In this study, we demonstrated Fourier-domain/swept-source optical coherence tomography (FD/SS-OCT) at a center wavelength of 800 nm for in vivo human retinal imaging. A wavelength-swept source was constructed with a semiconductor optical amplifier, a fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter, isolators, and a fiber coupler in a ring cavity. Our swept source produced a laser output with a tuning range of 42 nm (779 to 821 nm) and an average power of 3.9 mW. The wavelength-swept speed in this configuration with bidirectionality is 2,000 axial scans per second. In addition, we suggested a modified zero-crossing method to achieve equal sample spacing in the wavenumber (k) domain and to increase the image depth range. FD/SS-OCT has a sensitivity of ~89.7 dB and an axial resolution of 10.4 ${\mu}m$ in air. When a retinal image with 2,000 A-lines/frame is obtained, an acquisition speed of 2.0 fps is achieved.

In this Paper, we designed an LSP(Line Spectral Pairs) parameter quantizer with cascaded structure of vector quantizer and scalar quantizer for the wideband speech coder. We have chosen the 16th-order of the LP coefficients. These coefficients are then transformed into the LSP parameters which have the excellent properties for quantization and easy stability checking condition of synthesis filter. In the first stage of quantization, input LSP parameters are split-vector-quantized using two 8-th order codebooks. In the second stage, the components of residual vector are individually quantized by the scalar quantizer utilizing the ordering property of LSP parameters. The designed adaptive VQ-SQ quantizer using 35 bits/frame shows the wideband transparency that the average spectral distortion should be less than 1.6 ㏈ and less than 4% of the frames should have SD above 3 ㏈. The simulation results show that the designed quantizer provides a 2-3 bits/frame saving over the typical vector-scalar quantizer.

In recent times, the median filtering (MF) detector as a forensic tool for the recovery of forgery images' processing history has concerned broad interest. For the classification of MF image, MF detector should be designed with smaller feature set and higher detection ratio. This paper presents a novel method for the detection of MF in altered images. It is transformed from BMP to several kinds of MF image by the median window size. The difference distribution values are computed according to the window sizes and then the values construct the feature set same as the MF window size. For the MF detector, the feature set transformed to the model specification which is computed using latent growth modeling (LGM). Through experiments, the test image is classified by the discriminant into two classes: the true positive (TP) and the false negative (FN). It confirms that the proposed algorithm is to be outstanding performance when the minimum distance average is 0.119 in the confusion of TP and FN for the effectivity of classification.

Texture information plays an important role in object recognition and classification. To perform an accurate classification, the texture feature used in the classification must be highly discriminative. This paper presents a novel texture descriptor for texture-based image retrieval and its application in Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) system for Emphysema classification. The texture descriptor is based on the combination of local surrounding neighborhood difference and centralized neighborhood difference and is named as Combined Neighborhood Difference (CND). The local differences of surrounding neighborhood difference and centralized neighborhood difference between pixels are compared and converted into binary codewords. Then binomial factor is assigned to the codewords in order to convert them into high discriminative unique values. The distribution of these unique values is computed and used as the texture feature vectors. The texture classification accuracies using Outex and Brodatz dataset show that CND achieves an average of 92.5%, whereas LBP, LND and Gabor filter achieve 89.3%, 90.7% and 83.6%, respectively. The implementations of CND in the computer-aided diagnosis of Emphysema is also presented in this paper.

Objectives: This study was conducted in order to evaluate personal and area exposure to airborne total dust and endotoxin during harvest and planting tasks at cucumber, yellow melon and potato farms Materials and Methods: Total dust was measured with NIOSH method 0500. Endotoxin were measured using a 37 mm glass fiber filter which was connected to an air pump calibrated to 2 LPM, and then analyzed with a Turbidmetric kinetic method. Results: The average(arithmetic mean) concentrations of total dust in the personal samples were $0.10-3.81mg/m^3$ for cucumbers, $0.21-1.19mg/m^3$ for yellow melon, and $0.08-2.72mg/m^3$ for potato. There was a significant difference in the harvest task among the three farm types(p=0.019 of personal sample, p=0.048 of area sample), in which the air concentration for potatoes was higher than with cucumbers and yellow melons. Conclusions: It was found that potatoes(planting and harvest) should be considered the first priority for studying and reducing total dust exposure.

This paper proposes a blocking artifacts detection algorithm in frequency domain for MC-FRUC (Motion Compensated Frame Rate Up-Conversion). Conventional MC-FRUC algorithms occur blocking artifacts near interpolated block boundaries since motion compensation is performed from block-based motion vector. For efficiently decreasing blocking artifacts, this paper analyses frequency characteristics of the interpolated frame and reduces blocking artifacts on block boundaries. In experimental results the proposed method shows better subjective quality than some conventional FRUC method and also increases the PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) value on average 0.45 dB compared with BDMC(Bi-Directional Motion Compensation).

