  • Eighteen oriented samples from the Jeongsun limestone of the Joseon Supergroup are collected. The orientations of C-axis of calcite and e twin plane, the average thickness, numbers of twins and the widths of calcite grains in 10 samples are measured. Then, the twin strain, mean width, intensity of twin and relative magnitude and orientations of principal stresses are calculated using Calcite Strain Gauge program. Twin strain, mean width and intensitv rainge between 0.801%~10.927%, $0.43{\mu\textrm{m}}~2.03{\mu\textrm{m}}$, and 33.5~113.4twim/mm, respectively. Metamorphic temperatures calculated from twin show below $70^{\circ}C$, indicating that twins were developed within 2.3km depth. In five samples, two events with different orientations of principal stress produced calcite twins, while only one event produced calcite twins in five samples. The direction of the maximum stress is almost horizontal and the minimum is almost vertical, indicating that the stress regirne is identical with thrust fault. E-W and NW-SE are the most dominant directions of comressive stress and N-S and NE-SW directions are also shown. Comparision between paleostress orientations measured in the study and others indicates that the maximum horizontal stress oriented to E-W may represent the paleostress of period either from the Silurian to the Triassic or from the Silulian to the Permian. Paleostress oriented to NW-SE may be the major direction of stress during the Daeho orogeny.

  • $Eu^{3+}$- or $Sm^{3+}$-doped $La_2MoO_6$ phosphors were synthesized with different concentrations of activator ions via a solid-state reaction. The X-ray diffraction patterns exhibited that crystalline structures of all the phosphors were tetragonal systems with the dominant peak occurring at (103) plane, irrespective of the concentration and the type of activator ions. The crystallites showed the pebble-like crystalline shapes and the average crystallite size increased with a tendency to agglomerate as the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ions increased. The excitation spectra of $Eu^{3+}$-doped $La_2MoO_6$ phosphors contained an intense charge transfer band centered at 331 nm in the range of 250-370 nm and three weak peaks at 381, 394, and 415 nm, respectively, due to the $^7F_0{\rightarrow}^5L_7$, $^7F_0{\rightarrow}^5L_6$, and $^7F_0{\rightarrow}^5D_3$ transitions of $Eu^{3+}$ ions. The emission spectra under excitation at 331 nm exhibited a strong red band centered at 620 nm and two weak bands at 593 and 704 nm. As the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ increased from 1 to 20 mol%, the intensities of all the emission bands gradually increased. For the $Sm^{3+}$-doped $La_2MoO_6$ phosphors, the emission spectra consisted of an intense emission band at 607 nm arising from the $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{7/2}$ transition and three relatively small bands at 565, 648, and 707 nm originating from the $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{5/2}$, $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{9/2}$, and $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{11/2}$ transitions of $Sm^{3+}$, respectively. The intensities of all the emission bands approached maxima when concentration of $Sm^{3+}$ ions was 5 mol%. These results indicate that the optimum concentrations for highly-luminescent red and orange emission are 20 mol% of $Eu^{3+}$ and 5 mol% of $Sm^{3+}$ ions, respectively.

  • This study initiated with the intention to reveal the social consultations and fissures through a comparative analysis on generational characteristics by indicating occupation-related identities with the concept of social identity supported by theoretical resources. According to the three dimensions of social identity which are evaluation, potency and activity, there was more generational agreement rather than difference toward occupation-related identities. Among the 44 identities, only evaluation dimensions on minister, congressman, plane captain, farmer and potency dimensions on CEO of a major companies, professor, medical doctor, nurse, celebrity, shaman, unemployed person were statistically significant. For 'Leader and Professional', the respondents in their 50's gave high scores in both evaluation and potency dimensions. On the other side, the 30's had negative viewpoints while the 20's and 40's had neutral perspectives. For the potency dimension, the age groups were divided into the 20's, 30's and 40's, 50's; having the younger generations underestimate the potency dimension of such categories. Also for the 'General Occupation', 20's and the 30's relatively devaluated with more distinctive degree toward evaluation dimensions. For religion, 20's and 30's were positive toward buddhist monks while the 40's and 50's were more favorable with priests. For the non-economically active population, the lifetime cycle influenced each generations. When performing a two dimensional analysis toward the 'Leader and Professional' with evaluation and potency on each axis, the 50's highly evaluated both evaluation and potency dimension of such identities. However, for the 40's, 30's and 20's, the average value fell while the focus of the distribution deepened. The 30's had negative perspective toward the evaluation dimension while the 20's reflected critical attitude toward the potency dimension.

