원주 TIG 용접에서 이면 비드 형상 제어를 위한 Filter Wire 송급힘과 용접자세의 상관관계에 대한 연구 (A study on the mapping between the feeding force of filter wire and welding position for the control of back bead shape in orbital TIG welding)

  • In TIG welding of pipe, back bead size monitoring is important for weld quality assurance. Many researches have been performed on estimation of the back bead size by heat conduction analysis. However numerical conduction model based on many uncertain thermal parameters causes remarkable errors and thermomechanical phenomena in molten pool can not be considered. In this paper, filler wire feeding force in addition to weld current, wire feedrate, torch travel speed and orbital position angle is monitored to estimate back bead size in orbital TIG welding. Monitored welding process variables are fed into an artificial neural network estimator which has been trained with the monitored process variables (input patterns) and actual back bead size (output patterns). Experimental verification of the proposed estimation method was performed. The predicted results are in a good agreement with the actual back bead shape. The results are quite promising in that estimation of invisible back bead shape can be achieved by analyzing the welding parameters without any conventional NDT of welds.

  • This paper addresses the product shape modification for spring-back reduction in the sheet metal forming process of the cabin sunroof which is applied to the construction equipment. Initially, the anisotropic material properties are measured in order to calculate the degree of spring-back by the numerical simulation of the sheet metal forming process. To reduce the spring-back of the stamped part, several design modifications are suggested according to the geometrical bead arrangement on the planar region. The degrees of spring-back are confirmed for various product designs with different use of the geometrical bead. Finally, the spring-back improvement was validated by manufacturing the tryout product with the modified die set for the optimized product shape.

인공신경망을 이용한 이면비드 예측 및 용접성 평가 (Back-bead Prediction and Weldability Estimation Using An Artificial Neural Network)

  • The shape of excessive penetration mainly depends on welding conditions(welding current and welding voltage), and welding process(groove gap and welding speed). These conditions are the major affecting factors to width and height of back bead. In this paper, back-bead prediction and weldability estimation using artificial neural network were investigated. Results are as follows. 1) If groove gap, welding current, welding voltage and welding speed will be previously determined as a welding condition, width and height of back bead can be predicted by artificial neural network system without experimental measurement. 2) From the result applied to three weld quality levels(ISO 5817), both experimented measurement using vision sensor and predicted mean values by artificial neural network showed good agreement. 3) The width and height of back bead are proportional to groove gap, welding current and welding voltage, but welding speed. is not.

위보기 및 경사상진자세의 TIG 용접에서 비드 성형기의 물리적 힘에 의한 용융지 제어 (Control of Molten Pool by Physical Force of Bead Former in TIG Welding of Overhead and Inclined-up Position)

  • Due to excellent weld quality, orbital welding with TIG is widely applied to pipe welding. But concave back bead is formed easily in overhead and inclined-up position of butt orbital welding. It is difficult to find a paper to overcome this problem. In this study, in order to make convex back bead in overhead and inclined-up position of pipe 5G welding, control method of molten pool was actively investigated. Melt run welds were conducted on thickness 4.0mm SS400 with overhead and inclined-up position and was observed the variation of bead shape after welding with the bead former developed. The height of back bead showed the trend of increase as the distance from molten pool to the bead former was decreased. Also, there is no trend in the bead width of front and back as welding position was changed or the distance from molten pool to the bead former was decreased.

  • In the 5xxx series Al-Mg alloy, magnesium addition can increase the strength of aluminum alloy by solid solution strengthening but it has a relatively low melting and boiling temperature. During full -penetration laser welding of the Al-Mg alloys, its low boiling point and high vapor pressure brings about the spiky humping bead on the bottom side. Under back-side shielding, the spiking of back bead can be reduced but it restraints the process flexibility. In this study, a square pulse waveform modulation was employed to stabilize keyhole and back bead surface without back-side shielding. By using an experimental design, the bead shapes were evaluated for various process parameters such as the focal position, welding velocity and waveform parameters and the smooth back bead shape could be achieved.

  • Bead shape control with gas force process has been developed to overcome the concave back bead in pipe orbital welding. However, It is impossible to make a convex back bead using the existing gas nozzle, because it has high gas-consuming and low gas force. The purpose of this paper, to develop optimum shape of nozzle which to reduce the consumption of gas, maximizing the shield gas force with low cost and high productivity coincide the Green welding. In this paper venturi-type nozzle was compared with existing CP-type nozzle by TIG pulse welding in overhead position. As a result, CP-type occurs the wormholes in the overhead position, but the Venturi-type without the pore and formed a good bead appearance.

  • Bead shape control with gas force process has been developed to overcome the concave back bead in pipe orbital welding. The purpose of this paper, to develop optimum shape of nozzle which to reduce the consumption of gas, maximizing the shield gas force with low cost and high productivity coincide the Green welding. In this paper venturi-type nozzle was designed by using the Venturi meter and compared velocity, pressure, arc shape in the flat position with existing CP-nozzle. As a result, Venturi-type nozzle's maximum velocity and pressure was improved at the same flow rate. Also heat input was increased by the arc contraction in the flat position.

  • 현재 산업현장에서 활용하는 용접용 로봇은 대부분 오프라인(off-line)으로 작업을 수행하고 있어 생산성과 용접 품질 향상에 그 기능을 충분하게 발휘하지 못하는 실정이다. 현재에는 용접 품질 향상을 위하여 용접 매카니즘이 많이 연구되어 많은 수학적인 해석과 물리적인 해석방법을 도입하여 비선형적인 용접 메카니즘을 연구하고 있다. 이러한 여러 가지 비선형적인 문제와 해석상의 어려움에도 불구하고 용접의 결함을 보완하기 위해 보다 정확한 용접데이터를 생성하기 위하여 고감도의 센서를 도입하여 신호처리 하고 있으며, 이를 이용하여 용접시스템에 포함시키는 피드백제어시스템(feed-back control system)을 구성하여 용접선 추적 및 용접 비드(bead) 형상제어에 응용하고 있다. 또한, 최근에는 인공지능제어기술이 발달되어 인간의 학습능력과 의사결정능력을 대신하는 신경회로망(neural network)과 퍼지이론(fuzzy logic)을 도입하여 용접기술을 개발하고 발전시키고 있다. 본 연구에서는 신경회로망이론을 이용하여 실시간으로 용접시스템을 모니터링하고 퍼지제어기에 의하여 용접결함을 보정하는 지능시스템을 개발방법을 제시하고자 한다.

수평자세 맞대기 TIG 초층용접에서 최적용접조건의 선정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Welding Condition for Root-Pass in Horizontal Butt-Joint TIG Welding)

  • 본 연구에서는 수평 자세에서의 TIG 용접 시 반응표면법(RSM)을 이용하여, 최적의 이면비드 형상을 구하는 연구를 진행하였다. 입력변수로는 베이스 전류, 피크 전류, 용접속도를 선정하였고, 이면비드 폭을 용접품질에 관한 출력변수로 하여 목표값을 5.4 mm로 설정하였다. Box-Behnken 실험계획법에 따라 실험을 진행하였고, 비드 폭에 관한 2차 회귀모형을 구한 후, F-테스트를 이용하여 회귀모델을 검정하였다. 그리고 망목특성의 호감도 함수를 사용하여 이면비드 형상을 평가함으로써 최적화를 수행하였다. 이렇게 도출된 최적의 용접조건은 코드화된 값으로 베이스 전류; 0.9204, 피크 전류; 0.8676, 용접속도; 0.3776이었다. 검증실험 결과 목표값에 근접한 5.38 mm의 이면비드 폭을 얻을 수 있었다.
