Objective: In clinical practice, there are a lot of exercise to reduce body weight or reduce the amount of body fat in order to solve back pain. However, many studies have contradicted the relationship between back pain and weight or body fat mass. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between fat mass, body mass index and low back pain of office worker. Design: Crossed-sectional study Methods: Among the white-collar workers diagnosed with non-specific back pain by doctors, subjects who were not included in the exclusion criteria were selected to measure the subject's body fat mass, body mass index, pain intensity, and disability index due to back pain. The NPRS was used for the intensity of back pain of office workers, and the ODI was used for the degree of disability due to back pain. A body composition analyzer was used to measure the body fat mass and body mass index of white-collar workers. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in the comparison between the normal group and the excessive group according to the criteria of fat mass and body mass index. In the correlation analysis of fat mass, body mass index, pain intensity, and disability index, it was found that there was a significant correlation between fat mass and body mass index. However, neither fat mass nor body mass index had a significant correlation with pain intensity and disability index. Conclusions: The fat mass and body mass index of office worker do not affect low back pain.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to classify patients with chronic back pain according to the degree of their back pain, and to compare the pain dysfunction index with the qualitative changes in abdominal muscles. Therefore, we aimed to provide a basis for the treatment intervention method for patients with back pain. Methods: Twenty patients with chronic back pain were purposive sample to a group of 10 patients with a back pain index of 60 % or more and a group with less than 60 % of back pain, and the subjects who voluntarily participated in the study After receiving the letter, I conducted the research the dysfunction of back pain was measured by the Korean version of the Oswestry Disability Index (KODI), and the ultrasonic wave (Ultrasound MyLabOne, ESAOTE, Italy) And the white area index, and the abdominal muscle movement was used as the exercise instrument POWER breathe K5 (Hab direct, UK), which strengthens the respiratory muscles through threshold-muscle traction. Result: In this study, patients with chronic back pain were subjected to breathing exercises, which led to the decrease in back pain dysfunction. The ultrasonographic analysis of abdominal muscles revealed that both the white area index and muscle image density in the skeletal muscle and in the outer muscle of the abdomen gradually decreased over time. Conclusion: It is thought that introducing back pain patients to abdominal muscle reinforcement training is effective in improving the functions of the patients' muscles, thus increasing their quality of life.

The Pearson's R score between each questionnaires of Oswestry Disability Index and pain strength was .5692. p<0.0001. So it is very high. But, that between each questionnaires of Hendler 10-Minute Screening Test and pain strength was not significant.. 2261 p<0.05 3. The Pearson's R score between Pain strength of Oswestry and person care was .3391, sex life was .3756, social life was .4637 (p<0.005) and that between Pain factor of Hendler, pain area of Hendler and sleeping(4358), sex(.6198), position change(2767), (p<0.005). So it is significant. 4. The categories where we could see the correlation between Pain strenth of Oswestry and Hendler each questionnaires were sleeping(.3222), sex(5524), position change(4291). (p<0.005).
Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of hamstring eccentric exercise on pain and functional activity in patients with chronic low back pain. Design: Randomized controlled trial Methods: Participants comprised 27 subjects with back pain persisting for 3 months. They were randomly assigned to the experimental group (Eccentric exercise: n=13) and the control group (Stretching: n=14). The experimental group performed gastrocnemius, iliopsoas, and quadratus lumborum stretching along with hamstring eccentric exercise, while the control group engaged in the same stretches along with hamstring stretching. The eccentric exercise for the hamstrings was Nordic curl exercise. Each group practiced for 1 hour a day, 3 times a week, for 4 weeks. Pain, disability index, balance, and hamstring length were measured. Results: Significant differences were observed in the comparison of changes in back pain, back disability index, and hamstring length before and after exercise within each group (p<0.05). The balance ability of the experimental group showed a difference before and after exercise (p<0.05), whereas no significant difference in the control group. There were no significant differences in back pain and hamstring length between the groups. Changes in back disability index and balance ability significantly increased in the experimental group compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Hamstring eccentric exercise using Nordic curls has a positive effect on back pain, back disability index, balance ability, and hamstring length changes.

