  • We proposes a new detecting algorithm of DTMF tone for low bit ate vocoder so that we use DTMF tones for signalling inthe digital network. Using DTMF tones for signalling, we could not change the conventional IS-95 protocol and control the mobile phone. We apply the root finding to detection of formants and bandwidth to search whether DTMF tones or voice and moreover to find what's kinds of DTMF tones, for instance 1, 2, 3, ......., #, *, A, B, ...., etc. Consequently, proposed method has a good result which is 0.000944% average error rate. It is satisfied with rcommended error rate in ITU-T($\pm$1.8%).

  • This paper proposes an adaptive video watermarking algorithm according to bit detection rate of watermark in MPEG2 system. The watermark strength is adaptively applied as BER(bit error rate) of watermark extracted from decoded frame for motion compensation. Watermark insertion uses a frequency spread spectrum method. A realtime watermark extraction is done directly in the DCT domain during MPEG decoding. The experimental simulations show that PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) results 31.5dB for a fixed watermark strength and 33.dB for an adaptive watermark strength. Also average BER is 0.126 and less than 0.2 avaliable value.

  • The performance of continuous phase modulation signals is well known for the coherent demodulation. But the carrier recovery circuits of the coherent receiver have long acquisition time and the receiver experiences high error floors for fading channels. In this paper, we propose the differential demodulation of 2-h continuous phase modulation signals. The sets of modulation indices of 2-h phase codes adequate to the differential demodulation for differentially encoded input are obtained and the average bit error probability in Additive White Gaussian Noise environments is derived and analyzed.

  • Multihop transmission is a promising technique that helps in achieving broader coverage (excellent network connectivity) and preventing the impairment of wireless channels. This paper proposes a cluster-based multihop wireless network that makes use of the advantages of multihop relaying, i.e., path loss gain, and partial relay selection in each hop, i.e., spatial diversity. In this partial relay selection, the node with the maximum instantaneous channel gain will serve as the sender for the next hop. With the proposed protocol, the transmit power and spectral efficiency can be improved over those in the case of direct transmission and conventional multihop transmission. Moreover, at a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the performance of the system with at least two nodes in each cluster is dependent only on the last hop and not on any of the intermediate hops. For a practically feasible decode-and-forward relay strategy, a compact expression for the probability density function of the end-to-end SNR at the destination is derived. This expression is then used to derive closed-form expressions for the outage probability, average symbol error rate, and average bit error rate for M-ary square quadrature amplitude modulation as well as to determine the spectral efficiency of the system. In addition, the probability of SNR gain over direct transmission is investigated for different environments. The mathematical analysis is verified by various simulation results for demonstrating the accuracy of the theoretical approach.

  • The misalignment errors and fluctuations in irradiance due to atmospheric turbulence can severely degrade the performance of free-space optical (FSO) systems. In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic bit error rate (BER) performance and diversity orders of FSO links using parallel transmit-diversity schemes. The BER expressions of FSO links with the switch-and-examine transmit (SET), switch-and-examine transmit with post-selection (SETps), dual-branch transmit laser selection (Dual-TLS), and group transmit laser selection (Group-TLS) schemes are derived, based on an approximate channel model. Then numerical simulations for these four schemes in the region of high average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are presented under different channel conditions. The results show that the four transmit-diversity schemes can reduce system complexity and overcome the limitation of peak power, without much BER deterioration.

  • We derived the average bit error rate (BER) of coherent free-space optical (FSO) systems with digital binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulations over atmospheric turbulence channels with a gamma-gamma distribution. To obtain a generalized derivation in a closed-form expression, we used special integrals and transformations of the Meijer G function. Furthermore, we numerically analyzed and simulated the average BER behavior according to the average SNR for different turbulence strengths. Simulation results are demonstrated to confirm the analytical results.

  • In this paper, we consider a 2-hop relay system where both the relay and destination nodes suffer from the arbitrary number of co-channel interferers. More specifically, assuming that the relay and access channels as well as interference channels are all subject to Rayleigh fading, we derive an exact closed-form expression for outage probability of the amplify-and-forward (AF) relay system, and furthermore compute its upper and lower bounds. Based on these bounds, we derive the upper and lower bounds on the average bit error rate (BER) of the AF relay system. We also confirm the accuracy of our derivation by investigating the performance gap between the performance bounds under consideration and simulation results.

  • The conventional OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation can be combined with WHT (Walsh-Hadamard Transform) to reduce PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) and improve BER (Bit Error Rate) performance. However, this WHT-based OFDM system still suffers a relatively high PAPR. Therefore, we suggest a new technique, called DGT (Data Grouping Technique) and design an OFDM system employing it and WHT to further decrease PAPR without the BER performance degradation. h salient property of DGT is the independence of the side information which is inherently a principal drawback of the well-known PAPR reduction techniques for OFDM system as well as WHT-based OFDM. The simulation programs have been also performed to verify the validity of the proposed system.

  • This paper presents a method of superimposing the rotation phases over the pilot and data symbols in order to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM). The phases of the rotation vector are added to those of the pilot symbols and those of the data symbols by interlaying them between any two pilot symbols. The receiver restores the data symbols by utilizing the channel estimation of the pilot symbols. Therefore, the bandwidth efficiency is improved by not using the subcarriers that are assigned for the reduction of the PAPR. Also, the enormous increase of the bit error rate which would be caused by incorrectly receiving the side information, i.e. the phases of the rotation vector, is prevented. The simulation results of the bit error rate performance for the BPSK are given using the COST-207 channel model.

  • In this paper, we propose a companding scheme to effectively reduce PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) of the OFDM (Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplexing) signals. The proposed scheme is basically based on the companding scheme to consider both complexity and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance, and composed of the clipping followed by the companding scheme. In the first step of the proposed scheme, some of peak signals which do not influence the BER even without them, are clipped. In the second step, the proposed scheme utilizes the ${\mu}-law$ companding to effectively reduce the PAPR. Simulation results show that the proposed clipped companding scheme can provide more PAPR reduction without degradation of the BER performance, as compare to the conventional ${\mu}-law$ companding.
