SOSS-PC was used for data analysis, and the data were tested by ANOVA, t-Test, Pearson's Correlation, Multiple Regression Analysis, and Duncan Test. The major findings are as follows: 1) The college students' familism generally tends to show low scores (M=2.79), indicating the modern familism-individualism. 2) The college students' awareness of parent-supporting is reported to be high(M=4.23); the highest awareness of parent-supporting is financial supporting, the next is service supporting, then emotinal supporting. 3) For personal background variables, male students rather than female students, the students who have parents with more monthly income, and those who have experience in living with grandparents tend to have more traditional familism. 4) Older students, the students with more traditional familism, those who find more satisfaction in family relations, and male students rather than female students tend to show higher awareness of parent-supporting. 5) In causal relations among the personal background variables, the familism, the awareness of parent-supporting, the variables with a significant impact on the familism are gender, parents' monthly income, and experience in living with grandparents, in order of impact. Age, the familism, satisfaction in family relations, and gender, in order of impact, affect the awareness of parent-supporting. Especially, the familism has the highest correlations with the awareness of financial, emotional, and service supporting, and shows considerable causal impact on the awareness of parent-supporting in general. The data, 'Survey on the Elderly in 2014', were collected from 'The Ministry of Health & Welfare' and the 'Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs'. The samples included 10,279 elderly people who were over 65 years of age. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the research model. The findings are as follows. First, the highest participation awareness level of all was for the hobbies and leisure activities, and the lowest participation awareness level was for volunteer activities. Second, human capital factors such as age, education level, and health status, and economic capital factors such as household consumption expenditure and standard of living signigicant affected social participation awareness among the elderly. Psychological factors such as self-esteem, depression, and the subjective age of becoming elderly, also affected the social participation awareness. Third, awareness differed by sex. In particular, age and depression were restrictions of social participation awareness that were more common among elderly women than among elderly men, although single women were more likely to participate in religious, learning, and hobby and leisure activities. In contrast, chronic diseases and household consumption expenditures were more restrictive of social participation awareness among elderly men compared to elderly women. These results show that human capital, economic capital, and psychological factors heavily influence the social participation awareness of the elderly, although the degree of influence of these factors differs by sex.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the OKgram and abuse awareness, and between the the characteristics of the major field and abuse awareness of pre-service child care teachers who are taking the (child care) course as part of their university curriculum. Positiveness isclassified into 2 subfactors,self-positiveness and other positiveness, while abuses are classified into 4 sub factors, viz. body, sex, emotion and neglect, in order to investigate and analyze the effectsof each sub factor. Asurvey was carried out for students of the department of Child Care and the department of Social Welfare of the universities in Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do and Seoul, during the 5 day period from 8th May to 12th May, 2017. After conducting a frequency analysis, correlation and multiple regression analyses were performed, from which we madethe following conclusions. First, it was found that positiveness influences abuse awareness, and that when other positiveness is higher than self-positiveness, abuse awareness is increased. We also concluded that we should provide more personality programs that enhance others positiveness. Second, the seriousness of abuse level showed an average value of 4.594, which is highly recognized, while the level (required) to recognize the index wasin the order of sexual(4.789), physical(4.587), neglect(4.510), emotional(4.498), with the index of emotion beingthe lowest. This indicatesthe necessity to strengthen the social standard on emotion abuse awareness. Third, in the characteristics of the major field, the respondents answered that their actual work experience of being a pre-service child care teacher was helpful to raise their abuse awareness, and thatchild care practice wasthe most important. Therefore,we concluded that it is necessary to arrange practical courses which increase the chance of obtaining actual work experience and provide child care practice during child care teacher training.
