  • The jet pump is being used in many fields for several purposes because of its simple construction and easy operation. The characteristics of the geometrical variables, pressure gradient and velocity distribution of the jet pump are studied using the CFD technique. The flow calculations through a bended nozzle. a mixing chamber and a venturi are presented and phenomenological aspects are discussed. This study solve 3-D steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using the Iterative time marching scheme. The governing equations are differenced with 1st-order accurate backward difference scheme for the time derivatives and 3rd-order accurate QUICK scheme for the convective terms. The Mark-and-cell concept was applied efficiently to solve continuity equation, which is differenced 2nd-order accurate central differenced scheme. The 4th-order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability. A O-type of grid system is generated inside a nozzle and venturi of the jet pump. It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.

  • A new passive control technique of cavity-induced pressure oscillations has been investigated numerically for a supersonic two-dimensional flow over open rectangular cavities at Mach number 1.83 just upstream of a cavity, in which a sub-cavity system is installed on the backward-facing step of the main cavity. A third-order TVD (Total Variation Diminishing) finite difference scheme with MUSCL is used to discretize the spatial derivatives in the unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The results obtained show that the present sub-cavity system is very effective in reducing cavity-induced pressure oscillations. The results also showed that the resultant amount of attenuation of cavity-induced pressure oscillations was dependent on the length and thickness of the flat plate, and also on the depth of the sub-cavity used as an oscillation suppressor.

Stability Analysis and Proposal of a Simple Form of a Fuzzy PID Controller

  • This paper suggests the simple form of a fuzzy PID controller and describes the design principle, tracking performance, stability analysis and changes of parameters of a suggested fuzzy PID controller. A fuzzy PID controller is derived from the design procedure of fuzzy control. It is well known that a fuzzy PID controller has a simple structure of the conventional PID controller but posses its self-tuning control capability and the gains of a fuzzy PID controller become nonlinear functions of the inputs. Nonlinear calculation during fuzzification, defuzzification and the fuzzy inference require more time in computation. To increase the applicability of a fuzzy PID controller to digital computer, a simple form of a fuzzy PID controller is introduced by the backward difference mapping and the analysis of the fuzzy input space. To guarantee the BIBO stability of a suggested fuzzy PID controller, ‘small gain theorem’ which proves the BIBO stability of a fuzzy PI and a fuzzy PD controller is used. After a detailed stability analysis using ‘small gain theorem’, from which a simple and practical method to decide the parameters of a fuzzy PID controller is derived. Through the computer simulations for the linear and nonlinear plants, the performance of a suggested fuzzy PID controller will be assured and the variation of the gains of a fuzzy PID controller will be investigated.

  • 본 논문에서는 위상각 제어에서 주어진 턴온 각에서 최대의 토크를 유지하기 위한 적절한 턴오프 각을 자기동조방식(self-tuning method)에 의해 결정하는 방식을 제안하였다. 엔코더에 의해 샘플링 시간(sampling time)동안 구해진 펄스 수는 바로 이전의 샘플링시간 동안 구해진 펄스 수와 비교하여 턴오프 각을 앞으로 또는 뒤로 이동한다. 이러한 과정을 되풀이함으로서 최대 토크를 발생하는 턴오프 각을 결정하게 된다. 실제 회로에서는 원 칩 마이크로프로세서에 의해 처리되었으며 실험을 통해 턴온 각이 변하더라도 자기동조방식에 의해 턴오프 각을 조정하면 빠른 속도가 유지됨을 보여 주었다.

J-그루브에 의한 인듀서의 캐비테이션 억제 (Suppression of Cavitation in Inducer by J-Groove)

  • Cavitation is the most serious problem caused in developing high-speed turbopump, and use of an inducer is often made to avoid cavitation in main impeller. Thus, the inducer always operates under the worst condition of cavitation. If it could be possible to control and suppress cavitation in the inducer by some new device, it would also be possible to suppress cavitation occurring in all types of pumps. The purpose of our present study is to develop a new effective method of controlling and suppressing cavitation in an inducer using shallow grooves, named as "J-Groove", J-Groove is installed on the casing wall near the blade tip to use the pressure difference between high pressure region and low pressure region in the axial direction at the inlet of the inducer. The results show that proper combination of backward-swept inducer with J-Groove improves suction performance of turbopump remarkably in the range of partial flow rate as well as designed flow rate. The rotating backflow cavitation occurring in the range of low flow rate and the cavitation surge occurring in the vicinity of the best efficiency point can be almost fully suppressed by installing J-Groove.

