Before the development of email records management measures, this study aimed to investigate the status of email records management in universities and determine employees' perceptions of email records management. Surveys and interviews were conducted with professors, staff, and assistants who use groupware accounts at D University, and their overall perceptions of email records management and the status of email record management, such as email production, deletion, archival, and backup of university members were gathered. A total of 185 people responded to the survey, and 12 of them were interviewed. According to the analysis, the public utilization of email was frequent, and the management of emails, such as backup and retention, was not performed well compared to deletion and storage. In addition, email is still perceived as private, and users recognize the need for email records management, but they still perceive that they are responsible for records management. The results of this study will be useful in setting the policy for email records management of universities and will help provide email record management awareness.

  • This study was conducted to examine the current status of record management in parliamentary offices and identify areas of improvement. For this, in-depth interviews were conducted primarily with parliamentary aides to investigate their perceptions and needs. The research revealed that although the responsibility for record management in parliamentary offices lies with the aides, systematic record management is lacking because of inadequate awareness. While some aides recognize the importance of record management, there is still a need for a change in perception and practice. Furthermore, the study found that there is a lack of systematic education and support for effective implementation. The perceptions of aides were classified into three types: proactive (type A), pragmatically adaptive (type B), and those emphasizing the specificity of parliamentary records (type C). In particular, the change in perception of aides in types B and C is crucial, considering their pivotal role in parliamentary office record management. In response, this study suggests education and awareness improvement programs for record management, the introduction of an integrated record management system, and the establishment of policy and institutional support as key tasks.

  • With the increase of the establishment of temporary institutions in accordance with social issues, the importance of managing records that reflect the characteristics of temporary institutions is highlighted. However, because of the ambiguity of laws related to records management, the limited number of employees, and the lack of awareness of records management by temporary institutions, the records management has not been carried out properly. Therefore, this study seeks to identify the gaps between statutes and practices and derive improvement measures for them. As such, the concept and characteristics of temporary institutions were identified through requests for disclosure of information. Moreover, the status of the administrative committee and the records management status of various temporary organizations were determined as well. Finally, improvement measures were drawn and proposed in terms of law, system, and record management by selecting relevant institutions in accordance with the Act and conducting in-depth interviews. This study is significant as it monitored the entire process of managing the records of existing time organizations and will serve as the basis for efficiently managing the future ones.

  • Wetland awareness is a crucial factor for wetland conservation and management. A multidisciplinary approach is needed for the understanding of wetland awareness as associated with history, culture, and social-economics of human society. In addition, a historical investigation of the causes and areas of destruction is important. Therefore, the aim of this study was to confirm how people understood and managed wetlands in the Joseon Dynasty using historical records (Annals of the Joseon Dynasty). Approximately twenty words were found in the historical records that were used to indicate and describe wetlands and/or wet soil conditions. Most records of wetlands have a negative context. This negative attitude towards wetlands could have influenced wetland use. Most wetlands had been converted to cultivation areas especially rice paddies although some wetlands, which were used for irrigation of cultivated crops or reclaimed as cultural land had been specially managed. Because wetlands were poorly drained soil and were located near streams or rivers, they were culturally important within the environment as water for rice paddies.
