  • This study applied regression analysis to evaluate the impact of hourly average congestion calculated by bumper model in the congested area of each passage of each port on the peak time congestion, to suggest the model formula that can predict the peak time congestion. This study conducted regression analysis of hourly average congestion and peak time congestion based on the AIS survey study of 20 ports in Korea. As a result of analysis, it was found that the hourly average congestion has a significant impact on the peak time congestion and the prediction model formula was derived. This formula($C_p=4.457C_a+29.202$) can be used to calculate the peak time congestion based on the predicted hourly average congestion.

  • In order to design a wave energy generating system, a 6-DOF analysis technique is applied to CFD analysis on of a floating body and the behavior is interpreted according to the nature of the incoming waves. A spring constant is adopted to control the motion of multi floating bodies and to calculate the total average power absorption. Three cases of different wavelengths namely 20D, 30D and 40D have been modeled to analyze the total average power absorption. The average power absorption not only varies with the position of the floating body but also varies with wavelength. From the results obtained, it is concluded that the maximum total average power absorption is 9W approximately in wavelength 30D and the minimum total average power absorption is 4.3W approximately in wavelength 40D.

  • Average pressure in a pipe network is one of critical factors to estimate the flow distribution and to calculate UARL (Unavoidable Annual Real Losses) value in ILI (Infrastructure Leakage Index). While its collection period and measuring location are essential to obtain average pressure, their standard method have not been established so far. In this study, proper method including its procedure for data collection period and measuring point for average pressure were suggested using non-exceedance probability concept in the water distribution network.

  • In the past, when there were few vehicles on the road, the T.O.D.(Time of Day) traffic signal worked very well. The T.O.D. signal operates on a preset signal cycling which cycles on the basis of the average number of average passenger cars in the memory device of an electric signal unit. Now days, with increasing many vehicles on restricted roads, the conventional traffic light creates startup-delay time and end-lag-time. The conventional traffic light loses the function of optimal cycle. And so, $30-45\%$ of conventional traffic cycle is not matched to the present traffic cycle. In this paper we proposes electro sensitive traffic light using fuzzy look up table method which will reduce the average vehicle waiting time and improve average vehicle speed. Computer simulation results prove that reducing the average vehicle waiting time which proposed considering passing vehicle length for optimal traffic cycle is better than fixed signal method which doesn't consider vehicle length.

  • In the past, when there were few vehicles on the road, the T.O.D.(Time of Day) traffic signal worked very well. The T.O.D. signal operates on a preset signal cycling which cycles on the basis of the average number of average passenger cars in the memory device of an electric signal unit. Today, with increasing traffic and congested roads, the conventional traffic light creates startup-delay time and end lag time so that thirty to forty-five percent efficiency in traffic handling is lost, as well as adding to fuel costs. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new concept of optimal green time algorithm, which reduces average vehicle waiting time while improving average vehicle speed using fuzzy rules and neural networks. Through computer simulation, this method has been proven to be much more efficient than fixed time interval signals. Fuzzy Neural Network will consistanly improve average waiting time, vehicle speed, and fuel consumption.

  • The constrained average method is one of dither methods which combines edge emphasis and grayscale rendition to provide legibility of textual region and proper quality of continuous tone region. How-ever, image quality of continuous tone region is insufficient compared to other dither methods, such as ordered dither methods or the error diffusion method. The constrained average method uses a uniform distribution function to decide number of lit pixels related to the average intensity in a picture area. However, actual distribution of continuous tone region is closer to the Laplacian distribution or triangle distribution. In this paper, we introduce various probability distributions and the actual luminance distribution to decide the threshold value of the constrained average method in order to improve image quality of dithered image.

  • It is known that, if an equilibrium of a nonlinear system has a stability property when an external input is frozen, then the property is maintained under the input being slowly varying. In this paper, we show that the same stability property is preserved not only under slowly varying input but also under slowly-varying-average input (which is not actually slowly varying but its ‘average’ is slowly varying) The input is assumed to be periodic and to vary sufficiently fast. We prove the claim by the average theory and some previous results on the slowly varying inputs.

  • In this manuscript, a modified single sampling plan is proposed for the inspection of products in which the nonconforming items can be classified in to two categories namely critical and non-critical; and explained with the help of industrial example. The operating procedure of this plan is also proposed and the performance measures such as the probability of acceptance, average sample number, average total inspection and average out going quality are also derived. The optimal parameters are determined which will have minimum sample size. The efficiency of the proposed plan is also discussed over the conventional single sampling plan. The extensive tables for selecting a modified single sampling plan based on AQL and LQL are provided for both Binomial and Poisson distributions and explained with the help of industrial data.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the environmental factors of habitat of Lindera erythrocarpa and to test seedling growth of the plant transplanted in a field of Sung Kyun Kwan Univ. in Suwon, Kyungkido. The results were as follows ; 1. The wild lindera erythrocarpa was growing in Mt. Kwan whose January average temperature was -3.4$^{\circ}C$, and minimum average temperature was -14.8$^{\circ}C$ in January. It was also growing in Mt. Suri whose daily minimum temperature is 3.4$^{\circ}C$ lower than that of Seoul. Therefore, there was no problem for Lindera erythrocarpa to grow in Seoul regions in terms of winter coldness. 2. The growth of seedlings of Lindera erythrocarpa transplanted in a field of Sung Kyun Kwan Univ. in Suwon, Kyunkido in 1990 showed that average height of the tree was 1.64m, average diameter of root was 2.44cm, and that average width of crown was 1m. Therefore, there was no problem for Lindera erythrocarpa to grow under winter coldness in Suwon area.

  • This paper investigates the average run length (ARL) of a selectively moving average (S-MA) control chart. The S-U chart is designed to detect shifts in the process mean. The basic idea of the S-MA chart is to accumulate previous samples selectively in order to increase the sensitivity. The ARL of the S-MA chart was shown to be monotone decreasing with respect to the decision length in a previous research [3]. This paper derives the steady-state ARL in a closed-form and shows that the monotone property is resulted from head-start assumption. The steady-state ARL is shown to be a sum of head-start ARL and an additional term. The statistical design procedure for the S-MA chart is revised according to this result. Sensitivity study shorts that the steady-state ARL performance is still better than the CUSUM chart or the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) chart.