Objectives To evaluate the clinical usefulness between muscle energy techniques (MET) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator (TENS), we performed both on elector spinae muscle of acute low back pain patients. Methods After performing MET and TENS, we compared both in terms of electrical activity. We performed MET or TENS on elector spinae muscle of acute low back pain patients in each group (n=15,15). After performing MET or TENS, we analyzed root mean square (RMS), median edge frequency (MEF) and asymmetry index (AI). Results 1. After performing MET on elector spinae muscle of acute low back pain patients, RMS was significantly decreased compared with before (p<0.005). 2. After performing TENS on elector spinae muscle of acute low back pain patients, RMS was significantly decreased compared with before (p<0.005). 3. After performing MET on elector spinae muscle of acute low back pain patients, asymmetric index was significantly decreased compared with before (p<0.05). Conclusions According to above results, performing MET on elector spinae muscle of acute low back pain patients has effect in terms of RMS and asymmetric index. And performing TENS on elector spinae muscle of acute low back pain patients also has similar effect in terms of RMS but has not in terms of asymmetric index.

This study was conducted on college students with low back pain to find out how a backrest exercise program affects the pain and balance of students. Thirty-two students at K University in Gwangju City were randomly classified with backrests and without backrests group respectively. Each group conducted the program for lasted three times a week for a total of 30 minutes for four weeks. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was measured for pain assessment before and after arbitration, and the Korean Oswestry Disability Index (KODI) was measured for functional disability assessment. TETRAX is used to measure the weight distribution index and posture stability. According to the results of the experiment, the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the Korean Oswestry Disability Index (KODI) and weight distribution index showed significant differences over time, but the posture stability was no significant difference. The results of this study show that the lower limb exercise program is effective in back pain, dysfunction and weight distribution index, and it is believed that the pain reduction is significant when performed by distal movement in the area of back pain, It can be applied effectively to reduce low back pain in college students who spend a lot of time sitting down.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the foot pressure distribution correlates with the lumbo-sacral curvature, and the Oswestry Disability Index in chronic low back pain patients. Methods : We measured the fore foot pressure and the rare foot pressure using the foot analyzer in 28 women subjects with chronic low back pain. The lumbo-sacral curvature and the Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) were also measured. Results : 1. Subjects with higher ODI(%) had significantly lower Fore foot pressure/Rare foot pressure ratio(F/R ratio) (p<0.01). 2. Lumbar lordotic angle and Ferguson angle were inversely related to ODI(%) (p<0.05, p<0.01). 3. Lumbar lordotic angle and Ferguson angle were positively related to F/R ratio (all p<0.05). Conclusions : Using the Foot Analyzer(FA-48S, Tech storm Inc.) we have shown that F/R ratio has significant correlation with the lumbo-sacral curvature and the Oswestry Disability Index. These result suggest that the Foot analyzer may be used in assessing back pain in chronic low back pain patients.
Purpose : his study was to analyze the reliability and validity on Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Index (OLBPDI) in patients with low back pain. Methods : The sample consisted of 211 patients who had received treatments at the physical therapy units of 3 medical institutions from February to December 2008 in Andong city. Questionnaires on the OLBPDI were recruited by 6 physical therapists. The internal structure and reliability of the scales were evaluated by means of item-internal consistency(Cronbach's alpha coefficient:${\alpha}$), item-discriminant validity, Pearson's relation coefficient. Results : An average of patients's age was 41.1 years. The range of OLBPDI subscales were .93~.94 in Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. The internal consistency reliability of total item-each item were also internally consistent with Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ range of .94~.95(Pearson's correlation coefficient range: .62~.89). However, high correlation were obtained among 10 items(.67~.83), therefore the item-discriminant validity was a little low. Conclusion: In conclusion, the results reported here confirm the reliability of the OLBPDI scales in patients with low back pain. The collection of information on the level of disability due to low back pain using this instrument was acceptable to patients. A further prospective multi-center study will be necessary to prove the reliability and validity.