  • This paper presents the static and kinematic positioning accuracy by the real-time GPS positioning modes of the low-cost GPS receivers using NTRIP-based augmentation service. For this, acquires both the raw measurements data of the field tests by LEA 6T GPS module of u-blox AG, and correction communication via NTRIP caster with RTKLIB as an open source program for GNSS solution. With computing the positions of the check points and road tracks by six kinds of GPS positioning modes which are Single, SBAS, DGPS, PPP, RTK, and TCP/IP_RTK, compared these results to the reference position of the check points. The position error average and rmse of the static test by GPS L1 RTK surveying showed $N=0.002m{\pm}0.001m$, $E=0.004m{\pm}0.001m$ in horizontal plane, and $h=-0.116m{\pm}0.003m$ in vertical, these results are very closed to the coordinates with the geodetic receiver. Especially, in case of the kinematic test with obstacles located on both sides of road, the computed track with ambiguity fixing showed very similar trajectory considerably from VRS network RTK mode. And also, evaluate and verify the performance of the TCP/IP_RTK mode developed based on TCP/IP protocol.

  • Purpose: Facial asymmetry has been measured by the severity of deviation of the menton (Me) on posteroanterior (PA) cephalograms and three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT). This study aimed to compare PA cephalograms and 3D CT regarding the severity of Me deviation and the direction of the Me. Materials and Methods: PA cephalograms and 3D CT images of 35 patients who underwent orthognathic surgery (19 males and 16 females, with an average age of $22.1{\pm}3.3years$) were retrospectively reviewed in this study. By measuring the distance and direction of the Me from the midfacial reference line and the midsagittal plane in the cephalograms and 3D CT, respectively, the x-coordinates ($x_1$ and $x_2$) of the Me were obtained in each image. The difference between the x-coordinates was calculated and statistical analysis was performed to compare the severity of Me deviation and the direction of the Me in the two imaging modalities. Results: A statistically significant difference in the severity of Me deviation was found between the two imaging modalities (${\Delta}x=2.45{\pm}2.03mm$, p<0.05) using the one-sample t-test. Statistically significant agreement was observed in the presence of deviation (k=0.64, p<0.05) and in the severity of Me deviation (k=0.27, p<0.05). A difference in the direction of the Me was detected in three patients (8.6%). The severity of the Me deviation was found to vary according to the imaging modality in 16 patients (45.7%). Conclusion: The measurement of Me deviation may be different between PA cephalograms and 3D CT in some patients.

  • Applications of 3D data increase with advancement of multimedia technique and contents, and it is necessary to manage and to retrieve for 3D data efficiently. In this paper, we propose a new method using the sliced shape which extracts efficiently a feature description for shape-based retrieval of 3D models. Since the feature descriptor of 3D model should be invariant to translation, rotation and scale for its model, normalization of models requires for 3D model retrieval system. This paper uses principal component analysis(PCA) method in order to normalize all the models. The proposed algorithm finds a direction of each axis by the PCA and creates orthogonal n planes in each axis. These planes are orthogonalized with each axis, and are used to extract sliced shape image. Sliced shape image is the 2D plane created by intersecting at between 3D model and these planes. The proposed feature descriptor is a distribution of Euclidean distances from center point of sliced shape image to its outline. A performed evaluation is used for average of the normalize modified retrieval rank(ANMRR) with a standard evaluation from MPEG-7. In our experimental results, we demonstrate that the proposed method is an efficient 3D model retrieval.

  • In the study, the effect of steam injection on syngas productivity was investigated under the constant operating conditions of gasifier oxygen load while the coal feed was fixed and the steam injection flow rate is changed in Taean IGCC plant. The maximum syngas average productivity was found to be at 80 % and 90 % of gasifier oxygen loads with the steam injection flow rate of 0.14 kg/s and 0.15 kg/s per coal burner. Through this study, the syngas productivity was changed by adjusting the steam injection amount and as the steam injection flow rate increased, the syngas productivity increased and then decreased again. The syngas productivity can be increased only by steam injection without supplying additional coal and it is considered that the syngas productivity has different characteristics depending on coal type. Thus it is recommended to operate the gasifier using Carbo-One coal with the steam injection flow rate of about 0.14 kg/s per coal burner when the gasifier oxygen load is 80 % ~ 90 %.

  • Purpose: Radical surgical extirpation in advanced breast cancer patients produces extensive loss of skin with large defects requiring plastic surgical procedures for the closure. Many reconstructive methods exist, the choice of which depends upon the characteristic of the wound, extent of resection and patient comorbidities. For adequate coverage of the large skin defects following resection of advanced breast cancer, current authors have performed a thoracoabdominal flap. Methods: From August 2008 to June 2009, 4 cases of thoraco-abdominal flap were performed for chest wall reconstruction after mastectomy of advanced breast cancer. Flap dissection was entirely performed in a subfascial plane and the flap involving the external oblique abdominal muscle. The flap was rotated clockwise in left chest wall defects and counterclockwise in right chest defects and the donor site was closed directly. Results: Their mean age, 55.7 years and the average follow-up interval was 9 months. Patients' oncologic status ranged from stage IIIc to stage IV, it was classified according to the TNM staging system. Flap dimensions ranged between $15{\times}15$ and $25{\times}25\;cm$. One flap sustained a partial loss at the distal margin and revision with pectoralis major musculocutaneous island flap. Conclusion: Large chest wall reconstructions are usually required after radical excision of advanced cancer stages patients with poor general conditions. Thoracoabdominal flap is a simple, quick single-stage procedure, and offer to patient fast recovery, low complication rate, enabling further concomitant adjuvant therapy.