Recently, the amount of image and audio data has been increasing dramatically for high performance. According to this trend, a high-density magnetic recording system is necessitated and the tracks of magnetic tapes are getting narrower. This, in turn, requires the capstan servo system of the magnetic recording system such as DVCR to control precisely the speed and position of the capstan motor. Especially, in case of play-back, the capstan servo system should be able to position and maintain the head on the desired place of the track. To meet this requirement, digital camcorders use ATF (Automatic Track Following). In this paper, a new ATF block using discrete Fourier transform is proposed. The proposed ATF block was designed and implemented in ALTERA FPGA chips and fully tested in a real DVCR system. It is shown through experiments that the new ATF block is more cost-effective than other existing ATF blocks using digital lowpass filters. In particular, the number of logic gates can be reduced by 20% in average, compared to the existing ATF's.
NDIR $CO_2$ gas sensor was built with ASIC implemented thermopile sensor which included temperature sensor and unique elliptical waveguide structures in this paper. The temperature dependency of dual infrared sensor module ($CO_2$ and reference IR sensors) has been characterized and its output voltage characteristics according to the temperature and gas concentration were proposed for the first time. NDIR $CO_2$ gas and reference IR sensors showed linear output voltages according to the variation of ambient temperatures from 243 K to 333 K and their slopes were 14.2 mV/K and 8.8 mV/K, respectively. The output voltages of temperature sensor also presented a linear dependency according to the ambient temperature and could be described with V(T)=-3.191+0.0148T(V). The output voltage ratio between $CO_2$ and reference IR sensors revealed irrelevant to the changes of ambient temperatures and gave a constant value around 1.6255 with standard deviation 0.008 at 0 ppm. The output voltage of $CO_2$ gas sensor at zero ppm $CO_2$ gas consisted of two components; one is caused by the HPB (half pass-band) of IR filter and the other is attributed to the part of $CO_2$ absorption wavelength. The characteristics of output voltages of $CO_2$ gas sensor could be accurately modeled with three parameters which are dependent upon the ambient temperatures and represented small average error less than 1.5% with 5% standard deviation.
A demonstration plant was carried out to investigate the removal efficiency of $NH_3-N$ and $KMnO_4$ consumption depending on the existence of pre-chlorination for the ozonation and activated carbon process in the S water treatment plant which is located at the middle of Keum River. The averge removal efficiency of $KMnO_4$ consumption for $O_3/GAC$ processes with pre-chlorination and $O_3/BAC$ processes without pre-chlorination were 48.6% and 50% respectively. It is similar to removal effect of $KMnO_4$ consumption for GAC and BAC process depending on the existence of pre-chlorination. Otherwise, the removal of THMFP for GAC and BAC process was 58% and 68% respectively. $NH_3-N$ was not almost removed by sand filter and ozonation, but the average removal efficiency in the BAC process was about 31%. Especially, $NH_3-N$ was not almost removed by $O_3/BAC$ processes at the low temperature (below $$10^{\circ}C$$) in the winter season, $O_3/BAC$ processes have the advantage of removal of organic substance when it is compared to pre -chlorination followed by $O_3/GAC$ processes. Pre-chlorination followed by $O_3/GAC$ processes were required to remove $NH_3-N$ in the winter season because the removal of $NH_3-N$ was almost ineffective by $O_3/BAC$ process.
Barium nitrate and yittrium nitrate were dissolved into distilled water. Titaium hydroxide precipitated from titanium chloride with NH4OH was dissolved into nitric acid. Each aqueous solution was mixed for 12 hr in the composition of Ba1-xYxTiO3 (x=0.1∼0.6) and the concentration of mixed solution was 0.1 mol/ι. The mixed solution was sprayed with an ultrasonic atomizer and carried into an electric furnace which was kept at 900∼1000$^{\circ}C$ and pyrolyzed. Pyrolyzed powders were collected on the glass filter with vacuum pump. Aqueous Mn solutiion was added into the synthesized powders, mixed with ultrasonic vibration and sintered at 1300∼1400$^{\circ}C$. Synthesized powders were characterized with SEM, XRD, DT-TGA, and BET. Microsture and resistivity of sintered body were investigated with SEM and multimeter. The results of this experiment were as follows; 1) Yittrium dooped BaTiO3 powders were synthesized above 950$^{\circ}C$. 2) The average particle sizes of powders from BET specific surface area and SEM were 0.045$\mu\textrm{m}$, 0.046$\mu\textrm{m}$ respectively. The particle size distribution was narrow in the range of 0.1∼1.0$\mu\textrm{m}$ from SEM. 3) Room temperature resistivity and pmax/pmin of 0.4 mol% Y doped specimen which was sintered at 1375$^{\circ}C$ were 102∼3 (Ω$.$cm) and 102∼3 respectively. 4) Room temperature resistivity and pmax/pmin of 0.4 mol% Y and 0.04 at% Mn added specimen which was sintered at 1375$^{\circ}C$ were 102∼3 (Ω$.$cm) and 106∼7 respectively. 5) Grain growth was inhibited with addition of Y2O3 and enhanced in addition of Mn by 0.05 atm%.
