a combination of bilateral complete cleft lip and palate with bilateral microphthalmia, auto-amputation of the right thumb, and a constriction band on the left thumb, as demonstrated by the second case, are extremely rare presentations of amniotic constriction band that were not previously reported in the literature and therefore necessitate a special mention. We discuss potential etiologies for these cases and review the existing literature on this entity.

  • This study was carried out to develop the breed-specific DNA markers for breed identification of Korean native goat meat using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP)-PCR techniques. The genomic DNAs of Korean native goat, imported black goat and four dairy goat breeds(Saanen, Alpine, Nubian and Toggenburg) were extracted from muscle tissues or blood. Genomic DNA was digested with a particular combination of two restriction enzymes with 4 base(Mse I and Taq I) and 6 base(EcoR I and Hind III) recognition sites, ligated to restriction specific adapters and amplified using the selective primer combinations. In AFLP profiles of polyacrylamide gels, the number of scorable bands produced per primer combination varied from 36 to 74, with an average of 55.5. A total of 555 bands were produced, 149(26.8%) bands of which were polymorphic. Among the ten primer combinations, two bands with 2.01 and 1.26 kb in M13/H13 primer and one band with 1.65 kb in E35/H14 primer were found to be breed-specific AFLP markers in Korean native goat when DNA bands were compared among the goat breeds. In the E35/H14 primer combination, 2.19, 2.03, 0.96 and 0.87 kb bands detected in imported black goat, 2.13 kb band in Saanen breed and 2.08 kb band in Nubian breed were observed as breed-specific bands showing differences between goat breeds, respectively. The E35/H14 primer combination produced four DNA bands distinguished between Korean native goat and Saanen breed. The is study suggested that the breed specific AFLP bands could be used as DNA markers for the identification of Korean native goat meat from imported black goat and dairy goat meats.

  • This paper discusses the effectiveness of using Landsat 8 TIR (Thermal Infrared) band images to improve the accuracy of landuse/landcover classification of urban areas. According to classification results for the study area using diverse band combinations, the classification accuracy using an image fusion process in which the TIR band is added to the visible and near infrared band was improved by 4.0%, compared to that using a band combination that does not consider the TIR band. For urban area landuse/landcover classification in particular, the producer’s accuracy and user’s accuracy values were improved by 10.2% and 3.8%, respectively. When MLC (Maximum Likelihood Classification), which is commonly applied to remote sensing images, was used, the TIR band images helped obtain a higher discriminant analysis in landuse/landcover classification.

  • The 2,4-D + BA combination in MS medium showed high regenerating ability and induced compact callus from leaf and petiole segments of three strawberry cultivars, 'Bokyo', 'Suhong', whereas the NAA + BA combination resulted in friable callus. Band of RAPD products obtained with primer 212 from the callus was different from the band of mother plant when callus induced from leaf segment of 'Suhong' cultivar was maintained in MS medium containing NAA or BA for 8 months. The RAPD bands obtained from mother plants of 'Bokyo' and 'Yeobong' were different from that of callus maintained in the presence of MS liquid medium containing 2,4-D(0.2 mg/$\ell$) subcultured every two weeks for 6 months(12 subcultures).

  • Feature vectors for conventional speech recognition are usually extracted in full frequency band. Therefore, each sub-band contributes equally to final speech recognition results. In this paper, feature Teeters are extracted indepedently in each sub-band. The cepstral resolution of each sub-band feature is controlled for the optimal speech recognition. For this purpose, different dimension of each sub-band ceptral vectors are extracted based on the multi-band approach, which extracts feature vector independently for each sub-band. Speech recognition rates and clustering quality are suggested as the criteria for finding the optimal combination of sub-band Teeter dimension. In the connected digit recognition experiments using TIDIGITS database, the proposed method gave string accuracy of 99.125%, 99.775% percent correct, and 99.705% percent accuracy, which is 38%, 32% and 37% error rate reduction relative to baseline full-band feature vector, respectively.

  • Water body detection using remote sensing based on machine interpretation of satellite image is efficient for managing water resource, drought and flood monitoring. In this study, water body detection with SAR satellite image based on machine learning was performed. However, non water body area can be misclassified to water body because of shadow effect or objects that have similar scattering characteristic comparing to water body, such as roads. To decrease misclassifying, 8 combination of morphology open filtered band, DEM band, curvature band and Cosmo-SkyMed SAR satellite image band about Mokpo region were trained to semantic segmentation machine learning models, respectively. For 8 case of machine learning models, global accuracy that is final test result was computed. Furthermore, concordance rate between landcover data of Mokpo region was calculated. In conclusion, combination of SAR satellite image, morphology open filtered band, DEM band and curvature band showed best result in global accuracy and concordance rate with landcover data. In that case, global accuracy was 95.07% and concordance rate with landcover data was 89.93%.

  • In this research, re-using band ratio data was proposed and examined as a method of raising the accuracy in landcover classification which is using satellite data.In order to determine the band which is used to calculation in the classified item, the six bands except the band 6 were combined with the band in which combination is possible and the landcover classification by MLC of supervised classification was carried out. In the result of landcover classification which is combined with forty nine combination, Two bands which were mostly used by band combination in the accuracy belonged inside the 10th place of a higher rank were selected and also calculated. landcover classification were performed again after the calculation result had been recombinated from the research. In addition, the new landcover classification result was compared and examined with the landcover classification using the old data. From the result of which was compared and examined the new landcover classification data recombinated calculation result with landcover classification using the original data, The classification accuracy of the new landcover classification data recombinated calculation result became low in ground but became improved in the all class. Specially The accuracy to urban area is very improved. therefore, it determined that reusing band ratio data is very useful when we need to analyze landcover classification and land information to urban area after that.

  • We have obtained photometry of stars in NGC 2264 with several combinations of H$\alpha$ filters and continuum filters. The main purpose of these observations was to determine the best filter combination for selecting low ma!,s member stars in their Pre-Main Sequence (PMS) stage using H$\alpha$ photometry. A narrow band H$\alpha$ filter (${\Delta}{\lambda}$ = $l0{\AA}$) with any combination of continuum filters showed the highest resolution in the H$\alpha$ photometry.
