  • Objective: Hapkok(L14) and Taechung(Liv3) are acupuncture points located on both sides of each foot and hand of the human body. These two points are called sakwan points. Matching these acupuncture points have a significant reason in pints of not only regulating the circulation of Yin-Yang as a source point of each meridian, but also playing a basic role of twelve meridian by controlling circulation of ki and blood in the whole body. There are already related documents and studies on stimulating sakwan points. Since those papers mostly studied on either hapkook or taechung, we came to have a doubt of stimulation the two point at the same time when an unbalance of Yin-Yang and ki-blood appears. Accordingly, we got to investigate how thermogram of body changes after applying an acupuncture on sakwan points. Our study is as follows ; Method : Our study was performed on 30 normal cases(M:F=17:13) with no past history to observe the effects of the acupuncture. We measured temperature of abdomen and the back of both hands by D.I.T.I(Digital infrared Thermographic Imaging) before and after acupuncture on sakwan points. Results and Conclusions: The thermographic change on abdomen was $0.51{\pm}0.71^{\circ}C$. Temperature of abdomen after acupuncture was higher than before acupuncture with high validity(p<0.01). And the thermographic changes on the back of both hands were right hand $0.54{\pm}1.17^{\circ}C$, left hand $0.56{\pm}1.28^{\circ}C$. Temperature on the back of both hands after acupuncture was higher than before acupuncture, but the difference between them had little validity(p<0.01). In addition, we found that it doesn't necessarily follow that the thermographic changes on abdomen and back of both hands after acupuncture on sakwan points happen concurrently.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop knitwear design expressed not also Green but also LOHAS using natural yarns(wool and cotton) dyed with various natural sources(sappanwood, indigo plant, turmeric, cochineal, coffee, gallnut, and persimmon juice). This researcher tried to suggest solution scheme through the development of knitwear designs to break from the cottage industry and the limitation of design in Jeju and to preserve of traditional dye with persimmon juice simultaneously. Knitting is the formation of a fabric by the interlooping of one or more sets of yarns with hand knitting or industrial knitting. In hand-knitting, the two fundamental stitches are described as knit depending on the direction of the loop formation, front to back or back to front. In machine-knitting, the direction of loop formation is fixed, unless the stitch is mechanically transferred from front to back needle bed or vice versa. Industrial knitting technology can be divided into two main areas - weft knitting and warp knitting. Each has a different principle of construction. The majority of knitted fabrics for clothing are weft-knitted, and so this study is used weft-knitting and hand knitting technology. To achieve this purpose, researcher tried to present a lot of knitwear designs using yarns dyed with various natural sources focusing on Modern & Sophisticated Image and Elegance & Romantic Image to satisfy adult and missy consumer needs.

  • Based on upper limb torque by different angles of a back, distance between crank axis and chest and angles of hand-grips, this research is to develop variable hand bikes. By doing so, it is to offer guidance for its design. For this research three normal persons took part in the experiment. Results are as follows. First, upper limb torque was found to be the highest at 50 degree of a back and muscle endurance was shown to be the highest at 80 degree of a back. It means that as a back of a chair gets lower the speed and efficiency becomes better, which contradicts the subjective fact that K-type hand bikes would show the highest speed. Second, among types of grips of hand bikes 45 degree ones have been shown to be the ones with the highest torque. This is due to proper distribution of power of joints in arms, elbows, and shoulders. Third, in case of distance of 45cm between crank axis and chest, it has shown the most efficient torque. This is because of the effect of gravity and exhaustion when handling.

  • Background: The objective of this study was to report on the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain in lobstermen in the northeast USA. Methods: Crews were randomly selected from those licensed to fish in Maine and Massachusetts and followed prospectively. The survey used a Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire format to characterize musculoskeletal disorders. Results: A total of 395 individuals participated. One half of the respondents reported low back pain. Back pain was attributed to or exacerbated by lobstering. Low back pain was prevalent among both captains and sternmen, while sternmen reported more hand/wrist pain than captains. Multiple locations for pain were common in individual participants. Conclusion: Equipment or technology to assist material handling should be a priority, as the body segments with high prevalence of pain (back, hand/wrists, shoulders, knees) are all affected by the repetitive and forceful handling of the lobster traps.

  • Objectives: This study was designed to define the musculoskeletal pain levels among selected hairdressers and the risk factors for these musculoskeletal pain levels. Methods: A survey was conducted from July 1 to August 10, 2011 among 199 hair dressers working in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province using a self-administered Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. The affecting factors for musculoskeletal pain levels were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. Results: The musculoskeletal pain levels by body region were low back(6.19), ankle/foot(6.14), shoulder(5.27), knee(5.27), back(5.23) and wrist/hand(5.18). In stepwise regression, significant actors affecting the level of pain by body region were height on wrist/hand, low back, and knee and age on elbow. Conclusions: Based on these results, in order to prevent musculoskeletal diseases among hair dressers, standing time should be decreased and stretching should be performed regularly to protect the low back and knee.

  • This study provided the data for the planning of knit apparel by analyzing structural effects of intarsia and jacquard knit on mechanical properties, subjective hand measurements, and preference. Intarsia and 7 types of color jacquard (floating jacquard, normal jacquard, bird's eye jacquard, tubular jacquard, ladder's back jacquard, blister jacquard, and transfer jacquard) were used. The samples (with a gauge of 14) were knitted using 100% wool 2/48's yarn by a Shima Seiki SIG computer knitting machine. Mechanical properties and hand values were measured by a KES-FB system. Subjective hand and favorable images were surveyed based on women in their 20s and 30s. The data were analyzed by a factor analysis, ANOVA and correlation analysis using SPSS 12.0. The subjective hand of intarsia and jacquard knits was categorized into 'thermofeeling', 'weight/flexibility', and 'durability'. The results of the favorable image survey for F/W outer knitwear showed that tubular jacquard was most favorable; however, the transfer jacquard was least favorable. Among the three factors that explain the subjective hand, thermofeeling had a strong influence on the favorable image of consumers. Bird's eye jacquard and tubular jacquard turned out to be most suitable for suits, intarsia and floating jacquard were suitable for cardigans and sweaters, ladder's back jacquard was suitable for hats or mufflers, and transfer jacquard was suitable for home fashion rather than garments.

  • Most of carrying works have been performed in almost all production process, conveyer objects, machine equipment and work method. Then, they are made by unfitted design which doesn't consider physical condition of workers. So, it causes them to bring about forceful motion. This study investigated the back power for what difference between lumbar bending angle and back power by selecting 21 male aged 22∼30 years old. Lumbar angle were shared each 30, 60, 90 degrees and measured. The results of this study was that as lumbar angle was increasing, back power was decreased and were very significant differences for angles respectively. Besides. sample correlation coefficients were calculated in order to analyze the relationship between back power, anthropometric dimensions and grip strength. Back power was correlated with weight, arm length, hand length, breadth of palm, breadth of lower arm, breadth of wrist and left-right grip strength.

  • With millions of people across the globe suffering from Parkinson's disease (PD), an objective, confirmatory test for the same is yet to be developed. This research aims to develop a system which can assist the doctor in objectively saying whether the patient is normal or under risk of PD. The proposed work combines the eye-hand co-ordination behaviour with the DaTscan images in order to determine the risk of this disorder. Initially, eye-hand coordination level of the patient is assessed through a hardware module. Then, the DaTscan image is analysed and used to extract certain geometrical parameters which shall indicate the presence of PD. These parameters are then finally fed into a Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network using Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) Back propagation training algorithm. Experimental results indicate that the proposed system exhibits an accuracy of around 93%.
