A prestudy on expendable turbine engine for high-speed vehicle was conducted. The two possible mission profiles were established to decide the engine requirements and Design Point, and Design Point analysis was performed with the values of design parameter which were obtained from similar class engines and technical references. The results showed that Specific Net Thrust is 2599.4 ft/s and Specific Fuel Consumption is 1.483 lb/($lb^*h$) at the flight condition of Sea Level, Mach 1.2. It was also found through the performance analysis on the two possible mission profiles that major design parameters for determining Net Thrust were Turbine Inlet Temperature for low supersonic flight speed and Compressor Exit Temperature for high supersonic flight speed. In addition, simple turbojet engine with axial compressor, straight annular combustor, axial turbine and fixed throat area converge-diverge exhaust nozzle was proposed as the configuration of simple low cost light engine.

The capability of accurate positioning and tracking is necessary to implement an unmanned autonomous driving system. The moving-baseline GPS Technique is a promising candidate to mitigate positioning errors of conventional GPS system. It provides accurate positioning data based on the phase difference between received signals from multiple GPS antennas mounted on the same platform. In this paper, we propose a dual-band dual-circularly-polarized antenna suitable for the moving-baseline GPS. The proposed antenna operates at GPS L1 and L2 bands, and fed by the side of the antenna instead of the bottom. The antenna is firstly designed by calculating theoretical values of key parameters, and then optimized by means of 3D full-wave simulation software. Simulation and measurement results show that the optimized antenna offers 6.1% and 3.7% bandwidth at L1 and L2, respectively, with axial ratio bandwidth of more than 1%. The size of the antenna is $73mm{\times}73mm{\times}6.4mm$, which is small and low-profile.

A prestudy on expendable turbine engine for high-speed vehicle was conducted. After two possible mission profiles were established to decide the engine requirements, design point analysis was performed with the values of design parameter which were obtained from similar class engines, references, etc. The results showed that specific net thrust and specific fuel consumption with turbine inlet temperature of 3,600 R are 2,599.4 ft/s and 1.483 lb/(lb*h) respectively at the flight condition of sea level, Mach 1.2. It was also found that major design parameters for determining maximum net thrust were turbine inlet temperature for low supersonic and transonic flight speed and compressor exit temperature for high supersonic flight speed from the results of performance analysis on the two possible mission profiles. In addition, simple turbojet engine with an axial compressor, a straight annular combustor, an one stage axial turbine and a fixed throat area converge-diverge exhaust nozzle was proposed as the configuration of simple low cost lightweight turbine engine.

Material properties such as coolant specific heat, film heat transfer coefficient, cladding thermal conductivity, surface diffusion coefficient of the multi-bubble are improved in MACSIS-Mod1. The axial power and flux profile module was also incorporated with irradiation history. The performance and feasibility of the updated driver fuel pin have been analyzed for nominal parameters based on the conceptual design for the KALIMER breakeven core by MACSIS-MOD1 code. The fuel slug centerline temperature takes the maximum at 700mm from the bottom of the slug in spite of the nearly symmetric axial power distribution. The cladding mid-wall and coolant temperatures take the maximum at the top of the pin. Temperature of the fuel slug surface over the entire irradiation life is much lower than the fuel-clad eutectic reaction temperature. The fission gas release of the driver fuel pin at the end of life is predicted to be $68.61\%$ and plenum pressure is too low to cause cladding yielding. The probability that the fuel pin would fail is estimated to be much less than that allowed in the design criteria. The maximum radial deformation of the fuel pin is $1.93\%$, satisfying the preliminary design criterion ($3\%$) for fuel pin deformation. Therefore the conceptual design parameters of the driver fuel pin for the KALIMER breakeven core are expected to satisfy the preliminary criteria on temperature, fluence limit, deformation limit etc.

Steam generator tubes for nuclear power plants contain the local shape transitions on their inner or outer surface such as dent, bulge, over-expansion, eccentricity, deflection, and so on by the application of physical force during the tube manufacturing and steam generator assembling and by the sludge (that is, corrosion products) produced during the plant operation. The structural integrity of tubes will be degraded by generating the corrosive crack at that location. The profilometry using the traditional bobbin probes which are currently applied for measuring the profile change of tubes gives us basic information such as axial locations and average magnitudes of deformations. However, the three-dimensional quantitative evaluation on circumferential locations, distributional angle, and size of deformations will have to be conducted to understand the effects of residual stresses increased by local deformations on corrosive cracking of tubes. Steam generator tubes of Korean standard nuclear power plants expanded within their tube-sheets by the explosive expansion method and suffered from corrosive cracks in the early stage of power operation. Thus, local deformations of steam generator tubes at the top of tube-sheet were measured with an advanced rotating probe and a laser profiling system for the two cases where the tubes expanded by the explosive expansion method and hydraulic expansion. Also, the trends of eccentricity, deflection, and over-expansion of tubes were evaluated. The advanced eddy current profilometry was confirmed to provide accurate information of local deformations compared with laser profilometry.
The ring rolling process is one of the best known ring production method. The present model based control system was designed for rings with rectangle cross-section yet. An Adaptive Fuzzy Control for Closed-Die Ring-Rolling was developed in order to enhance the flexibility of the radial-axial ring rolling machine and to produce the rings with highly complex cross-section profile, roller bearing rings. A fuzzy method was implemented because of its simple application and to utilize the known process knowledge. The quality of the control system was estimated by die filling grad, which is strong dependent on the rising time of the controller. The rolling process parameters were also varied to determine their influence on filling of the ring profile. Die filling met the requirement of the industry.