  • One-dimensional nanosturctures such as nanowires and nanotube have been mainly proposed as important components of nano-electronic devices and are expected to play an integral part in design and construction of these devices. Silicon carbide(SiC) is one of a promising wide bandgap semiconductor that exhibits extraordinary properties, such as higher thermal conductivity, mechanical and chemical stability than silicon. Therefore, the synthesis of SiC-based nanowires(NWs) open a possibility for developing a potential application in nano-electronic devices which have to work under harsh environment. In this study, one-dimensional nanowires(NWs) of cubic phase silicon carbide($\beta$-SiC) were efficiently produced by thermal chemical vapor deposition(T-CVD) synthesis of mixtures containing Si powders and hydrocarbon in a alumina boat about $T\;=\;1400^{\circ}C$ SEM images are shown that the temperature below $1300^{\circ}C$ is not enough to synthesis the SiC NWs due to insufficient thermal energy for melting of Si Powder and decomposition of methane gas. However, the SiC NWs are produced over $1300^{\circ}C$ and the most efficient temperature for growth of SiC NWs is about $1400^{\circ}C$ with an average diameter range between 50 ~ 150 nm. Raman spectra revealed the crystal form of the synthesized SiC NWs is a cubic phase. Two distinct peaks at 795 and $970\;cm^{-1}$ over $1400^{\circ}C$ represent the TO and LO mode of the bulk $\beta$-SiC, respectively. In XRD spectra, this result was also verified with the strongest (111) peaks at $2{\theta}=35.7^{\circ}$, which is very close to (111) plane peak position of 3C-SiC over $1400 ^{\circ}C$ TEM images are represented to two typical $\beta$-SiC NWs structures. One is shown the defect-free $\beta$-SiC nanowire with a (111) interplane distance with 0.25 nm, and the other is the stacking-faulted $\beta$-SiC nanowire. Two SiC nanowires are covered with $SiO_2$ layer with a thickness of less 2 nm. Moreover, by changing the flow rate of methane gas, the 300 sccm is the optimal condition for synthesis of a large amount of $\beta$-SiC NWs.

  • Objective : To define optimal method that calculate the safe direction of cervical pedicle screw placement using computed tomography (CT) image based three dimensional (3D) cortical shell model of human cervical spine. Methods : Cortical shell model of cervical spine from C3 to C6 was made after segmentation of in vivo CT image data of 44 volunteers. Three dimensional Cartesian coordinate of all points constituting surface of whole vertebra, bilateral pedicle and posterior wall were acquired. The ideal trajectory of pedicle screw insertion was defined as viewing direction at which the inner area of pedicle become largest when we see through the biconcave tubular pedicle. The ideal trajectory of 352 pedicles (eight pedicles for each of 44 subjects) were calculated using custom made program and were changed from global coordinate to local coordinate according to the three dimensional position of posterior wall of each vertebral body. The transverse and sagittal angle of trajectory were defined as the angle between ideal trajectory line and perpendicular line of posterior wall in the horizontal and sagittal plane. The averages and standard deviations of all measurements were calculated. Results : The average transverse angles were $50.60^{\circ}{\pm}6.22^{\circ}$ at C3, $51.42^{\circ}{\pm}7.44^{\circ}$ at C4, $47.79^{\circ}{\pm}7.61^{\circ}$ at C5, and $41.24^{\circ}{\pm}7.76^{\circ}$ at C6. The transverse angle becomes more steep from C3 to C6. The mean sagittal angles were $9.72^{\circ}{\pm}6.73^{\circ}$ downward at C3, $5.09^{\circ}{\pm}6.39^{\circ}$ downward at C4, $0.08^{\circ}{\pm}6.06^{\circ}$ downward at C5, and $1.67^{\circ}{\pm}6.06^{\circ}$ upward at C6. The sagittal angle changes from caudad to cephalad from C3 to C6. Conclusion : The absolute values of transverse and sagittal angle in our study were not same but the trend of changes were similar to previous studies. Because we know 3D address of all points constituting cortical shell of cervical vertebrae. we can easily reconstruct 3D model and manage it freely using computer program. More creative measurement of morphological characteristics could be carried out than direct inspection of raw bone. Furthermore this concept of measurement could be used for the computing program of automated robotic screw insertion.