인슐린 비의존성 당뇨병 환자의 인지기능 (Cognitive Function in Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetic Patients)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the cognitive function in NIDDM patients. Method: The data were collected at MI OPD in C University hospital. with Digit Span Forward & Backward, Trail Making Test-A, Trail Making Test-B, and MMSE. Result: There were significant differences in DF, DB, TMT-A, and TMT-B according to gender, and in TMT-A according to living with spouse and comorbidity. There were significant differences in DF, DB, TMT-A, TMT-B, and MMSE according to monthly income, and in DF, TMT-A, and TMT-B according to hypertensive state. But, there was no difference in cognitive function score according to diabetes-related complication and diabetes treatment modality. There was a significant positive correlation between duration of NIDDM and TMT-A(r=.215, p=.025). The global cognition score was explained 42.1% of varient by age, duration of education, monthly income, and hypertensive state. Conclusion: As above results showed, among age, duration of education, monthly income, and hypertensive state, prevented and managed hypertensive state which is modifiable factor may reduce or delay cognitive function impairment in NIDDM patients. And DF & DB, TMT-A & B could be more utilized as useful cognitive function measurements because those tests reflected cognitive function in NIDDM patients better than MMSE.

TRIFLE DIFFERENCE APPROACH TO LOW EARTH ORBITER PRECISION ORBIT DETERMINATION

  • A precise kinematic orbit determination (P-KOD) procedure for Low Earth Orbiter(LEO) using the GPS ion-free triple differenced carrier phases is presented. Because the triple differenced observables provide only relative information, the first epoch's positions of the orbit should be held fixed. Then, both forward and backward filtering was executed to mitigate the effect of biases of the first epoch's position. p-KOD utilizes the precise GPS orbits and ground stations data from International GPS Service (IGS) so that the only unknown parameters to be solved are positions of the satellite at each epoch. Currently, the 3-D accuracy off-KOD applied to CHAMP (CHAllenging Min-isatellite Payload) shows better than 35 cm compared to the published rapid scientific orbit (RSO) solution from GFZ (GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam). The data screening for cycle slips is a particularly challenging procedure for LEO, which moves very fast in the middle of the ionospheric layer. It was found that data screening using SNR (signal to noise ratio) generates best results based on the residual analysis using RSO. It is expected that much better accuracy are achievable with refined prescreening procedure and optimized geometry of the satellites and ground stations.

A Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation (SPSA)-Based Model Approximation and its Application for Power System Stabilizers

  • This paper presents an intelligent model; named as free model, approach for a closed-loop system identification using input and output data and its application to design a power system stabilizer (PSS). The free model concept is introduced as an alternative intelligent system technique to design a controller for such dynamic system, which is complex, difficult to know, or unknown, with input and output data only, and it does not require the detail knowledge of mathematical model for the system. In the free model, the data used has incremental forms using backward difference operators. The parameters of the free model can be obtained by simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA) method. A linear transformation is introduced to convert the free model into a linear model so that a conventional linear controller design method can be applied. In this paper, the feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated in a one-machine infinite bus power system. The linear quadratic regulator (LQR) method is applied to the free model to design a PSS for the system, and compared with the conventional PSS. The proposed SPSA-based LQR controller is robust in different loading conditions and system failures such as the outage of a major transmission line or a three phase to ground fault which causes the change of the system structure.

사각관 이상유동 분석을 위한 전기적 캐패시턴스 토모그라피 코드 개발 (Development of an Electrical Capacitance Tomography Code for Analysis of Two-Phase Flow in the Rectangular Pipe)

  • A computer code for Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) is developed to sense the cross sectional phase distribution of two-phase flow in the rectangular pipe in which the tomography sensor furnished by the insulated wall, electrodes, and electric field screen. The computer code had two steps for the image reconstruction. In the forward projection step, the sensitivity matrix was constructed based on the electric field calculated by the finite difference method. In the backward projection step, the sensitivity matrix and the measured capacitances were used to reconstruct the cross sectional image. Several algorithms including LBP, TR, ITR, and PLI were employed to find the proper one for the two-phase flow analysis. Since the dielectric constant of the water in two-phase flow is sensitive to the thermal parameter such as, temperature and pressure, the developed code was evaluated to find their accuracy, speed of calculation, and sensitivity to the variation of the dielectric constant. It was found that the iterative methods are superior to the direct methods for the image reconstruction, and the PLI method was the best in the variation of the dielectric constants.