The behavior of a non-buoyant turbulent round jet discharging horizontally was investigated experimentally. The instantaneous velocity field of the jet was obtained using the particle image velocimetry (PIV) method and used to calculate the mean velocity field by phase-averaging. This study tested regular waves with a relatively small wave height for a wavy environmental flow. The centerline and cross-sectional velocity profiles were reported to demonstrate the effect of the waves on the jet diffusion in respect of wave height and wave phase. The wave phase effect was studied for three phases: zero-upcrossing point, zero-downcrossing point, trough. From the results, it is found that the centerline velocity decreases and width of the cross-sectional profile increases as the wave height increases. In addition, the self-similarity of the cross-sectional profile appears to break down although the width of each case along the axial distance does not vary significantly. The phase effect is found to be relatively small compared to the wave height effect.
Prediction model was composed by optimal parameter estimation from best fitting on reactant temperature profile, inlet and outlet temperature of coolant and yield of dual fixed-bed catalytic reactor(FBCR) which was measured in the industrial field. In order to design the FBCR which could obtain maximum conversion and yield, we investigated the effect of catalyst bed length and reactor radius changes. An uniform activity FBCR showed the best performance at z = 2.8 m of total catalysst bed length in case of reactor radius r = 0.01241 m and z =2.80 m(upper layer: 1.88 m, lower layer: 0.92 m) under reactor radius r = 0.01254 m for a dual activities FCBR. In case of reactor radius changes, the axial temperature profile and maximum radial temperature was rapidly risen for radius increase. The reactor radius decrease showed the opposite result.

The effect of the inlet swirling flow in a hydraulic turbine draft tube is a very complex phenomenon, which has been extensively investigated both theoretically and experimentally. In fact, the finding of the optimal flow distribution at the draft tube inlet in order to get the best performance has remained a challenge. Thus, attempting to answer this question, it was assumed that through an automatic optimization process a Genetic Algorithm would be able to manage a parameterized inlet velocity profile in order to achieve the best flow field for a particular draft tube. As a result of the optimization process, it was possible to obtain different draft-tube flow structures generated by the automatic manipulation of parameterized inlet velocity profiles. Thus, this work develops a qualitative and quantitative analysis of these new draft tube flow field structures provoked by the redesigned inlet velocity profiles. The comparisons among the different flow fields obtained clearly illustrate the importance of the flow uniformity at the end of the conduit. Another important aspect has been the elimination of the re-circulating flow area which used to promote an adverse pressure gradient in the cone, deteriorating the pressure recovery effect. Thanks to the evolutionary optimization strategy, it has been possible to demonstrate that the optimized inlet velocity profile can suppress or mitigate, at least numerically, the undesirable draft tube flow characteristics. Finally, since there is only a single swirl number for which the objective function has been minimized, the energy loss factor might be slightly affected by the flow rate if the same relation of the axial-tangential velocity components is maintained, which makes it possible to scale the inlet velocity field to different operating points.
A Continous wave tunable $CO_2$ laser which is the slow axial flow type was construccted for the optical pumping of methyl alcohol ($CH_3OH$) laser. The reflective grating of 100 grooveslmm and 10.6$\mu\textrm{m}$ blaze wavelength was used to select wavelength. We have investigated continous outpu: power characteristics, and then have compared tuned output power profile with the gain curve of $CO_2$ laser. The optimum condition for maxium power was found at the gas mixing ratio 1 : 3 : 10 for $CO_2: N_2$ and He. under this condition the flow rate, pressure of lasing gas and discharge current are 9.5 llmin. 14 torr, and 55 mA respectively. The maxium output power was 55 Wlm. Output power of single wavelength operation was measured on 60 individual rotation vibration transitions in the P and K branches of the 9.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ band and 10.4$\mu\textrm{m}$ band in $CO_2$. The output power profile obtained from each band is well consistent with the gain curve of $CO_2$ laser and maxium tuned output power was 20 watt.
